The
golden
eagle flies
through billowed clouds
training his keen eye
on slight movement below.
Swooping, he clutches a hare.
Swift is the kill; now to a tree
he makes his way, carrying his prey
while calling to his fledgling in the nest.

Words used: Flies, clouds, Tree, nest, Fledgling, Calling, swooping.
He flies unhurried, gliding on gigantic wings that glisten with gold,
Proud and bold, courageous and beautiful and powerful;
Above in an azure sky, fluffy white clouds are drifting by,
His lustrous feathers are sacred and spiritual to Canada.
He carries his kill snatched from a frozen tree with his great talons,
Bringing his gift to his home on a cliff above a raging river;
The massive nest, an assemblage of branches and grasses,
And from this mountain perch he can see everything.
The fledglings were born a few days ago, white and helpless,
His mate is tending to their needs with motherly care;
Although he is usually silent, he is calling to her with high shrills
They have been mated to each other for twenty-three years,
And he comes graceful, swooping on the nest of branches,
In this remote, undisturbed and protected sanctuary in Hudson Bay;
Where they glide and breed and dance in the sky without fear,
The Golden Eagle is a beloved treasure to all Canadians.

Fourth Place
Calling out with his loud shrill cry
While winging through an azure sky,
Low clouds back light intrepid flight.
Strong talons grasp prey in sharp sight
As feathers float on current's wave,
I view a raptor bold and brave.
Majestic in his swooping quest
He soon returns to guard his nest.
Fledgling beaks open eagerly
Accepting gifts voraciously.
Tree top dwelling, their sacred home
Where King avian victors roam.
The golden eagle, soaring high,
Flies triumphant through autumn's sky.

Golden Eagle
Graceful strong as it soars among the shadows of the clouds
Taint the sunlight like a shroud
The Golden Eagle flies high in the azure skies from high above the mountain trees
Graceful movements as she soars in the breeze
For long periods without flapping her wings
Food to her young she brings
She hears the calling cries of her fledgling nestled safe in their nest
High on a cliffs crest
As the breeze envelopes her majestic beauty beams
With lustrous gold feathers gleam
Swooping down with powerful beak and talons with wings outstretched
Snatching her prey to her nest it be fetched
Over the canopy of trees the calling cries
Of her fledgling nestled safe in their nest arise
Out stretched feathered wings
Mouth opens pushing each other away to get the food she brings

The end of summer has turned dull.
O’er rugged land on Isle of Mull
a golden eagle flies up high
where the wind howls and clouds float by,
then it glides down graceful and free
towards a tall imposing tree.
There it alights. It comes to rest
upon the branches where its nest
is placed in order to outwit
unwelcome foes. The fledglings sit
excited, for it is now time
to flap their wings and upwards climb.
Calling each other as they soar,
swooping and circling by the shore
as mother eagle looks from high
she keeps on them a watchful eye.

Golden Eagle
A raptor formed from days of dinosaurs—
the largest and most nimble- it is said
our Golden Eagle flies with highest scores
for fear. Neath clouds, heroic wings are spread
with grace, but carry death- talons, and beak
his tools of killing prowess honed to hunt
down prey in tree or nest from mountain peak-
adept at swooping down, sharp eyes confront.
Yet, as a symbol, Golden Eagle gleams;
from fledgling on, his strength presents a sign-
a calling to be etched in cultures' dreams.
His courage symbolized- with him aligned:
The aspirations to attain new heights—
and self-discovery through soaring flights.

On the wings of a mighty power holding the weight of our nation as one
the eagle flies above and beyond the clouds while calling our hero's home
While watching from the highest tree she will sit so she can see from afar
a nest of destruction of worlds of war and gore that has left her heart with a scar
The fledgling of her wings are lost one by one as a soldier cries and dies
but she will continue her swooping and diving catching each soul in her wings
with her head held high a tear unseen to the heavens she will fly.

With a golden nape, that area on the neck’s rear,
And a silent voice, excluding some chirps and stonks,
Speaking only to young, or between two or some in flight,
The golden eagle exudes those qualities that make humans right.
Flying maybe seventy-seven miles from their nest,
With wings up-turned in a V-shape for dynamics,
Which make a plane with the tail, aerodynamically set,
At a speed of one twenty mph without acoustics.
Open areas of nurturing native vegetation,
Make a home and life for development and tangle,
And mountainous rock regions find them hunting,
Bidding for rock pigeons and raven to mangle.
They devour creatures of the hair family fair and square,
And ground squirrels, grouse and pheasant they tare,
They’re not scared of deer, lamb, pigs or wild boar,
And sheep to them are a massively wide open door.
They have a dark brown body with feathers replaced annually,
Falconry is rife, and they get prestige from indigenous America,
Mentioned in the Torah, and the Old and New Testament fair,
Tolkien used it in an illustration to symbolise Bilbo Baggins air.
You scan the sky for the spectacular sight
that nature bestows on ones eyes
the unbelievable beauty of golden eagles in flight
as it flies , soaring, dipping and diving his eyes scan the countryside
for any small movement which brings him swooping down.
This pair have been together for many years.
Have had white down covered fledglings before.
Firstly they listened to the scratching in the egg
this happens about fifteen hours before hatching.
Now they listen to the yip yip sound of hungry youngsters
the noise which is carried on the wind, belong to the four fledglings.
Waiting ,calling, hungrily in their nest of intricately woven branches
The adult Golden Eagle’s plumes are brown looking so dull
until you spot the white feathers at the tail, this you see
when they stretch their wings, flapping, cooling down,
showing what looks like splayed fingers at the tips.
This also happens when they ride the air currents
looking impatiently for a tasty rodent to eat
These majestic birds are found now in Scotland
In an area where there are just a few trees, which suits this bird needs
They like to nest in high trees away from others
Hopefully, in watched over conditions this bird will survive here.

On thermals high a golden eagle flies
Such a stunning sight in our blue skies
In Scotland we can observe them there
But in Britain they are really really rare
Golden eagles in Scotland will remain
Their territory is their own domain
They grace the sky amid clouds so white
An eagle in flight is an awesome sight
They build their nest in remote places
Sadly predators are from human faces
A female will lay eggs, as many as three
High in an eyrie, right at the top of a tree
Swooping and calling the parents find food
For they need to feed their hungry brood
Often only one fledgling survives to fly
Nature can be cruel - the other chicks die

I, a Scottish Golden Eagle so regal on the breeze
To soar on thermals high over Scottish Glens with ease
To look down on the lands of kilted, pipes and lochs
Witnessing the scattering of our clans, be present at our loss

Golden Eagle flies
Up above the misty clouds
On tree, in the nest
The fledgling, fearing young one
Cannot break the misty shroud
The Bird keeps calling
Young one tries harder again
Has to know swooping
For itself to sustain and
Pride of the clan to retain
Thus flows the nature
The strong gets even stronger
The weak stays weaker
But there is a ray of hope
Learners are able to cope.

Golden eagle
Flies and floats in the higher skies,
Can visualise through dense clouds
the birds inhabited on trees,
Eyes on their nests
and the chirping fledglings,
This golden eagle comes calling ....
swooping down on its prey.

The golden eagle, swooping,
Calling, under grey clouds to its nest.
Fledgling waits, ingloriously,
With open mouth, as test.
Flies its mother towards it?
Tree canopies it best.
