Premium Member We Go To War

We go to war
to acquire more
  Land

We go to war
to protect our investment
  the Oil 'neat the sand

We go to war
to depose your 'evil leader'
  strike up the band

We go to war
because we're right and you're wrong
  about internet broadband

We go to war
because your country is corrupt, impure
  as your dark-colored hands...

So, many will die
wives and mothers will cry
the world will shrug and sigh
  commentators will ask Why...

Whatever the reason
There's no way to 'ease in'
So many will die ~
  Can't war just be banned

Premium Member Good Dogs Go To Heaven

She had four long legs and a curved tail
with a smile that made you happy
She had big ears and eyes full of care
and ways that were fun and sappy
She had a big heart and a loud bark
She could look dumb but be so smart
She was loyal and true
She could chase away the blues
and she always knew
that I loved her too
I miss her so
Hard to let her go
Good dogs go to Heaven
she will be waiting for me at the Pearly Gates
Peter will let us in
She jumps with joy as I hug my friend
asking with those big soft eyes
trying to keep mine dry
why are you so late
it's hard for a dog to wait

Stars Go To Sleep

Stars! Why be awake with me
Hit the bed and go to sleep
You are not enslaved by agony but free
My bleeding soul’s wounds are deep

Through my open window you peep
With your twinkling searching eyes
Your glow in my gloomy nights creep
With the grace of the fireflies

Someone gifted me sleeplessness
And rewarded me with anguish
My nights darkness and gloom dress
Like out of water fish I languish

Why be overly worried for me
A day may return my deserted sleep
Setting from the bondage my soul free
When that happens you must not weep.

Stars! I beseech go to sleep!

Premium Member Farewell I Go To Dwell

Under the awaking dawn
I sit, tracing the sea's yawn
Of innumerable sand grains,
Swell waves without reins.

Light scattering, exciting risin
Reflections off the horizon
The lull breeze caress silence
Like your arms once presence

Held me tightly in its embrace.
Tho, I still, you I chase.

Bragging to the stars I dwell
The last time I saw you- Farewell,
I said against you I did whisper
In a faint whimper.

Your last kiss
I do miss

Where Do Frogs Go To Think

WHERE DO FROGS GO TO THINK?

Where do frogs go when they need to think?
I've often wondered where.
When they're not feeling quite in the pink
do they hide under the stairs?

Do they feel like they must follow rules
and stick to a Lilly pad?
Or can they hide in a shed full of tools
when they are feeling sad?

What if a frog felt like being alone
away from his froggy friends
Where could he go to be unknown?
Well, I guess that depends.

He couldn't go to the circus or show,
he would never be sold a seat,
he would not like a plateau of cold snow
it would be very tough on his feet.

French restaurants are not the place for him,
and he would not like to see a bait shop
but he might make some friends over at the gym
and he would be a big hit at the hop!

He could go to the library, its quiet in there
maybe catch up on some old books.
Or he could ask the beavers to share their lair,
he tried the geese and got some funny looks.

It needs to be safe, it needs to be quiet,
it needs to be worry free,
he needs to have access to his daily diet
of flies, bugs, worms, and bees.

Maybe under some roots, or the edge of a bog,
some place that might make him glad,
side of a meadow, or an old rotten log,
or even his own lilly pad.

And what would a frog think about,
when they take the time?
Do they think about flies, or avoiding trout?
That is a question for another rhyme.

I Go To Pray

I go to pray

I go upon the hill
to talk to Creator
I need no building made by man
To pay respects to he who created all

I sing his praises
to the wind
I need no choirs to echo
My sacred song of gratitude

I walk gently upon the Earth
holding a prayer stick in my hands
I need no collection plate
For Grandfather to hear my prayer

I carry in my heart
All ancestors who came before
I need no alter for a candle
For their light shines in my spirit

I raise my hands to the sky
Allowing my spirit to soar above
I need not bow my head
For I am not ashamed

Premium Member I Will Go To My Lord

How many times will I wonder?
Why laughter seems to heal?
Why shadows will conceal?
Why light shines to appeal?

How many times will I ponder?
Where do butterflies rest?
Where do tangerine sunsets protest?
Where do stardust moments attest?

How many times will I wonder?
Why does the moon whisper through the dark?
Why does the rose confess its beauty mark?
Why does the music caress the skylark?

How many times will I ponder?
Where do silent hopes to hearts cling?
Where do all the dreams gather in the spring?
Where do notes compose so they sing?

How many times will I wonder?
Where do dreams breathe into the day?
Where do angels go to pray?
Where do miracles create a bouquet?

How many times will I ponder?
Where do beliefs capture the soul?
Where do love’s promises make me whole?
Where do joy and peace combine to console?

How many times will I wonder?
Where can I go to praise my God?
Where can I go to cry out how I’m awed?
Where can I go to shout my love abroad?

How many times will I ponder?
Where shall His grace bring true salvation?
Where shall true love last the duration?
Where shall my heart and soul show admiration?

I will go to my Lord, to my Father, to my Jesus
I will go to the One who makes me who I am
The One who died for my sin and rose again
The light of my life and the savior of my soul
Christ, my sweet Savior… who I totally adore!

Premium Member I Will Go To Jail Instead of a Nursing Home

During lunch I announced when I retire I am going to go to jail.
What?
Jail, I repeated. I will rob a bank or something.
The three others laughed.

Think about it, I told them. How much do nursing homes cost?
They started to think about it and discussed how much they
Were already paying for their own mothers
$4,500 a month $8,000 a month, $10,000 a month.
Jail is free right? To the prisoner anyway, not to the rest of us.

I could play cards, make lots of new friends, and maybe write poetry
New story ideas I’ll bet, maybe some really juicy new story ideas!

My family would save thousands of dollars, maybe even tens of thousands
Of dollars.

How would you get in? I would rob a bank, I told them. No one laughed.
They were thinking…..
Then all three burst out laughing.

I could! I insisted, convincing no one, not even myself.

We Used To Go To the Store Together

We used to go to the store together.
Picking out vegetables was her Glory,
‘Let’s get a nice, Vibrant one!
No, not that one, THIS one!’
She would say.
She aimed for the vegetables
When we arrived,
Like a kid aims for the cotton candy
At a carnival.
Vegetables!

And then, I would try to be efficient –
‘You get this, and I’ll get that,’ I would say
But, ‘No, I want to come with You,’ she would say.
‘Let’s go and look at the vegetables first,
You always like that.’
‘Okay!’ and then she would aim for the peaches,
Fresh and sweet and not on the list,
Just after she’d said, ‘okay, let’s stick to the list,
Mother Mary says to get everything on the list
And nothing else’
And, when I would ask her about it, she would say,
‘Mother Mary says it’s okay!’

So, our lists were never set in cement,
Unless I went in by myself,
And then she would say, when I got home,
Or out to the car, if she was waiting there,
Did you get me bananas?’
‘NO,’ I said, ‘they weren’t on the list’
And ‘oh,’ she said, crestfallen, ‘I asked Mother Mary
To TELL you to get them, and she said yes…’
So, I would rush back to the store, or rush back in,
If she was out waiting in the running car
With the window open, and the A/C on,
And GET THE BANANAS,
And she liked that.

So, we used to go to the store, and now,
I think I will take her along with me,
Now she is gone,
And get her advice – it is always good advice,
I am not especially good at picking the ‘right’ vegetables…

Premium Member Thoughts Go To Hide

Upon the golden clouds slowly floating by
I see the light of the setting sun in distant sky
This new winter day slowly leaves to bring rest
Quietly showing a pure creation of the finest
Sight to be seen above snow covered ground
Where peaceful thoughts are here to be found
The clouds dissolve in a background of ocean blue
As everything transforms with an outstanding view
There is warmth in the heart that is residing inside
Watching, waiting, as fluttering thoughts go to hide

The Place Where Dreams Go To Die

I know of a place
it's not very far
just knowing it's there makes me cry

There's a road going in
so heavily traveled
it's the place where dreams go to die

Too many people
have visited there
that graveyard of ideas and hopes

Their last respects paid
they leave broken hearted
and bound by invisible ropes

For they had grown weary
of deep disappointments
and losing the joy they once knew

And battered and bruised
they silently wept
believing their dreams won't come true

The graves are unkempt there
grown over with weeds
and the wreckage of lives gone to waste

What drove those who go
to that sad destination
has such a familiar taste

I wish I had never
found my way here
I've been down this road once or twice

In searching for peace
I've let go of dreams
and that is a costly price

So take it from me
Turn back while you can
You’ve no further need to ask why

Live your life to the full
And never return
To the place where dreams go to die

Premium Member Don'T Go To L

I seek it here, seek it there
I cannot find this L word anywhere
L is the start of many words
Some of which are never heard
When going to kindy or at school
Is it because L isn't cool
Like Lancelot and Lalawithika
(I don't think that names a sticker)
Lalawithika what a handle
It does not hold a candle
To other names like Milton
Milton who lived at the Hilton
With his parents and brother Mel
Milton's first name began with L
Perhaps L. Milton is too shy
To let us into his secret why
He does not use this letter, so
We may never know
Why Milton will not tell

MAY YOU GO TO THE LAND OF PEACE,
WHERE EVERYTHING IS FORGOTTEN AND ALL IS REMEMBERED

MAY YOU GO TO THAT SPECIAL PLACE WHERE THE SKY
                           IS FILLED

Whenever I Go To Post a Reply

Whenever I go to post a reply
To the comments by my souper friends
Error 400 turns up and stands by
Refusing to send my reply to the other end

Naturally I have to redo the whole process
In almost every reply window
Consuming additional time resulting in stress
Making a normally fast job a thing very slow

I don't know if others are experiencing this too
A peculiar issue found in no other site
And which I am almost forced to do
Telling upon thereby my only pure delight

Hence my decision that henceforth no reply
I will write to appreciate the kind comments of my friends
Instead I will comment on what they write
Where I am yet to go through repeated attempts

Hope my dear fellow poets will kindly bear with this
So that I may keep enjoying poetry soup’s pink bliss

Go To Hell

(This is a fictional poem)

You called me a bastard and that was uncalled for.
I don't want to be your friend anymore.
You're not only a jerk, you're a loser as well.
I'm tired of taking your abuse so you can go to Hell.
