We Go To War

We go to war
to acquire more
  Land  

We go to war
to protect our investment
  the Oil 'neat the sand

We go to war
to depose your 'evil leader'
  strike up the band

We go to war
because we're right and you're wrong
  about internet broadband

We go to war
because your country is corrupt, impure
  as your dark-colored hands...

So, many will die
wives and mothers will cry
the world will shrug and sigh
  commentators will ask Why...

Whatever the reason
There's no way to 'ease in'
So many will die ~
  Can't war just be banned

I am joining you in this argument to ban war. " We go to war because we're right and you're wrong" Isn't this silly? Can't we sometimes all be right even if we have differing opinions?

I sure remember that song, Evelyn. The answer to their question was 'Absolutely nothing.' But some would tell you that it takes a nation's mind off of its internal problems; others would assure you that defense contractors get filthy rich trying out their toys on innocent girls and boys. :) gw

I think you're on to something here, Gershon. I, too, think we should just ban wars, unless in defense of our country. I'm fairly certain humanity has never acknowledged the sheer folly of fighting over "things."

War as a last resort would go a long way toward easing tensions. Even some defensive wars can be stopped in their tracks. What if the whole world had stood up to Putin when he took Crimea and parts of Ukraine. He would have had to back down. :) gw

We go to war primarily to provide our miitary with experience, and to test new killing equipment and techniques on foreign land, e.g., Afghanistan, a place like Viet Nam where we know we can not win, but they have to deal with the devastation ......Aloha! Rico

The media magnify everything. It's nowhere near as bad as they make it appear. Truth will out eventually, and I hope it outs the media of their perch atop a crazy house of their own making. How's that for 'instant analysis?' lol. We'll see what happens, J.P!
