Be Not Tempted By Gold's Glittering Brights

Where couldst man find rest when heart has deceived
loved ones he wouldst happily give his all,
whilst on dark paths, false laurels thus received
profits only fools under fallen walls!

Shadows presenting wicked and false lights
oft penetrate even truest of hearts,
find only false moons on blackest of nights
sailing on festered seas with lying charts!

Hold firm sweet truth, know its blessings are fair
life is far more than wealth gotten with schemes,
its love and family with friends to share
treasures and bounty from realized dreams!

Be not tempted by gold's glittering brights.
Embracing such greed brings saddest of plights.

Premium Member Glittering Ocean Surface

The ocean's surface glitters,
Reflecting the eyes of all,
As smiling spectators gather,
To witness nature's call.

The waves crash against the shore,
In a mesmerizing dance,
As the sun's rays shine down,
Creating a sparkling trance.

The colors of the water,
Are ever-changing and bold,
As the deep blues turn to greens,
And the purples start to unfold.

The creatures of the deep
Are hidden from our view,
But their presence can be felt.
In the way the water subdue.

The ocean's surface glitters,
In a display of pure delight,
As we stand in awe and wonder,
At its magnificent sight.

As the moon bathes me with ardent solace where does my day lead,
as I’m drawn to you with bleeding tears

I will trace your lead in this concrete web
Holding effortlessly still
surrounded by dim veil

City illumination lends means
to its forged beating soul
Intoxicating control
drawing to false streets of dreams

Sightless to being
Dismiss urge to yield to a
submissive embrace
Enraptured by seductive
city glittering nightlife

A Glittering Reflection In the Sun

I was a fool who made waste in this parsimonious world.
It was nonsensical of me to think that I could find comfort
outside the covenant of your love.
When I was famished you became my portion.

When my soul was distant from the truth and I was spiraling
down into darkness, you lit before mine eyes a flaming light of
wisdom.
I am redeemed.
You are my redeemer.
I am the river.
You are the source.
I am born again.
You are my deliverer.
I am a glittering reflection in the sun.

Glittering Generalities

GLITTERING GENERALITIES

I vow that you will be happily effected
If I am elected by your selection
At the forthcoming election.
With great dedication
I shall diligently bother
To uphold the glory of this great nation
Founded by our forefathers!
National debt,
Is dragging us under,
Forlornly unmet,
Tearing us asunder!
I shall keep economy healthy
By reducing taxes on the wealthy,
And allowing banks to freely operate
With no control of interest rates.
I shall supply for those who behave
Complete care, cradle to the grave.
Increased medical care for the elderly,
Even youth, rash and pimply.
Our democracy will be securely laid
In backward nations
By increasing foreign aid,
And greater exportation.
I’m a strong proponent of women’s rights.
Against abortion I will continue to fight.
We’ll peacefully solve disputes
By fair judiciary
And dig out their roots
By increased military.
So, as you can see
As I’ve said repeatedly,
It is my intention
To reduce government intervention,
So that we can get
Out of our national debt.

A Glittering Candle Flame

A candle flame does not flutter
And is not extinguished,
For it is determined to glitter
And not to be tarnished!
Said “ Dear devout,
Halt a moment and hark!
Here is a blemish-less monk,
Even in the dark!!”

The Glittering Multitudes

The voices asked me, how I am?
Told them,"Fine", they won't understand.
The Cassiopeia seemed to ask again,
The same question I've been imagining for days.

While gazing out of the French window,
And watching the beautiful but fatal snow,
I wonder how a man would feel,
Packed in the same snow and sealed;
Gazing those glittering multitudes,
And seeing no warmth or pity in those few.

Years later, I'm back to this place,
Everything's same from the window to the snowflakes.
The weather here's still cold,
But so am I now.

The gust came uninvited,
Through the French window.
And so the old story reignited,
As I watched the mountains of snow.

Now when I think about the old man,
I think how funny it was for him to die,
While he kept expecting warmth under that spruce..
From all those merciless glittering multitudes.....

Glittering In the Golden Years

Oh, shiny gold
Reflect light to lead my way
Home away from home
Simpler times gave way to now

Oh, my friend
Oh, my simple shining friend
You were there
As a child went through life

Now a man
Now a man grants you your life again
Not the same, yet
You’re welcomed blurred through tears

Oh, my friend
You kept me waiting for too long
You shaped my life
Now let me give my gift to you

Restore life
It’s been so long
Oh, my friend
Welcome back into this brave new world

Glittering

All around me
I notice glittering lights that seem so bright
in a dark world.

At night
I look up at the sky
And see glittering and twinkling stars.
They seem so far away
But give me a sense of joy

At night in the sky
I also see the moon
Glittering happily
And keeping me safe

During the day
I see the sun
Glittering so brightly it burns my eyes to look at

I also see glitter in the eyes
Of my fellow human beings that I pass by
On a daily basis

When my eyes glance at the ground
I see litter glittering like gold.
I want to scoop up all the litter that glitters
And throw the glittering litter in the garbage

As you can see glitter is all around me
Not just all around me
All around you as well
So lets all embrace glitter
And live a joyful life full of glitter
And not litter

The Beautiful and Glittering Trophy

During my poetical career I had never received a trophy,
I exploded with joy when I received it by first class...
"Enjoy your reward!" read a note signed by Laura Mckenzie;
and this first prize is my achievement for future success!

Entering poetry contests is fun and rewarding to a greater extent,
and any price is a rare opportunity to bask in your talent;
poets never get rich in this non-lucrative trend,
but satisfaction and accomplishment go hand in hand!

Thanks, Laura for the beautiful and glittering trophy, which I have placed on
my highest library shelf for all to see and admire; it actually seems small...
compared to those given to movie or music stars,
but it is the grandest and preciousest by all means!

Like a gladiator in Ancient Rome winning that fierce fight,
standing in front of a wooing and delirious crowd before dusk...
and being honored by the Emperor with the gift of freedom,
I am also set free by the excitement of my enthusiasm!

Yes, my trophy has gladdened me, and one unexpected day,
I may win the Nobel price, too...who says that's an impossibility?
More passion and desire I will put in my work, and I will not fray!
My confidence will feed that fire and with undefeatism I begin today!

My poem is dedicated to Laura Mckenzie, who was the source
of my inspiration.

Beneath the Glittering Dust

In the heart of the jungle,
where trees whisper secrets to the wind,
the earth bleeds gold,
and with it,
dreams torn from the hands of the desperate.

Here, shadows move in silence,
not creatures of the night,
but lives unseen—
women with hollow eyes
that hold the weight of too many nights
and not enough mornings.

The air is thick, heavy with promises
whispered by men
whose hands reek of violence
and greed—
gold-streaked hands
that clutch at flesh
as if it were the earth they are mining.

Despair lingers in every corner,
in the broken smiles of the forgotten,
in the laughter that turns to sobs
in the small hours
when darkness swallows the stars whole.

Loneliness stalks like a predator,
its claws raking across fragile dreams,
its breath hot with the stench
of lives reduced to shadows,
of hopes smothered under the weight
of the unyielding soil.

Each day begins with the same question:
how much is a soul worth
when weighed against gold?
How much blood
for a fleeting glint
of sunlight in the dust?

Memories of home—
fields that once held
the promise of fruit and freedom—
haunt the edges of their minds,
replaced by barren landscapes,
by rivers poisoned
and hearts hardened.

And yet,
in the spaces between despair,
there is the faintest trace
of a song long forgotten,
a fragment of a dream
that refuses to be silenced.

But the jungle hums louder.
The machines roar.
The men shout.
And the women walk on,
their bodies bearing
the weight of the world’s greed,
their lives swallowed
by the glittering dust.
