A parade of virginal buds peep in delight
Feasting on the wonder of spring reborn
Dressed in purple, orange and red sunlight
The rhapsody of garlands kindles new dawn
As crimson sky rolls the hues upon thirsty lawn

Swelling with April’s vow of cherished flings
When passion beams long after hours fade to dusk
And each burst of gaiety blooms on firefly wings
Enticing one radiant day to strip clouds’ husk
With pleas for an extended spring, do we dare to ask?

All preparation had been completed
The big night was finally here
At three in the afternoon I went to dress rehearsal
Stood on the Gaiety stage for the first time - I didn’t have any fear!
Three lovely ladies
We were standing behind our microphones
Reciting our poems .. to an audience of ONE
Rows and rows of empty seats – tonight they would soon fill
Would nerves finally hit me, would I start to feel ill …

We had a few hours to kill before the show would start
Hubby and I went for a meal before I played my part
I dressed in my lovely frock – our act would all wear black and white
The theatre was a sell out, much to our delight

The performance kicked off at eight o’clock
Our slot was in the second half so we sat and watched the show
Joined in with the audience from spare seats on the back row
Time passed by so quickly once the show had begun
We rolled about with laughter the acts were such great fun

The interval came and we had to go
Soon the time would come for us to perform
It was freezing cold backstage I wore my cardigan to keep warm!
Our names were announced and we walked onto the stage
Lights shone down on the three of us
But the audience was a sea of faces in the dark
I was first to recite my poem
‘Seven men you definitely wouldn’t want to date’
Not a sign of stage fright at all
Di recited ‘The Fine’ and Irene ‘1958’
Then it was back to me with ‘Just Desserts’
It was the very first funny poem I’d written
Di’s ‘Night Nuisance’ and Irene’s ‘A Transcript’ poems followed
With poetry we are all smitten
With massive smiles on our faces we walked off the stage
Came back later to take a bow
The audience applause was rapturous – I can still hear it in my head now!

Last night I performed on stage at a charity event in front of 600 people … it was my first time on a ‘proper’ stage at the Victorian Gaiety Theatre and was the most incredible night of my life! The night raised awareness of Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimer's and raised over £6000 ($7410) from ticket sale alone - there were bucket collections too.

What the hell happened???

Macabre Gaiety

Take my senses away
Make me crazy,
Stir some memories
Make a story;

Oh, Love me to death,
Give me a life then kill me.

Show me the way
Then lead me astray,
Enrich me with love
Then waylay me;

Be my friend, betray me,
Be my God, bedevil me.

Let's congregate in a tavern
Worship in this safe haven,
Follow no faith
Pander to no priest;

Let's hobnob with the angels,
Befriend the demons on the sly.

Drag my soul through the desert
Then carouse there in an oasis,
Set me ablaze with your passion
Then douse it with your sweat;

Let's sleep on a bed of cactuses
And thumb our noses at the heavens.

Ha, let's grow up
And just kid around,
Lie down in a grave
And wake up in a cradle;

Let's usurp the world from Atlas
And rattle the hell out of its core!

She awoke to dawn’s crispy rising,
her head filled with tasks for the day
and what she found surprising,
the time was here, come what may.

The eventful night must be perfection.
It was in the planning for ages.
Each detail sans objection,
having gone through many stages.

This graduation was like no other,
her eldest son with top honor.
Recalling his small voice, “Mother”,
a melancholy fell upon her.

The evening came, a noted benchmark.
The gaiety of youth lit the sky with dreams,
each other’s thought became hope’s spark.
A mother’s tears glittered down in streams.

Autumn Gaiety

leaves fall on the ground,
dancing, Oh, glistening!
on the grass carpet.

A Loving Heart

I love you with my entire heart
Feeling your devotion
Basking in my arms, my dear one
Revere me through
Everything, that is in you
The spirit of your beauty
Under this summer gaiety
Time of upbeat, and fun enjoyment
Amid crown of lights brilliant
Illuminates all things, considered
With quiet night devoted
Murkiness flies, and all is light
You twinkle in the night
To hear you murmur, sweetly, smart
I love you with my entire heart

Listen!
Hey,
Jamie,
You got to understand,
Rob was so devastated,
Hmmm!
Right on,
See this is the situation,
My old lady,
I'm not doing this!
Reise, Reich, Renae
Is anyone still quick on your toes?
How many days in repeat?
All sound is contained in my auditory canal.
Where is yours?
Frontal lobe overhaul equals Mental Illness.

Oh and gun control to the max!
