A wise and sentimental one
Who lived and loved some years ago
Had crossed my path along the way
As i recall that Autumn day

By happenstance of lucky charm
As neighbors, then good friends we were
Though she was of another time
We found our words would always rhyme

A turning point that was for me
A home to call my very own
My life was just about to start
Forever called to gift my heart

She taught me not to fear my age
As life awaits then passes by
To always laugh and find the sun
And share my love with everyone

Though she’s been gone these many years
And I’m now where she was in life
I oft remember our exchange
When my world turns so cold and strange

Of many themes, we’d share our thoughts
She helped me grow, to find my strength
Yet one remains above them all
“Into each life some rain must fall”

Shattered glass
Broken promises
Loves untied knots
Black roses weaving in summer winds

We all will die, the days are duly marked
In the book of reaping angels
Who till the fields of human decay
Whom take what they can, young or old

Piano keys sound the waltz
Of the oncoming
Shaking fingers and smiles to deny
The raven will have his feast

The death of you is at hand
The death of me was long ago
Yet I still breathe, and you still smile
I am full of tears, you my friend are life

A life to be stolen
As we sit silently
Knowing my hands are as useless as yours
Later smile upon me, and welcome me over

I who have lost long ago
Walks along the shoreline of hell
Alone, no hand to hold
Wishing it could have been me

Little blue bird
                         without a name
                                It's you I heard
                                    I play your game
                                       High in that tree
                                    You sing a song
                            And you want me
                  To fly along
             The beach is near
              But stars are far
                  A sky so clear
               And then we are
        Above the clouds
      The clear blue sea
       We sing out loud
           Just you and me

Premium Member A Silly Rhyme For a Friend Sublime

He’s so super, duper
That guy, he’s a trooper
He’s a fellow Souper
He's no party pooper
His name?
Yea…It’s Cooper!

His first name? It’s Shane
Brings pleasure, not pain
He handles insane
This friendship won’t wane
He shows no disdain
That great guy named Shane

Shane Cooper, you’re sweet
You’re friendship’s a treat
Every day there's a tweet
To help me on my feet
So here’s a rhyme greet!

I’ll save you a seat
At the bar when we meet
Come rain, hail, or sleet
We'll toast the elite
Down on PS Street!

Thanks for being such a fab friend…Your daily encouragement has meant the world to me. You're not afraid of my CRAZY! You need a medal! Hugs

Wishes For a Friend

To my best friend, I wish you peace
beyond this moment’s breath.
of prayerful mind as thoughts unwind,
I wish you happiness.

I came to call on you today
with clover in my palm,
of emerald fine, the four-leaf kind,
my spirit wished you calm.

You’ve forsaken love again…
Oh friend, why guard your heart
from taste of wine, affections fine?
With warm tears, you depart.

I wish for your life health and joy,
a hand to hold your dreams…
contented days, passion always,
lips iced in buttercream.

My sweet friend, you deserve romance
and nights of ravished skies -
a million stars strung from afar
over ecstatic cries.

True love comes maybe once a life;
true love, they say, is rare.
For you, my friend, I’d share my truth,
to show how much I care.

A love rooted deep in friendship,
my friend, you’re my soulmate.
Our love shall grow to heights of stars;
surrender to our fate.

I wish for you, dear friend, great love.
I wish this for me, too.
With sun and moon and hearth to guide,
I’ll give my love to you.

Premium Member Sonnet For a Friend

When last the Angels come to take me home
I'll pause in sheltered memories I leave
and peacefully my mind will surely roam
within the quiet calm that they conceive.
Your lair and guarded threshold beckoned me,
though hidden well behind tradition's door
and wrapped within your Mama's wistful pleas,
still, couldn't hide the heart I so adored.
Much like the fabled Montague of old,
I dared the very doorstep where you slept
- in kindred sharing laughed with truths you told
and gently swept the happy tears you wept.
The twilight glows upon what love begets;
forever you remain my Capulet ...

A Poem For a Friend

EVERY DAY THAT GOES BY
I ALWAYS QUESTION MYSELF WHY
THAT LIFE HAS TO BE SO UNFAIR
WHEN I WALK IN THE HOUSE AND YOU`RE NOT THERE

GROWING UP OVER THE BORDER A FAMILY OF FIVE
I STILL CAN`T BELIEVE DAD THAT YOU ARN`T ALIVE
YOU AND VERY CLOSE MATE GEORGE BROWN
IN THE GLASS BARRELL OR A PUB IN THE TOWN

AND EVERYONE THAT YOU DID KNOW
SAY THERE`S JOE AND GEORGE FROM THE MUPPET SHOW
YOU LOVED GOING OUT AND PLAYING POOL DOUBLES
A NICE FEW PINTS AND HOME.... NO TROUBLES

DAD IT WILL BE SO HARD FOR ME
TO FULlFIL YOUR WISHES, YOUR ASHES AT SEA.

WROTE FOR A FRIEND WHO`S FATHERS MEMORIAL IS COMING UP

Afraid of Love - For a Friend

I understand
Truely I do
You forget dear friend,
I am in fact like you.
I was once afraid,
and if truth must be told,
I continue to be afraid,
even as my Darling and I grow old.
We each have our own hopes,
and with each soul comes individual dreams.
To find someone who is compatable is a terrifying thing.
But no life is a waste, no presence is less than the other,
your co-ed was wrong, as was my mother.
I understand your fear,
I once drowned in it myself,
running away, pushing away help.
I wanted to be touched,
I wanted to be loved,
but It was like a fire,
so beautiful I was afriad I would burn.
You must swallow your fear,
wade into the water,
once you find your own Dear,
you will calm and know that there is no other.
It wont come at first,
its a gradual thing,
but when you feel that tug on your heart,
do not cut the strings.
You dont just hurt yourself,
you hurt those that care,
the ones that dream, to be in your air.
Open your heart,
and be not afraid,
soon it will come and you will rejoyce in the day.

Premium Member Searching For a Friend

He is all that: a stranger
 to himself.
a stranger, searching for a friend
In him there is such sadness
In his smiles his eyes never light
                     That is how he is
  My stretching hand meets resistance
 plastered over his handsome face
A smile is only outside,
 it can be taught
  it can be learned
                     Real smiles only live inside
                    in the heart of hearts
                   the very soul
People, so unkind, their words
flowing like a river of judgment
  walking oblivious over his open
   for everyone to see inside
They do not turn, they walk on
  His silent face reflects only
hurt in his eyes, his smile remains
Even if I cannot be with him anymore
Even if I cannot do that
Cannot bear to do that anymore
I will be in his life, how could
     I leave him, we're dedicated
Strangers and we love.

Premium Member A Prayer For a Friend

I pray for your faith
That it will always sustain you
Bring you through the worst
And abide with you in good times

I pray for your hope
That it always makes a way
Even where there seems no chance
There is always a opportunity

I pray for your joy
That it keeps you filled up
With a feeling of pure compassion
Sensitivity filled with acceptance

I pray for your peace
That it leaves you with serenity
Brings you the true harmony
That withstands all chaotic moments

I pray for your strength
That you’re always filled with courage
And moments of pure resolution
That keeps you alive with enthusiasm

I pray for your fulfillment
That you are filled to overflowing
With a sense of overwhelming caring
That comes from knowing the Lord

I pray for your love
That it may always come from above
Filling you with more kindness
Than could be spoken with mere words

Asking For a Friend

Was I once your cherished friend?
Was it so until the end?
While we shared so many miles
did I ever make you smile?

Did my friendship comfort you
when your heart was broke in two?
Was I not just as elated
any time you celebrated?

Did you miss me very much
during times when we lost touch?
Did you value me at all?
Was I even worth a call?

How I would have liked to hear
anything from you, my dear
How I wish you would have tried
For you see, today I died

Premium Member A Limerick For a Friend

I once had a friend like you
And I knew her friendship was true
We always had so much fun
Telling each other everything under the sun
Of all our secrets and everything we would do

But you know that friend who was like you
She did another thing that you like to do
She went and told just about every one
Of all the things I had ever done
I was so surprised of the way she was untrue

I bet you didn’t think these things I knew
Would ever be found not even a few
But you see I know what to look for in a person
It’s to know that no one is true with their own emotion
So you see everyone tells someone of the things they do

I Ask God For a Friend ,He Sent Me You

I ASK GOD FOR A FRIEND ,HE SENT ME YOU

I ASKED THE LORD TO SEND ME A FRIEND
                     SOMEONE THATS HONEST AND TRUE,
AND BEFORE I EVEN KNEW IT
THAT FRIEND HE GAVE ME WAS YOU

I ASKED HIM TO FIND SOMEONE SPECIAL
THAT WOULD TOUCH MY HEART EACH DAY
AND HELP ME FACE THE BURDENS
THAT LIFE HAS THROWN MY WAY......

YOU HAVE BEEN A TREASURE TO ME
                     THAT MONEY COULD NEVER BUY,
AND I HAVE COME TO LOVE YOU
MORE THEN ALL THE STARS IN THE SKY.......

YOU HAVE BLESSED ME MORE THEN YOU KNOW
AND WE BONDED RIGHT FROM THE START....
FOR YOU HAVE BECOME MY ANGEL
AND NOW YOU HAVE STOLEN MY HEART...

I CANNOT EVER THANK YOU ENOUGH
                   FOR BEING THAT SPECIAL FRIEND,
AND I WILL CHERISH THAT SPECIAL FRIENDSHIP
                   RIGHT TO THE VERY END...............

YOU ARE ONE SPECIAL ANGEL OF MINE
SO I THOUGHT THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
IN VALUE YOU ARE MORE PRECIOUS
THEN ALL THE RICHES OF GOLD...

YOU MAKE ME LAUGH,WHEN MY PAIN IS HARD
AND YOU BRIGHTEN UP MY FACE,
AND I THANK MY LORD HE GAVE ME YOU
                  THROUGH HIS AMAZING GRACE......

THIS FRIENDSHIP WE SHARE WILL NEVER FADE
ITS TUCKED DEEP INSIDE MY HEART,
AND I WANT TO TELL YOU MY ANGEL FRIEND
I HAVE LOVED YOU RIGHT FROM THE START

Premium Member Requiem For a Friend

A friend is one who sees you not as weak
But in the process of becoming strong
Who listens long and well as others speak
Not judging but encouraging along

Though in the very prime of life, a friend
Thought not of me as old or out-of-style
With genuine affection he'd extend
A laugh, a handshake, hug, or friendly smile

And you, kind sir, were just that friend to me
Although we met not frequently enough
With not a bone of insincerity
You lived as advertised: the real stuff

We spoke of sports, for this was common ground;
Of baseball, football, hoops, and favorite teams
Of quarterbacks or pitchers on the mound
Of Super Bowl, Olympic, World Cup dreams

You're gone too soon; too many words unspoken
Too little water passed under our bridge
Now through my tears I see that bridge is broken
But to have known you was my privilege.

When I Loved a Fisherman - For a Friend -

We were sitting
In your house by the beach
And you were making us drinks

I think they were strawberry margaritas
I said to you
What kind of man
Drinks strawberry margaritas?

We laughed and laughed
Til we couldn’t laugh anymore
Tears running down our eyes

We shared a night
A perfect night
With some wine and then
We talked til the sun
Came up, and once again

Before I knew it
I had to leave
How can I leave
When all I want to do
Is stay
Here with you

But my man
You’re someone else’s man
And that’s not the kind of man
That I want to want

But I know, I know
That there’s things
In this life
That people can’t help

And darlin’
I can’t help it
I know
That this
Is how it’s supposed to be

And even if the timings wrong
I don’t care
Coz I’ve waited for
Far too long

For someone
Like you to
Make me smile again
The way that you do

Someone like you
There’s always someone
Like you

The one
That someone

That one who got away
