Those stars that sailors follow
Guiding less the sea to swallow
And the night seas black as tar
Beyond the wave a land afar
Halyards taught, blocks in tallow
Breezes fresh and salt swallow
Timbers creak, white horses foam
Callused hands and oceans comb
And the stars pull them forth
South, east, west and north
Cabin boy or salty jack
Afore the mast, bare their back
Seas of glass or howling gales
Stands his watch what ever ails
For them the ocean a magic place
For every dawn a changing face
The face of his one true love
The wind, stars, skies above
Follow Your Heart
Father Time has brought us safely thus far
And our future is not tied to some distant star.
We’ve always had each other’s arms
That kept us together and safe from all harm.
Yet, all our yesterdays now stand alone.
And we know that tomorrow is not cast in stone,
Where once we saw happiness, now there is pain
It seems memories and heartaches are all that remain.
So, when life seems the darkest and troubles appear
And all the world’s dangers, alarmingly near,
Remember our love - let it play its part
And don’t be afraid to follow your heart.

Father’s bare feet left footprints in the sand
Young son followed, each step carefully planned
Tim wanted so much to be like his Dad
Always emulating, quite a sweet lad
So as you leave impressions on life’s shore
Remember your path will not be ignored
Tread gently, leave prints that make your kids proud
Step far away from the perilous crowd
Stop at times, build sandcastles, pick up shells
Memories can’t be erased by sea swells
Imprints on children’s hearts last forever
Keep this in mind through every endeavor
A child may be following your footsteps
Always make your marks with loving precepts

Follow me, my dear, to mythical shores of hypnotic dream,
Sail on my fantasies, driving passions of your zealous theme,
Afloat on tides of longing, musing on love’s passionate seas,
Vying paradise of bliss, propelling desires love-notions seize,
Savoring you in embrace romantic, ecstatic till the end of time,
Extolling life’s moments euphoric, alluring our love in prime.
As gilded smile of rising sun, sparkles gleaming skyline blue,
And ruby rays of dawn twinkle from glinting morning dew,
And meadows of spring-blossoms enthrall your fervid view,
And songs of our doting hearts, strumming love-tunes woo;
Cherishing memories enamored, forever vows we renew,
In Elysium of happiness, fate designed just for me and you.
Follow me, out of bleakness that questions meaning of life,
Follow me to enlightenment that negates angst of strife,
Follow me afar from the void of materiality, ego, and pride,
Follow me to the realms, that wisdom and virtues abide,
Follow me to self-awareness, questing halo of inner light,
Follow me on path to eternity, within walls of this life finite.
When streams of paper roses,
bleed bitter fragrances,
evil mists of leaves slowly fall,
drifting along autumnal
breeze of yesterdays.
And i question
unseen dirt trapped
between sharpened thorns:
what if the sun,
at the end of your horizon,
seems brighter
than the skies in my mind?
What if days are a little longer
than the spoonful of quiet nights
you’ve fought?
Would you still paint
hollow bones of every skeleton
in your glass closet,
with black and white traces
flickering through
sociopathic holes and into
the windows of your rusted soul?
But what if, all this time,
you’ve been seeing silver linings
through ruby tinted glasses,
whilst steadying
your befogged sight with the core
of the devil’s unspoken mantras?
Maybe, the fault is in what flows
beneath your thick flesh,
that refuses to let redolent air
to rush in,
unless wicked winds
orchestrate songs of your
delusional manifestation.
So unlock the rails of
your iron heart,
follow me to the fields
of fluorescent fuchsias;
for I’ve always dared
to speak invisible visions
of my scarlet desires,
as I run with teal green wildflowers,
where pleasure spells my name
across lawns
in soft lavender dusks.
I fear no mourning monsters
dressed in golden feathers;
virtual vultures
speaking in demonic dialects,
waltzing with energy vampires.
They pretend to be angels
of cyan eden, oblivious
to the burning hell they reek,
exhaling scripted sentiments
of sanctimonious metaphors.
Whilst rhyming with a
cruel conscience,
seeking for meaningless endings.
They craft empty
expressions in
ghostly recitations,
revised to ruin
every starry sphere,
where achromatic ink-sanity,
remains reluctant to
follow me and my moon.
The golden hour for rising has arrived, and there are violet roses in the sky,
So, I bid hello to you, my robust friend, as the vibrant, cerise birds float by.
The obsidian night, it was very long, and was filled with pleasant dreaming,
Like scenes from the heart of jade forests, where lush nature is screaming.
But the dark hours seem as ages past, since you have risen on the horizon,
Reflecting your glory in the limpid waters, as day slowly begins to brighten.
So nice to see you again, my old friend, peering in the doors and windows,
As beautiful songs from emerald trees, begin their daily, rapid crescendos.
Soon all the world will be colorful and glad, like skyward birthday balloons,
Drifting on backlit skies of somewhere, like the aromas of various blooms!
We've traveled a long way, you and I, and like orioles, we've gone together,
Screaming our joys at midday hour, as warmth blankets the divers weather.
You trail every individual, peach dawn to dusk, and from season to season,
Forever going in and out of our lives, silently, and without apparent reason.
My work as a seasonal park ranger, has kept me in the glitter of your gaze,
As gorgeous wildflowers pursue us all, down the myriad, natural pathways.
Living with my family and my cat, and having a happy life on Pretty Street,
We danced all through deep amber days, terribly soon to become obsolete.
And often enjoyed memorable outings, birthday parties, and get togethers,
Like the euphoria of your floral days, are inclined to following predecessors.
Days at the beach, days at the park, ballgames or fun backyard barbecues,
At the happiest of times, everyplace I look, the first thing that I see is you.
And in olden, golden days, when I played on and on, your warmth was felt,
Like the presence of bittersweet autumn rose, though unseen, lately smelt!
Sweet summer evenings, you gazed redly, to say your melancholy goodbye,
Like the redness that strangely appears, when you're trying hard not to cry.
Crickets in the lilac bush, butterflies in the grass, all smile to greet the sun,
And yellow days are started and soon done, in dreamlike, skyward visions!
Flowers titter in warm, fragrant meadows, and oceans shudder with delight,
People beam at your kind warmth, and robins sing once they see your light!
I love the myriads of mystic stream,
and so I wade into their wonder flow
and drift with them as if inside a dream.
I follow them wherever they may go.
I long to know their depths and be immerged,
to feel them fresh and singing in my soul;
to grasp them well, at times, I can be purged.
They glisten gold as fish among a shoal.
Immortal, they are yesteryear’s. . . Today
they tell the tales of old that never died.
I catch the ones with which I wish to play,
rejoicing when they take me for a ride. . .
When grouped uniquely they can soar like birds.
I’ll follow them forever - shining words!
*Not sure what to put in my note except that I sometimes try to emulate classic poets such as Emily Dickinson.

Lead and I will follow you, across the deepest seas
Sail on tranquil waters, on our quest for joy and peace
If you lead me I will follow you, onto the sands of the shores
Make love by the rippling waves
As I present to you, the gift that is rightfully yours
Lead and I will follow you, upon majestic mountain peaks
Stretch forth my hands to capture stars, respectfully place them at your feet
If you lead me I will follow you, deep into valleys low
Lie under peaceful skies, and watch the moon’s magnificent glow
Lead and I will follow you, across whimsical rolling plains
Stand with you under the heavens, as it pours down its fragment rains
If you lead me I will follow you, soaring the soothing skies
Fly in a world that is free of fear and doubts, for our eternal lives
Lead and I will follow you, discovering unknown lands
Journey the earth as man and wife; I will happily give you my hand.
If you lead me I will follow you, my predestined soul mate
Walk with you on streets of gold, as we enter heaven's pearly gates

The night is young,
the night is wild,
don't follow me.
You will find grey surprises,
you will be lost in the shade,
with no light to find a way.
The day is bright,
the day means light,
just follow me,
keep on my side.
Don' t be lost with a candle,
just follow me up there,
I will light the biggest torch
for you to walk safe.
Hell itself cannot burn any brighter
No faster than stars fuel the sky
I follow them all in search of heaven
But it’s us on Earth feeding that fire
They all fade slowly from existence
Spreading out right under my eyes
Not because they obey a command
In truth, there’s so much space to hide
I watch distance stretching on forever
As human intelligence restricts my mind
Nothing stays in the place it begins
Perceived certainty, or just plain lies
And I’ve many grave misgivings
about rockstars that chose to die
Did they tap into a secret chord
to find it was always background noise
Oh, I curse this whole damn cosmos
for creating such an impenetrable void
It knows nothing of fixed boundaries
Only how to dim despite all our sighs
Yes Lord I will follow You, knowing it’s the right thing to do.
To the depths of my being, I know I will be true.
I learned to really love You, and then I felt brand new.
Knowing it’s the right thing to do, Yes Lord, I will follow You.
Temptation had led me astray, in the past I was forlorn.
Younger and selfishly rebellious, til our first child was born.
I have faithfully followed You, seeing her from that day.
In the past I was forlorn, temptation had led me astray.
I hear You calling Lord, telling me which path to take.
It isn’t always straight forward, easy to divert by mistake.
I smile knowing I chose correctly when I hear You applaud.
Telling me which path to take, I hear You calling Lord.
Your love is within me, where evil thoughts could start.
I follow You, with all the love that’s in my heart.
You teach me kindness and forgiveness and sympathy.
Where evil thoughts could start, Your love is within me.
You lead me to peace, Yes I will follow you Lord,
You guide me to help others, never needing a reward.
You keep me humble, I know your guidance will not cease.
Yes I will follow you Lord, You lead me to peace.
Sometimes I walk this road alone -- Sometimes they follow me.
Sometimes the places that I go aren’t meant for them, but me.
And, as a poet, I have responsibility, and must step very carefully.
I write of things that I have done and things that I would be
Always aware, in my steps are those who follow me.
Some follow in blind loyalty, some by the trust they have in me.
Some come out of curiosity and some come with expectancy
To see me trip and fall.
And so before this journey ends I’m sure I’ll satisfy them all.

John Posey
When I’m sinful, as I am by nature…
Forget my wisdom and gossip or darken
My heart with hues of dread or desperation
Feelings felt by a heart who is disrespectful
One who knows they’re not following directions!
When I’m errant, as I have been know to be…
Following my nature instead of grace or peace
Heaven knows I feel as if I’ve fallen from grace
And that I have no chance of entering heaven’s gates
Or knowing the warm touch of my Father’s ways!
When I’m wicked, as I know that I can be…
Darkening the light that God’s glory always gives
Sighing with discontent, silencing my joy and faith
Reaching out toward the evil instead of the virtuous
There comes a shadow falling over my hopefulness
When I’m corrupt, as I would like to forget to be…
Risking my love on worries, fear and trepidation
Yearning for a chance to take back those things I did
The ones that taught me a lesson, but made me feel…
Like I was someone deserving of God’s rejection!
When I’m evil, as I am by my very nature…
I find my heart receding from the light that He gives me
Eclipsed by apprehension, trouble and darkest agonies
Yearning for the chance to get back to my best again
And give Him my sincere love - affection… praising eternally!
When I’m obnoxious, disgusting or unpleasant….
I know He still listens, despite my iniquity
He whispers…. “Child, you need my blessing”
“Please listen… follow my directions - please”
“Love, love, love… is the answer”… His wonderous correction!

Blackness comes tonight.
No matter how far you run,
Darkness will follow.
accidental boundaries crush despair easily, fragrant gravity heckles ignorance judiciously.
kindness levitates mindless numerology, overt principles qualm ridiculous sexualities.
transgressions uproot vindictive whippings. xanadu yields zero.
zoology yields xanax. whirls voice underground terrorism, syntax resonates quintessentially.
pragmatic oddities nosedive murderously. leperous kindergartens jumble idiosyncratic
hellholes. gyrating fondness etches disdain carefully. bespectacled academics.
