Follow Me

Yes Lord I will follow You, knowing it’s the right thing to do.
To the depths of my being, I know I will be true.
I learned to really love You, and then I felt brand new.
Knowing it’s the right thing to do, Yes Lord, I will follow You.

Temptation had led me astray, in the past I was forlorn.
Younger and selfishly rebellious, til our first child was born.
I have faithfully followed You, seeing her from that day.
In the past I was forlorn, temptation had led me astray.

I hear You calling Lord, telling me which path to take.
It isn’t always straight forward, easy to divert by mistake. 
I smile knowing I chose correctly when I hear You applaud.
Telling me which path to take, I hear You calling Lord.

Your love is within me, where evil thoughts could start.
I follow You, with all the love that’s in my heart.
You teach me kindness and forgiveness and sympathy. 
Where evil thoughts could start, Your love is within me. 

You lead me to peace, Yes I will follow you Lord,
You guide me to help others, never needing a reward.
You keep me humble, I know your guidance will not cease.

Even marriage didn't change that, but when we became parents, He had given us this miraculous gift, and my selfish days were over and the only way I could thank Him was to lovingly follow Him. Then all becomes clear, to follow God (or who or whatever is your higher power) You learn to love God as he loves you, and find life is more satisfying, and happier in every way.
