Premium Member Thar Blows Maria: Collaboration With New Additions

Too many hurricanes are causing havoc this season. We might as well have a limerick collaboration about them since they seem to be in the news. Please join in by sending me your limerick in a soup mail or email.

Hurricane Maria is the latest ole windbag
She'll huff and puff till her eye walls sag
She's blowin' in the tropics
Catastrophic among topics
Heed the warning of that hoisted red flag
                                     by: Lin Lane

I’ve heard Maria’s cooking up a storm
Pack your bags and head where it’s warm
She’ll cause such destruction
Which will lead to disruption
These old wind bags, they never conform!

These hurricanes really don’t care
Tossing houses right into the air
They’re a bane in our life
Like an old nagging wife
It's no wonder that folks cus and swear!
                                   by: Jan Allison

Oh Maria I hope you just fizzle out
You're so full of wind with a nagging spout
Hurry and disappear
Blow on out of here
We're tired of that same old raspy shout
                                   by: Tim Smith

Oh Maria, we have had enough
We don't want to see you puff
We don't want to stress
Or clean up your mess!
Just weaken, and stop acting tough!
                                  by: Heidi Sands

Oh bad Maria, you have gotten so volatile
Blow yourself out and make people smile
Or maybe there's a chance
Another name you'll enhance
Hurricane Madness sounds very erstwhile
                                 by: Seren Roberts

Cinder's sits on the toilet in fear
Of the ugly sisters to appear
Irma arrives there first
Maria next to burst
gave cinder's chronic diarrhea

Ins and Outs

This is what life’s all about:
We barrel in and totter out.

Along the way, we smile or pout
And try our best to conquer doubt.

We may be rebels or devout,
Remain unnoticed or have clout,

Yet we survive, in flood or drought,
Our whispers rising to a shout

As we fight in our final bout;
Then, like a candle, fizzle out.

Written: October 1st 2023
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the ocean of silence, I’m stunned
Astonish by its grandeur as I descend.
A comely curtain of conciliatory calm
Elapse the chaos, surreptitious and warm.
In the hushed embrace of the twilight sky,
A silence plummets, ambrosial all nearby.
Astonied hearts stand in solicitous awe.
A comely night implies her ethereal flaw.
Emollient whispers waft into the air.
Surreptitious secrets are shared with care.
Incipient stars start their gentle wafture,
Surreal leaves create a ripple in nature.
Mellifluous melodies mend meteoric might,
Fugacious flimsies that fizzle out of a fight
Gossamer moonbeams cast their diaphanous glow,
Creating an aura of silence, tranquility, and bestow.
Ineffable fairness, fiercely feisty, not frigid,
The break of dawn silenced, as if timid.
Saturnine secrets shrank in secrecy.
Stupendous silence slides, sinewy spree.
Lull launders, looping the limp land,
As warblers start with a duteous band,
Sullen clouds gather, ominous and dark.
Yet awestruck hearts find solace in calm remarks.
Reassuringly, the heavy silence lingers.
Dour faces are glum, yet prudent fingers
Guide the oxymoron of emotions that flow,
Glowering and divine in their quiet glow
In the gloomy hush, discretion gleans hold,
As discerning minds decry peace in the fold,
The prudent ones, with a discreet glance,
Understand the power of silence dance.
Glum faces settle in quiet repose.
Views deepen, and worries dispose
Astounded by stillness, they are in awe.
Of absolute peace that stillness can draw.
Awestricken by the amorphous depth it brings,
They decry solace in the lull that silence sings.
A curtain of calm tumbles, amazed and serene.
As the amorphous depth of quiet is felt and seen.
Inauspicious cruxes balmily soothe fears.
As diaphanous whispers softly, quell tears.
Hinky hearts hearkens a hypothesis behind,
A voice uttered, "Love silence will never hide".
No query or qualm can squeal this bond.
Silence is where my peace is dulcet fond.
In the hushed embrace of the twilight sky,
Silence reigns, and my love will never die.
Premium Member No More Than Odd
Cows cuss under their breath during these winters
Being under a blanket is not warm if made of snow
Fish get expelled from their school playing hooky
Never learning to avoid nibbling on those jiggers
Forests are full of trees with being first issues
Worshiping the sun and boasting with their colors
Fire is always the brightest student in the class
Until water pours over to fizzle out their candle
last burst in night’s sky
stars shimmer and fizzle out. . . .
 fireflies dance on
Wondering In the Woods
Wonder into the woods with ax in hand
Take care to be on time when you arrive
The forest is dark. It slumbers.  Don't be alarmed
Bring an umbrella in case it rains
Rotted fallen lumber is benign.  It does not harm
Never chop the big trees down at dawn
Take a canteen to a source of water
A polluted river will do just fine
With tiny creatures like parasites residing
They won't care.  They need you. They want you there
Cause evocative events to occur
Tell untold stories
Let them evolve like mushrooms in the forest dark
Don't speak.  The trees are listening
Capture ideas then let them go
Over canopies, mysteries and paranoia
Take one step at a time in cadence with the katydid
Noise is the awakening...WARNING: Don't walk with katydids
Crawl under rocks to sleep, to calm your nerves
They have no where else to go.  They fizzle out
Go forward at first light, not in circles though
Straight is better, I guess, when looking for success
Ponder strategies to defeat the foe
It has eleven fingers and no soul
Poison claws and jagged teeth, there to meet you
Storm the monster with your hands and feet
Surprise it with some candy treats
Bite off its ear as a distraction
Run faster for a chance to leave disaster
Estimate your chances for survival
Calculus is great to plot escape
Always use a protractor when confused
To measure the obtuse
Don't make mistakes.  Don't rain.  That's for nature
Don't go insane.  Leave the forest the same way that you came
Sonnet For Sister
O Grunge Princess, I know today your love
brims over, idle, for the rebel boy
like weed you keep, unsmoked, sitting among
your secrets in a box; the smells they cloy
and force you into longing. Come what may,
Space Mermaid, your boy is just a dream.
He's not your happiness, nor is the way
he makes you feel--this illusion may seem
absolute, but first loves often do.
I know I cannot sway you with my words;
just remember: moments fizzle out, but you
will yet remain, just like your box of herbs.
           When you learn to walk alone in power
            your enigmatic buds begin to flower
Premium Member Crickets
Just a word against acrimony
the key is really this, you see
don’t let the bully rule
by reacting to their hideous drool
turn the intentional blind eye
away from their taunting cries
without “attention” they fizzle out
vitriol dries upon the spout
take the “high road”, it can be done
quickly the crickets will come
thus returning to how it was
flavorful soup, just because…
this how it’s supposed to be
kind poems to share between you and me…
…peace out!
Hell Found Me Like the Stars Light Up the Sky
Hell found me like the stars light up the sky
Won't my hellish ways,
Ever die or fizzle out of this faze
No matter how hi I fly
It always ends up in a maze
Hold on tight with both hands
Let go of my hellish ways that seem to
Keep leading me astray
I must try to figure out why
This keeps happening to me
Every time I start to fly so high
I think it because when we live
On the darker side of life
We end up on that evil slide
Just hoping there is a bottom side
All too often we end up fried
Just hoping to get out of this slide
Wishing that we would have looked the other way
Because now I just want to curl up and die
Don't listen to this lie it's just
The devil and his hellish ways
Tell him you won't play his way today
May I stand my ground now that I have found
My lord and savior Jesus Chris
My brother who died on the cross for our sins
So that I can get rid of the hell that found me
Like the stars light up the sky
One not question or ask why
The son of God doesn't lie
Roman Candle
Roman Candle
I lost your respect
Soon I felt like your insect
Dodging your repellant.
And your constant inspection.
Once spoon
Fed the
Nourishing
Golden honey
Of your love
Without notice
Left in the cold
With a mighty shove
And without any money.
How could a love
As hot as a
Sparkling Roman candle
Fizzle out to be
As cold and dead
As a frozen pan handler?
You were my
Manna from heaven
Now you’re my bite
Of bitter unleavened bread.
Most days now I
Walk around
As if I’m dead
Without you
In my bed.
How could such
Loving things be said,
When none of them
Could possibly be kept?
Because of you
I’ve
Wept
     Wept
          And Wept.
Didn’t I at least
Deserve an
Ounce of
Your respect?
Premium Member Other Plans
I have other plans to suit my life.
The time has come when you just have
to stop pretending that you really care.
I care not for your attitude
nor your ever-changing moods
I hate experiencing tempestuous feelings
of unsatisfied hunger:
births of lusty fires that always fizzle out
insatiate and forlorn.
I'd rather have rejection,
experience a strange mystery,
remain speechless while you're around.
Yet like a leech, a parasite of my life,
you stick around, never leaving me alone.
You’re too much part of me.
A familiar dance?
Blessed silence, broken by your silly notions
inducing pregnant pains of frivolous thoughts.
I experience mirthful reflections
of a fragile soul that needed approval of others.
I'll never accept that. Hope fades forever.
Reckless behaviour is definitely called for.
I stand steadfast like a black rock
just off the craggy shore. I'll never see you again.
Goodbye loneliness.
I have other plans to suit my life.
Back Road To Nowhere
He was a traveling man,
never stayed in one place too long
At every bar and tavern he visited,
he loved to play his favorite song
He was a rambling man,
just doing the best he can
After a hot meal, shower and a shave,
he was off hitting the road again
Him and his guitar
traveled many miles together
in his old '72 Mustang car
He knew every back road from here to there
Aah, the women he met
Ooh, the women he loved
They were his favorite fans,
always there to greet him
whenever he rolled into their town
They loved the excitement
he brought to their mundane lives,
they didn't mind passing him around
Of his serious relationship, none did ever last
they would start off with a blast,
then fizzle out, like a rocket out of gas
Still, he knew every back road from here to there
Aah, the women he met
Ooh, the women he loved
Complications sometimes arose from angry husbands
and jealous boyfriends wearing lumberjack gloves
Every now and then,
he might have to make a mad dash
So don't be alarmed
if you see him running across your backyard grass
He's just leaving town real quick
in his trusty old car that still runs real fast
Hitting the back road to nowhere,
taking every dim lit road from here to there
Premium Member Living On the Side
I have lived on the side for so long
A life full of drudgery and misery
A victim of unfortunate birth
To a lowly stock of humanity
And to that soulless contraption of a fatherland
Destined to scrape along
On my daily shamed trajectory
Of the wretched of the earth
Living a good life has always been a mirage
Gleaned from pages of papers and televisions
In the heat of electioneering campaigns
Which fizzle out as elections are won and lost
Why has a creature like me
And  my ghetto siblings created
And Condemned permanently
On the fringes of life if not to
Mock God’s creation?
Why has nature bestowed so much?
But  has failed to bless all equitably
When In Doubt
When in doubt,
Don't brain storm out,
Because  there is a way out,
Don't fizzle out,
But be smart with all your plight,
 The best choice comes in one heart,
Yahweh is d way out,
So be of one mind,
The best comes in great pieces,
Fear is a cage holder,
GOD is the doubt breaker.
I Alone
I have now -
I had then
But that's an old tale of sorrow.
Let's go and have a drink.
My self-esteem has been hurt
and nothing but medicine will fix it.
I alone am to blame.
You, regarding me as a local nuisance,
You just laugh
I just fizzle out.
I don't see the humour.
