Passion burning by firelight

A mystic instigation, of skin against skin
In breathless anticipation, for loving to begin
Outside is the darkness, of a cold winters night
Inside there's a passion, burning by firelight

Sitting in front of the fire, bathed in firelight.
On this cold and windy January night.

Watching the flames as they dance, red, orange and gold.
Feeling the warmth wrap around me, shutting out the cold.

I think of sitting like this so many times in the past.
Thinking the fire, and the moment would last.

That didn't happen, it never could.
But at the time I made myself believe it would.

For the past few years I have sat here alone.
Watching a fire burn merrily here at home.

Sometimes memories come to mind, so clear.
At other times, I keep them from coming too near.

Not wanting to remember times that are long gone,
not wanting to forget, needing them to live on.

     "Firelight"

warm fireplace ablaze glowing radiant delight
as embers twinkle shimmering fires to ignite
young lovers sweet kiss ...
while moonlight peeks 'neath sheer veil of night
till sunlight rays embrace fairest sight
smiling at stolen bliss ...

Reflections In the Firelight

The wood is piled
my emotions riled
Sweet expectations
settle in my soul

Sweat dappled brows
my emotions drowse
sudden conclusions
fill in the hole

of my heart.

The fire started in the pit
warming ourselves
in it's globe
and there we sit
like two lost elves
waiting to disrobe

Take your time,
Love
The perfect man
does exist.

Premium Member Face In Firelight--Briton Riviere

As twilight now comes, we view a fair maiden,
flushed by the fire, in the hush of the room
after spending her day, where the heather was strewn
The stroke of the brush, shows a blush on her cheeks

She's enthralled by the flame, while a red setting sun,
says a farewell to the day, while she sits in her chair
as the light dwindles down

As she sits by the fire, while she waits for her tea
There is smoke in the breeze, and a whippoorwill song
There is dusk on the meadow, and dew on the hill
as the moonlight enhances the old window sill

She sits and reflects, in the warm amber glow
As the evening is fading, and the fire burns low
With Tabby, her cat, her one faithful friend,
Who sits in her lap, and purrs soft and slow

She will muse for awhile, dream of a far distant lands
She will dream of true love, as the brush strokes will blend
She will imagine her mate in the red fire's flame
while the stroke of the artist, will take us along

Transported by art, transported in rhyme
We are swooned by the paint, and the thoughts that have bloomed
that capture this girl in the room.

Flickering Firelight

Entranced, I stared at the fire's rhythmic flicker
My eyes transfixed on the glowing golden flame
The pungent scent of night jasmine grew thicker
Entranced, I stared at the fire's rhythmic flicker
Our romantic whispers became words of bicker
Nothing between us would ever be the same
Entranced, I stared at the fire's rhythmic flicker
My eyes transfixed on the glowing golden flame

The pungent scent of night jasmine grew thicker
Entranced, I stared at the fire's rhythmic flicker
Our romantic whispers became words of bicker
Nothing between us would ever be the same
My eyes transfixed on the glowing golden flame
Envisioning the love we could never reclaim

Premium Member The Dancing Firelight

The flickering, dreamy firelight, does a sultry dance,
Upon the walls of cozy evening, at autumn's arrival.
The fading sun left its memory, the crackling flames;
And bluebird sings sunshine in lush, scented tropics.
The shadows are in rhythm, with the whirling snow,
On the edge of chill November, flying by my window.
In the joy of swift, vivid seasons, blooms are coming,
For when nature's not singing, it's sweetly humming.

Faeries, Forests and Firelight

The coming of the night

Soft glow of gossomer wings

Dark shades of green

Of Faeries, forest and firelight

The dance at the end of twilight

Amongst the trees

Of Faerie song

Of forest and firelight

Golden flashes in the night

Of blue

Green and red

Amongst the trees

Of Faeries, forest and firelight

Faeries delight

Of embers

Soft and red

As they danced

In forest and firelight

Glitter bright

Amongst the trees

Of moonbeams

Silver star fire

Of Faeries and firelight

Whispering trees looked upon

In shades of green

Faeries ‘ dance

In firelight

Of magical things seen

Magical colours shone

The coming of the dawn

Pink promise

Soft embers and firelight

Faded away

Faeries flew

and began another day

Firelight Glinted Off the Dark Metal

The glass of those large blue eyes cooled the spirit
The morning light streamed through stained glass
Windows streamed golden rays glittered with dust
She coccooned like a precious jewel in a casket
Eloquent flute love songs leaking from the woods
Enchanting hedge of mist Sweet smoke of bonfires
Feasting dancing God and Godess sacrifice of love
Hair in braids picking blueberries playing in woods
Moss-covered trees roots sunk deep in the earth
Wind through leaves whispered of ancient mysteries
The solemn towering circle of huge standing stones
Midsummer jewelled cup of life and harvest cheer
Spearshaft carved with runes Hoofbeats on stone
The setting sun imbued his skin with a red coral hue

Firelight warm and welcoming
thick fur rug spread before it
candle lights flickering softy
red wine in tall fluted glasses

Rested on the mantle reflected
in the mirror in hazy tones
casting a soothing atmosphere
with an air of expectancy

The hopes of people now long gone
linger adding a peaceful note
inviting lovers to come in
to dally a few hours away

Step inside relax with some wine
let your mind go off where it will
set yourself free let love take flight
embrace love with an open heart

Mystic dancer in the firelight,
spinning, swirling as her soul takes flight,
chasing spirits on an astral plane
and catching them to call by name.

Perspiration beads on her skin,
arms spread like wings of her peregrine,
bracelets jingle and scatter light
and she dances late into the night.

Drummers beat out a strong tattoo,
her tempo quickens, her heartbeat too,
as visions spiral around her head
conjuring spirits of dancing dead.

She slips the veil without a glance,
and shadow-selves begin their dance.
Her falcons carve the moonlit air—
and now she's flying, wild and bare.

The fire sends embers up like stars,
she soars past Mercury and Mars,
hearing old songs in tongues once known,
and bringing back silence, but not alone.

She settles to Earth in the deepening night
as the fire burns low, no longer bright.
A blink, a smile, and her trance subsides
as prophecies in her eyes abide.

Love By Firelight

You made your mark in my soul
  So soft…so subtle…
Yet so indelible, so mesmerizing
  When your lips touch mine...
I soar on wings of love for you

As we lay by the firelight
I give you my heart for safe keeping
For you are the sustenance
That keeps me yearning, keeps me burning
Your energy meshes so well with my heart, my soul

The electricity that flows between us
  The warmth of your touch
The smell of your skin
Your sweet breath on my neck
I’m sent to Paradise floating on a cloud

When we walk hand in hand
I know you are with me…
With me in body, mind, spirit and soul
What a glorious day when our souls entwined

The tides in the ocean may come and go
                But we…
                         Will always be one

Faded Firelight

I sit in silence, deep in thought
By the light of a dying ember

The mind forgets, but the heart does not
Imaginations dreamlike splendour.

I sit and dream of an old desire
I think of faces and remember names

They all come back when new things tire
As I sit by the fading fire flames.

Night time thoughts have slipped away
And joy always seems to end

The dawning of a new day
Another day in which I contend.

Firelight

Everything follows relativity
Good to evil, chaos to symmetry

Thus we must go up and down
Riding cycles round and round
No lines of tangent; we lounge in our lair
Sin's too rampant and we couldn't care

The brightest flames grow quickest yet we dwell in pilot light
Long gone are the days we raged against that night
Does anyone still desire romance? Can all of us live without fire?
Why not feel its burning presence and build yourself an empire?

We need to break these cycles soon
They crush dreams with each turn
Don't you want to embrace our doom?
Set your flame to make the world burn

All we have to do is ride each other's asses
Remove those rose glasses and address the masses
See the whole world, and wonder what to do
Live each moment powerfully and true

or

Keep resting when you aren't tired
And saying go without engine fired
Forget those moments you felt complete
Keep fearing every small defeat

It's impossible to do alone. I've learned it well
Actions are so hard to do with no one to tell

The next cycle spins and there's far less wins
Costs and losses fed by those spreading sins
I want to wholly change for the better
But without witness, I am no bar-setter
