My summer garden revealed gay pansies with faces,
As the scarlet tanagers flew roundabout singing.
A rapt audience, the flowers beamed in all places,
In the hour that golden butterflies were winging!

I sat myself on the porch swing, already in motion,

Fear trapped in chains;
Slave to lost chimes,
Afraid again.


Toll of sad rays,
Joy bleached to gripe;
Invades this day
With pus most ripe.


Linger with sad,
Loiter thoughts bleak;
Laughter loves mad,
Lines cannot speak.


Heed weary ways,
Mind funny choice;
Touch dreary days,
