Best Ethnicities Poems

Premium Member Who Am I

I am one
nation under God

I am many
ethnicities together in a melting pot
blending to encompass positive traits
     Finding strength in diversity

I am all
about freedom
to escape tyranny
immigrants sought my New World promises

I am few
times startled like a deer in headlights
blindfolded even after 9/11
     but still carrying a torch

I am
Lady Justice and Lady Liberty
the dreams of founding fathers
promises of yesterday and hopes for tomorrow

Poetry Is... Art

Poetry is... Art
       by Amy Swanson

Poetry comes in all

shapes
sizes
colors
surprises
varieties
lengths
flavors
styles

About all kinds of

feelings
thoughts
emotions
moods
people
foods
societies
animals
nature

It can be

long
short
rhyme
prose
haiku
quatrain
free verse
narrative
sonnet
footle
senryu
tanka
epulaeryu
.... and so many more-!

Poetry's authors are

from everywhere
all ethnicities
women
men
girls
boys
young
old
adults
kids
tall
short
thin
heavy
average
brunette
redhead
blonde
raven-haired
white-haired
gray-haired
or even no-haired

Poetry is

abstract
                     or

concrete

playful
                     or

serious

light-hearted

                     or

strongly stated.

It is about

               anything

                             everything

                                               nothing

and in-between.

It is

          word art

                           from the heart.

It can make you

happy
sad
thoughtful
mad
excited
or even goo-goo eyed!

Poetry ... just is.

There is only one thing

        Poetry is not ...

                                                          cookie-cutter
                                      same-old-all-the-time-heard-it-all-before
                                                          cookie-cutter.

Each verse as unique
as the heart that wrote it

Each line as unique
as the soul that felt it.

And so
simply said:

Poetry is... art.

The Spry Metropolis

Tower, buzz and scurry
Oh great resilient city
Ahoy!
Alive. Scramble bustle earth's
 ethnicities
On lurid quests--
A pendulum of tantric turmoil and
Blessed harmony

Quixotic city--brash,
Sangfroid merotomized and
Chrematistic--metro nonpareil.

See a myriad melange of
Tortured splenetic
Souls and great spirits
Noble and soothfast

Great city, your hecatombs
Of underground trains
Roar scream in
Hodge-podge graffiti attire

Fat fuming brattling buses
Grunt their huffpuffs,
And nervous cars scissorcut
Impatiently betwixt tarred and
Cemented streets
August and capacious

Ferruminated grey glass and steel
Towers--Aeeries in obeisance to the
Heavens, erupt in anabasis at the azure
Pearly welkin,
Humming diapasons of marvelous
Melismatic tunes
A gallimaufry of cacaphony and
Sweet sounds--the
Great Metropolis persistently
Thrives.

Streets adorned with sylph fashion
Models, conute churls, street
recrement--dazed and forgotten men,
Enticing shuck and jive
Blandishing street vendors,
Natty brujo business gentry
With their helotry on a
Ferris wheel of daily
Triumphs and defeats and
Cheeky mendicants
Shuffle along allegro vivace
Howling chorus songs amidst a
Torrent of raining dollars and
Coins floating in the skies over
The brazen metropolis.

Snuffling restaurants like hives
Humbuzz the grandiloquence,
Pithy slang and sententious
Persiflage of the day.

A truly syncratic parley
Of passions sentient
Of crimes basilic
Of arts sacerdotal and gratuitous
Of fashions arabesque and outre
Of plays frivolous and profound
Of music sericeous and truculent
Of money pursuits solonic
Of loves ascendant and descentdant
Of rejections mournful and joyous

An e'er persisting cha-cha-cha and
Boogie-woogie of the fierce
Bustling bubbling bold city,
Pendulumming pandaemoniums and
Resolutions, day
Upon pertinatious day.

This planet is such a vast variegated palette.
All ethnicities, cultures, and hues have talent.
A canvas filled with many views and dreams.
So gorgeous, humble souls and, now it seems.

In this kaleidoscope of diversity.
White and black blend into the darkness.
Mixed races provide level-thrived adversity.
There are both rich and poor people in stillness.

We're only those who will render this world whole.
Wise guys roam sidewalks, keen to meet raw souls.
Monks and spiritual seekers searching for peace.
All people love and foster rainbow beliefs.

Our earth, birthing cute beings, is a canvas to foresee.
People of various ethnic groups belong to humanity.
Wealthy life phase, adding warmth and awareness.
Wise, savvy, and humble despite race or fairness.

Because love is what we require to survive.
Bridge family tree gaps, penalized for being alive.
To create a world where vibrant colors combine.
The world is a colorful palette of sparkle and fine.

Premium Member Balloon Heads

Balloon heads float amongst the breeze
Filled with nothing, lack of education- they bawl
Inequality from different ethnicities across the seas

Seventy-two million children unschooled- please
Poverty stricken- we must try to help them all
Balloon heads float amongst the breeze

Over seven-hundred and fifty million adults are illiterate- geez
Girls least likely to receive education- damn that wall
Inequality from different ethnicities across the seas

undeveloped brains- be'eth the sizes of peas
Deprived from knowledge their brains will remain small
Balloon heads float amongst the breeze

The rights to educate we must not seize
If we doth not rise- they will fall
Inequality from different ethnicities across the seas

I pray for them- down on my knees
Let the world hear my beckon call
Balloon heads float amongst the breeze
Inequality from different ethnicities across the seas

Golden Opportunity - Key To Community

GOLDEN OpportUNITY
KEY TO CommUNITY

Unlocks hearts and minds
To the beauty of UNITY

Where hate is dead
Love lives for eternity

And the cloud's silver lining
Beholds a GOLDEN OpportUNITY...

For UNITY.

GOLDEN OpportUNITY...

Where all religions are respected
Intolerance, injustice, soundly rejected

GOLDEN OpportUNITY...

Where all cultures are embraced
Where there's a place at the table for the whole human race

GOLDEN OpportUNITY...

Where all colors of the rainbow...
All ethnicities and creeds have a voice and a say so

GOLDEN OpportUNITY...

We renounce the sex offender
Who divides and conquers by attacking gender

GOLDEN OpportUNITY, KEY TO CommUNITY

Opens up the world
To Peace, Harmony and UNITY

Africa

The land of Baobab and Acacia sassa trees
The proud land of our forefathers.
The home of the fastest animal on earth - Cheetah
The oldest inhabited territory on Earth,
Who handed treasure of wisdom down to us
The most-populous landmass.

The place of origin of humans and the Hominidae clade.
The land of the the most abundant antelope, the impala
The land of sunshine and bird songs
Cut almost equally in two by the Equator

It straddles the equator and encompasses numerous climate areas
Hosts a large diversity of ethnicities, cultures and languages
Africa's has landscapes of many changes.
With beaches, rain forests, islands and dunes,
its climate keeps you guessing all afternoon
Contains an enormous wealth of mineral resource and
largest numbers of megafauna’s species

From her Warthog to her Giraffe,
from her Impala
to her ground, bound Ostrich,
Africa's home to so, much wonder,
that it's hard to leave this land, down under!

America - the Melting Pot of Freedom

(20/06/2011)

Ones might know the value of tolerance
Let’s ask American for their multicultural life
How has it been?
Are they living in a camouflage screen?

Ones might throw their identities
Let’s ask American for their multicultural life
Should we keep our ethnicities unseen?
Or we keep our sanities in between?

Ones might keep their entities
Let’s ask American for their multicultural life
Can they socialize easily?
Or they only do chat briefly?

Ones might blend-in perfectly
Let’s ask American for their multicultural life
Can they act in melting pot fairly?
Or they mind their popularities only?

Nationalism, Russia, Jingoism - Part 999

I
If your national and ethnic loyalties cannot understand other views of YOU, how are u better than Putin & his supporters?

Study ethnoi, ethnicity, nationalism ... And European wars (numerous) even under the Church - plus the CRUSADES, and we are just as right & WRONG as Hitler, Saddam Hussein & Vlad Putin. Yeah! Did Vietnam War reveal ignorance about nationalism, communism, or anti- imperialism? More?

II
America got one thing right: you may have various ethnicities, but there is one Nation. But USA had to fight empires (French, British, Native American) to create this enlightened nationalism under European experience. Sad, the Native Americans had little european-style experience of State violence (militarisation)

III
Indian, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani nationalism shows ANCIENT PEOPLE - ONE CULTURE can crash on the rocks of rather new, modern language and religion. First we divide on religion, then the same faith-peopke divided again. Pakistan and Bangladesh broke up Pakistan (in the 1970s) & went to war on one base called linguistic nationalism (think Belgium!)

IV
Knee-jerk reactions to fellow poets is not a healthy poetry site. Do we promote Jingoism? Another word for ethnocentrism? That's why BLACK LIVES MATTER surfaces with opposing hate back & forth, not much communication

Summary: Nationalism gives off much heat and hate, not much light.

Premium Member Continental Ethnicity Similarity

North American, South American and European,
Asian, African and Australian.
What do the ethnicities of all these continents share in common?
They are all *****sapiens, they are all human.
If we focused on that similarity and not the difference,
perhaps world peace would then truly begin.
Hmm, I wonder if there's an ethnicity known as Antarctican.

Racial Harrassment

The Pre-Civil Rights days are making a comeback,
where "other" ethnicities are under attack,
Asian, Indians, Jews, Hispanics and Blacks,
The daggers are being thrown at backs,

Minorities have come a long way from the
days of degradation and ostracism,
Why would anyone want to revist that era again?

Keeping minorities at bay won't restore the economy,
neither will violence, hate crimes and hostility,

We are all equals in the eyes of God,
having earthly experiences that are good
and bad,

We travel the same stormy seas,
Racial Harrassment only brings contempt
and dis-ease,

In unity peace will be found and maybe resolutions that
will astound.

Muslims

Muslims

One Muslim greeted me in the park yesterday. I said hello; completely unaware.
Another Muslim passed by the other day. I nodded and smiled; completely unaware.
Again a Muslim crossed my path and still; I remained unaware.
Theological stigma seems to elude me; completely unaware.
Wardrobe choices and ethnicities render me colorblind and ignorant. Yet I too am effected by sociology.
Media haunts my directive; completely unaware.
Fear lays deep within me. I am afraid of you—What you may do to me.
Heart broken and mislead by poor leadership; completely aware...
I ignore so many yet I attempt enlightenment.
I am completely unaware.
Muslims do not wear name tags labeling their lineage. I am not a Muslim; only willing to listen.
I believe in the power of the unknown.
A power which I do not seek to fully understand.
A man has a purpose.
 A Muslim does too.
The fact remains that deep within my soul I truly believe in a reason for everything.
This reason, I believe is unreasonable.
And if we spend our days in search of the almighty answer(s) to life; we are bound to question.
You, I and Muslims alike are all...completely unaware.

Heal the World

The world needs a healing from bigotry and bad feelings,
The fear of Nine Eleven in the air, has spread racism
everywhere,
It is not about buildings or religions,
It's about people making ostracizing decisions,
gaining enablers along the way,
affirming it is okay for hate to have a field day,

The world needs a healing
from the caustic feelings
of prejudice towards different
religious groups,
Races and ethnicities,
We need to remember that foreigners
are builders in the countries they inhabit,
We need to be more civilized,
instead of irate and "crabit",
Hate will only make the younger
generation sicker than having
the croup,
It will be every parent's nightmare if they fall
out of the loop,

It all starts at home
with the negative
comments that parents make,
The world needs to be healed
for betterments sake.

Soul Connections

They say that our relationship shouldn't work,
because of our ages, our ethnicities, our different interests.
They can't or won't see our deep soul connection.
They see relationships as if the relationships are no more—
than flash fires.

Before I met you,
I believe the same way.
Oh, boy!
I was wrong about everything.

Everyone need to experience—
our relationship.
Just once;
We both know
that they won't
go deeper into a relationship
more than
skin deep.

Too bad
they won't try
even with themselves.
