Women in my family
Indeed, are rustic-looking and homely
Wake up at four, of-course, with reluctance
Untie the cattle though with inner resistance
Wash each cow and buffalo so impeccably
Remove the dung as though very faithfully
Bake cow-dung-cakes (for fuel) artistically
See to the household drudgery altruistically
Six of them (as ours is a joint family) do not fail
Fight among them, for no reason, and even assail
Pick lice from each other's head, end-of-the-day
Forgetting all false enmities as though act of a play
Cooking, washing, child-rearing, tale-baring,
Sleep, cuddled together, tiredness overpowering...

Seeking Redemption Beyond The Horizon

While my mind ventures to unravel the origins of human enmities
Craves to stumble upon a most sagacious and diplomatic solution,
We journey on even when decency is absent without good reason.
Vestiges of a dream imbedded in pages shred to miniscule pieces.

Where did the promises that we had sworn to and to abide by go?
Were eyes blinded by a debris of perverted lies creating paranoia?
Transgressions orchestrated for their politically motivated agenda,
Enact crimes against humanity inflating an already distended ego.

There is no end in sight only the sanctimonious blather of the vile
Or those egregious behavior of autocrats and anarchists seditious.
We must beg the Spirit of Justice to lead and champion our cause,
Liberating hearts from dank dungeons where love remain in exile.

Time is of the essence to end disparities for polarity still envelops,
Like the devil's claw suppressing every gasp of humanity's breath.
The indistinct laughter, a dire warning, heralds an ominous threat,
No escape route or fence to climb, just a row of hangman's ropes.

Optimism's visions blindfolded, subjugated by menacing shadows,
Yet slivers of ethereal light penetrates impregnable walls of doom.
Opportunity transcends hardship driving back the insidious gloom,
It is within our grasp to ignite joy and douse the flame of sorrows!

The Song of the Nation

We sing the song today withal our pride
For the nation who gave us our life,
Let us forgive for a day all enmities
And solely beclam their souls
Who bled freedom for us to live and peacfully die.

Let us unite today one nation not several states
One religion not casteism, one culture not classism,
Let us worship today one idol not millions we reverenced
One language not parted, one trait not fallacious
For those who bled freedom for us to bask and relish the daylight.

We sing the song today withal our pride
For those who sweated for us to gratify our hunger,
Let us praise for a day with all dignity
And give their life a day to live
For those who ploughed and gave the nation its scenic greenary.

Let us bestow with one individual not one amongst the crowd
One voice not hollers, one vision not apathetic eyes,
Let us preach today for one regime not unbiased politics
One person not any gender, one love not any protagonist
For those who honored our nation with medals and fame.

We sing the song today withal our pride
For those who penned us their creative literally works and arts,
Let us pray a spiritual rebirth with all dedication
And narrate their noble life
For those who treasured our nation with poetries, stories and fine arts.

Let us travel together with one destination and no bar
From Kutch to Churra, from the Himalaya to Nicobar
We are all martyrs, let us be blessed by the holy bathe in the Ganga
And unite the masses with the spirit of the song of our nation
For all those who deserve, let us salute for them hoisting the flag
Our Pride, Our nation, India.

Note: Dedicated to all the Indians. Happy Independence Day. (15th August, 2011)

Guilt Is a Foolish Coward

Wipe that stupid grin off your face,
Grime soaks in your bubbly cheeks
You soak everything in like a filthy sponge –
I would divorce this feeling of guilt
It stinks like manure on the ground…
The stench is too overwhelming
Don’t let me be ensnared by guilt
Be prepare to face your fears…
We’re on this roller-coaster together
We can do this…
This will erase our past enmities in our minds
Time breaks my heart,
Once thumping with excitement
Once flourishing with love, not resentment
You take everything so serious
Like a pissed off clown…
Sc-scaring me out of my wits
Dry your tears of dread…
You’re a coward,
Hanging by a thread
And you’re awkward!
Leave me be…
Let go of your worries and don’t drift away
Let it be…
Don’t you wanna be free?
Just be patient – Tomorrow is almost here…but today,
It will get better don’t fret
I can see it in your eyes that you’re upset
Don’t ever regret
The quarrels that you and I get into
I’m not giving up on you
I’m not through with you
Yet…I feel sorry for you
We both feel like a disgrace
Embrace
Fearless Feelings
Honor, Hope, and Faith
Get rid of guilt,
For it is a foolish coward just like us in some sense
But worse than everyone put together…
Does that make sense or am I being too intense?
We will be two peas in a pod forever
It’s not a temporary relationship
That breaks apart easily…
It’s as stable as a well-built ship

Walls Will Be Broken

9/8/12

There is a wall that no one can break through
It has stood silently for a long time, begrudgingly still
Many have tried to climb over the wall, but somehow they always slip
Many have tried for years only to give up on it
The only enmities able to climb are the tangling vines
They crawl patiently and gently over the weathered wall of woe
Blooming balms of serene patience, becoming one with it
All humanity is blotted from the mysterious path of horrific nature
The wall towers over all, looking down rather impassively
Mature and grainy through rains and severe storm
Never once discouraged in its intense solitude

But someone began drilling into that unbreakable wall
They drilled night after night, day after day
Trying to figure it out, trying to understand WHY
Crackles and crunches, debris falling fast
The wall no longer passive, but perturbed and aghast
Drilling and drilling in monomaniac delight
The hands pushing into the cold and the hot
Holes destroying completion, giving into depletion
Cracks growing bigger, giving view to a river
Flooding, gushing through, pressure giving way
Drowning the driller and all the land of today

Carnivorous vines curl, cutting off circulation
Behold, the breakable—the revelation

Recieving Fortification -Part 2-

I feel the wild nature coming back
To hunt me down
My prayer is rejected…and my heart is infected
With aching affliction…
I can’t bear this burden anymore

I can’t stand the aftertaste of yesterday…the addiction
I need to break this bad habit…
It’s unhealthy and it’s killing me bit by bit
This burn is punching me in the face again
Open up the corridors into my head
And you’ll taste my undesirable dread
Spit it out! Replace it with benevolence…
Not all that miserable nonsense!

Open up your eyes,
So I can show you my cheerfulness
There’s no point in crying…
There’s clearly no point in you sighing…
There’s a chance for you
To drown your unappealing agony…
This discarded doubt…this morbid envy
Reigns over me…
I got to overcome these dark enmities
This insecurity…this horrid melancholy
Conquers me like a cancer

Recieving Fortification -Part 1-

Hey, I concealed my sorrow forever it seems
It’s killing me now…
I’m feeling on edge – I got to escape these dreams
I’m afraid I’ll explode if you don’t show me how
To erase these tears,
Making me taste woe
And all you do is ignore me
Then…you suddenly change for the better

Weakening by the minute…
Strength is gone, I’m losing grip
 But I’m seriously injured
By your absence…it stings like a whip!

Open wide your mouth,
So I can fill it up with positivity
There’s no point in crying…
No point in lying…
There’s a chance for you
To drown your misery…
This uncertainty…this morbid envy
Reigns over me…
I got to overcome these dark enmities
This insecurity…this horrid melancholy
Conquers me like a cancer

Enmities

Time passes and still we try,
try to see what makes them real.
We walk alone and feel as if
the other laugh at hopeless dreams.

Pride is taken, as was chance
and jealousy turns to rage.
And now instead of learning truth,
we destroy what came before.

We feel if sun does give all life,
then why are we to blame?
When we are left with hollow shells,
our intent can then be swayed.

Vision twisting, goals tainted,
another shot down by doubt.
Dark truth has been as though,
a vent we live without.

The Pilgrim's Maskil

Over the distant horizon where unsullied love
Quietly calls in her yet unconsummated calm,
There daft hate has not sown its haughty gall;
There void's vitriols make no sweet airs numb.

In great ecstatic joys do merry lips there rejoice,
And forever sing happy songs themed on hope;
Where lie purest lands spiteful feet never tread,
Past farthest skies where jollities sing full voice.

We've there each saint in finer whitened gowns,
Under bliss-filled wings free from earth's frowns;
Where witch-hunting enmities oppress no more,
Where our mudslinging detractors wage no war.

Sublime carols heavy with unceasing peace
Pipe rest to every battle-battered soul there;
Where brotherhood keeps all on their knees,
Where no tempting sights weak victims dare.

There's a sprawling refuge all green and pure,
In a most pristine state past our highest azure.

Kings Fight, Common Folks Face Full Blight

They sure bear battles but no enmities,
At borders build brotherhood’s bonhomie,
Exchange smiles and burry adversity
That may arise from mutual miseries.
The wars are won by kings and their counties,
Soldiers only fight battles and lay life,
Their families suffer deep abject strife,
And forgotten once settles all the crease.

They that build bridges soon are forgotten,
Conquerors cross over, Ravan to hunt,
Victorious, Ram-Laxman feel triumphant,
And monkeys that made it miss all the fun!
They that know nor yet hate, each other kill,
Those that hate, scarce with scary battles deal.

Sonnet |02.10.2023| war
Poet’s note: ‘Ravan to hunt’, the reference is to Ramayana, an epic poem of some thirty thousand quatrains called shlokas. Today’s world is full of conflicts. Whilst battles rage, who suffers? The common folks, the so-called couth and innocent of the society. This sonnet is born from this anguish.

Recieving Fortification -Part 3-

It’s terrible to be in my shoes
While you live your never-ending nirvana…
Shedding good news
You’ll live to meet your demise…I see your flaw!

This want of freedom is beyond description
I need to hold your hand…this is a hard decision
Lead me to a dazzling land
Don’t be afraid; don’t move a muscle
I understand…I understand…
I cannot provide you with any insight,
But remain prudent
Remain content
For the time being…and lay on someone else’s shoulders
Rely on your intuition…and fulfill your ambition

Hold on to your gift of healing
Without letting go…
Letting go…
Open wide your mouth,
So I can fill it up with positivity
There’s no point in crying…
No point in lying…
There’s a chance for you
To drown your misery…
This uncertainty…this morbid envy
Reigns over me…
I got to overcome these dark enmities
This failure mindset…this horrid melancholy
Grows inside me like a cancer

To Be a Friend of the Words

Let's talk with the words

                   for them to express themselves

                    always sweet...

                    words are works

                    of grace!

                    Let's ask the words

                    May they always be friends...

                    Enmities between us and them,

                   cause unmistakable damage...

                    Let's ask the words

                    that they always drink in

                    good sources, to be born

                    always crystal clear.

                    After being attended to

                    our honors, may we help

                    the words so that

                    keep Them all life

                    towering and,

                    SMART..!

The Perilous Journey Part 1

I’ve watched as the warrior lifted up his sword
I knew…that there was war close at hand – has the Lord
Allowed this event to shape our majestic reputation?
The horses panic…
And gallop in hesitation
It will begin shortly, the adrenalin
Kicking in rapidly
It feeds our strength…
The miracle puts us in good hands
Both sides are at each other’s throats again…
Deliver us…
Deliver us…
Forgive us…
Rescue us…
Hear us out…
As we pray for success for America’s victorious future

Your hope was full, but your cup is half empty
Instead of half full…why are you filled with envy?
You witnessed all the fear spiraling in the atmosphere
Their dignity and pride makes them envy our positivity
The sun scorched
Our serene spirits and forced
Us to carry on now, the dread
Taking away our cheers…
Making us devour our fears
Have no fear though
He is our guide…our shield
We’ll trek His field after we’re healed
From our battle scars,
Shimmering like illuminated stars
Help us fight off those insidious enemies…
Those thieves…those taunting,
Snickering enmities…
Deliver us…
Deliver us…
Forgive us…
Construct us…
Don’t forget about us…
As we pray for triumph and equality to embrace us all
