I'm Not Your Puppet

I’m Not Your Puppet
Don’t you ever forget that I’m not your puppet! I’m not a toy on a string that you can manipulate, so you can walk right back through that gate. You thought you could simply bark out commands, and I would just yield to your demands. But I’m so over you and I hope you can see that I’ve broken those chains and I’m now free. Mr. Manipulator, don’t try to mess with my mind, ‘cause it has a will of its own as I’m sure you’ll soon find. Don’t even try to figure me out, I’m my own person, that’s what this is all about!
You took my love for granted, and got everything you ever wanted. Well, marionette maker, let me tell you what's true, no more dancing to your tune as I've had enough of you! Trust me I’m not even bitter, but it’s all over and you can go cry me a river. You really did me wrong thinking you could string me along; but nothing lasts forever and I've grown super strong. I’m not your puppet, and as I’ve told you before, my name's not Pinocchio, so see yourself to the door. You'd better understand that I'm my own woman, and I will not be controlled by any man!
Inspired by the R&B song, “I’m Your Puppet,” released in December 1966 by James and Bobby Purify, singing duo. 12-26-2014 Contest: Puppets Sponsor: John Lawless Placement: 9th

PROMISING YOUNG MAN

PROMISING YOUNG MAN

Hear the travails of a single mother

Traded her heaven for love

But hopes and dreams short-lived and ran

Now she cries aloud to every woman

Be ware of a promising young man

He promised to move me mountains

He vowed to spring forth like fountains

At my faintest whisper when in need

And called on cupid to strike him stupid

If he is short of a word or letter in his creed

He stands and mopes as though lost in lust

It is vanity to yearn and lust over dust

He calls my left keg wonderful

And the right he christened as powerful

Both together he called beautiful

He said the sun rises in my glittering eyes

That heaven is hid between my very thighs

And will persevere till he finally makes it to heaven

He spoke sweet sounding sermons as time ticked eleven

Words like fetters, held hostage a lass due home for seven

He said my presence did make him shiver

And for my absence, he’ll cry me a river

If only I would be his all in one miss

He’ll treat me to a night of ceaseless kiss

And our ever after will be made of an endless bliss

Little did I know that the name I bore was a loan

Soon I’ll be striped of the same and left to moan alone

From my heaven he’s got saints numbering up to seven

Deserted in this lonely cold night as time ticked eleven

He’s abandoned me and all the saints in search for a new heaven

Fallen heroes 1

                                        Swollen eyes trickle of tears

                                        Swells of pride hence denied

Cry me mo tears shed me mo light

                                               Shots raining out

Nowhere to run nowhere to hide

                                              Ballistically speaking

                                           Blown away by projectiles

                                              Plunged deep within

                                         Multiplying seeds of corruption

                                                 seeds of death

                                              Whom do we trust

whom do we look up to

Guns and roses is the tune

                                           Let the procession begin

                                             All Mourners expected

                                               the bugle sounds

                                                   Time is here

                                                    So stand up

                                              Led the tabernacle in

Fallen heroes the finale

Cry me a river cry me a river

The change has arrived

Where are all the heroes

Heroes like jolting Joe D

Hit the ball to outer space

Running from first to Homeplate

Kids cheering kids jumping

Popcorn all over the place

Heroes like Willie the say hey kid

Billy ball billy ball The M an M boys

Sultans of swing sultan of swat

How phat oye Mira.. Hey look

How bout that Clemente

Shoot them down from right to home

Yonder Pittsburgh way

More fallen heroes like Malcolm X

The black Knight an honest man

The heart of of a lion mind of the times

Heroes like che, Kennedy, King

Munoz Marin mi gente con Dios

My people with God

I have a dream I have a dream

There was no in between those mountain of men

Women and song

only fertile valleys rivers of plenty

Millions marching converging on to DC

Listening to those great orators

speakers of the house

Talking at the side of their mouth's

Some getting pasted with tomatoes

Some carrying signs America love it or leave it

Gripes or rights you can call it either way

In God we trust I trust no one

oh no Mr. Bill Mr. bill duty calls

I mean booty calls rump shakers

call it what you will

Keep passing those bills but I've had my fill

Lost face lost my faith

All the backstabbing taking place

Down the Yellow Brick Rd ,East Coast West Coast

Worldwide too

So many avenues damn no where to go

Searching for the Almighty buck

All I'm getting is downright f**ked

You see the more you make the more you want

And the more you spend

Welcome to the chain gang

A vicious cycle on a long and winding road

Leading nowhere let me pray to us all

and say I decree I declare

And stare at those fat cats with fat wallets

Fat titles altered Egos Angels with dirty faces

Profiting off the poor getting fat off the land

While we live in misery die of malnutrition

And loneliness Just forgotten

In a compu age of gold neon and glitter

A world full of great ideas gone bad

Viewing this vast mirror of humanity

Disemboweled by the jaws of corporate banks

In the betterment of mankind

Whom are we kidding

Mercy Mercy me have mercy on our souls

The reality is there are no heroes

No fallen heroes Angels in disguise here

Only moms who gave birth to us all

Pops who worked hard to put food

On the table and clothes on our backs

Grandpops who took us to those games

to watch those stars and falling stars of the day

How about grandmama who read books to us all

Made us laugh

Held us tight when we cried from pain and hurt

Showed us how to believe in ourselves from within

Showed us that we can do anything

We set our minds and hearts to do

Taught us about faith in God

Faith above all the hell we have to endure in life

you see real heroes

Don't sleep here on this earth

The lord reigns

Riding the winds

Here there and everywhere..

Here there everywhere...

Fallen heroes part two

Cry me a river cry me a river

Pry open a time thorough outlet of crime

Ring me no chimes I don't go to church

Fetch me those keys and set me free

Don't ask where the f**k i've been

I don't care to say, but ask in dismay

Where's our fallen heroes

Heroes of today tomorrow and yesteryear

Back in the day back in those nights 1956

Howdy doody howdy doody to you

Slogan was I like Ike ,Remember Ike

Ike for president Kilroy was here

Now days, yo mom yo pops buy me

Some nikes the air apparent throw in a

Zip gun or glock whichever

A leather no pleather a gold chain

What have you, Sing sing a song

Sing sing mo blues

cry me a river cry me a river

Cry me a river over you

There's a change a

Comin..

a conversation with the weather

oh, mr. sunshine, how you do glow
on sunny days which your rays do sew
and oh, mr. sunshine, how i miss you so
on those gloomy days when you decide to go.

oh, mr. cloud, how you do impede
that mr. sunshine who is kind indeed
and block those shining rays we all need,
big, wet teardrops fall from your own guilty greed.

so cry, mr. cloud, cry your eyes out
cry me a river and wipe out this drought
for once you are done with this maddened bout
mr. sunshine, with golden rays, can again walk about.

oh, mr. sunshine, keep your head high
happiness is abundant when you are nigh
for even mr. cloud, who heaves a sorrow sigh
warms his fluffed limbs in your blue-crystalline sky.

running water

running water will a day ever come when you can slow down and be at peace like the stillness of a lake?
running water for you I pray, you place your thoughts on the tales of shooting stars but in your moments of falling short grey clouds and rain will explain your pain.
pools once footprints , no other feet can splash in my puddles.
through earth and then over stone , two sides to a story but you can also find waterfalls inside of a concrete jungle.
on the surface looking into you all they can see is their own reflection.
running water the deeper I swim the more I am reminded of the flaws I see in my very own complexion.
no one can cry me a river when one body of water can easily drown a human heart.
maybe now I can see the reason in why you run, seeing no growth in familiar surroundings but what about those who journey far?
beyond my comfort zone ill run with you until the day we both evaporate into the wind.
someone with no legs but can run as free as he please.
someone I could see but could never show me the places they've been.

Cliche and Catch Phrase Party

Once in a blue moon I have been told
The cliché’s clan gets together with the Catch Phrase posy

If I have told you once I have told you a thousand times this story or are you the last one to know?

Well, it all started for no rhyme or reason but you could see the writing on the wall.

Rat Race and horsing around would be in charge of the children’s activities for the day.
While crazy as a loon and Wacky Tobacky would take care of the entertainment.
Ice Queen would be the bartender for the night and Wall Flower would play the music.
Requests were already pouring in from the peanut gallery.
Young whipper Snapper like to hear a country song called one step forward and two steps back
And Jonny come lately wanted to hear a rock song called Chip off the old block.
Class clown always wanting to be the center of attention got drunk and started dancing
On the picnic tables.
Simon Says and Mother May I where there to tell everyone what to do and where to sit.
This would be a catered event so One sandwich short of a picnic was hired to feed this Motley crew.
On the menu was Fish out of Water served with two peas in a pod and for dessert The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree Al- a- mode.
Everybody was having a great time until the trouble makers showed up.
One for the road and Three sheets to the wind where known for starting drunken brawls.
The worst thing was they brought their 3 grown sons Hammered, sloshed and pickled.
If I only knew then what I know now left early. She had a feeling there would be trouble.
Penny for your thoughts would be collecting the raffle ticket money and No time like the present would be handing out the prizes.
Liar Liar Pants on fire and Cry me a river were sore losers and always made a scene if they lost.
It will be a cold day in hell didn’t want to go so he sent his wife Heaven to Betsy.
Too much of a good thing got sick and ended up taking the bus# Catch22 home.
Well, nothing lasts forever was the last song of the night and Turn out the lights the party’s over security guard company showed everyone the door.
The end.

The Melody in My Heart

The Melody in My Heart
Written by J. W. M. Earnings
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x6
There is something different in my heart
There is something missing from the start
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x2
The melody in my heart, kept concealed…
Believe or not, I have been healed…
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x2
Trust turns to dust as my heart begins to rust
This heart full of veins and arteries are gonna bust
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x2

Drenched in silence
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x2
Drenched in noise…
Come on and rejoice
You can do it if you put your mind to it
I don’t want to admit it…I don’t fit…
I don’t fit…I don’t fit in…
Where have you been?
Where have you been?
Where have you been?
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x2
Drenched in silence
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x2
Drenched in noise…
Come on and rejoice
You can do it if you put your mind to it
I don’t want to admit it…I don’t fit…
I don’t fit…I don’t fit in…

Trust turns to dust as my heart begins to rust
This heart full of veins and arteries are gonna bust
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x2
Something is in the atmosphere…
Something called Wretched Fear…
Nobody knows me at all…at all…
I guess I will try and try and try to stand tall…
Just answer my call…my melody…an entrancing tale from the heart…
I’m mesmerized by your might
I memorized the Word of God…a glorious, gracious light…

Drenched in silence
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x2
Drenched in noise…
Come on and rejoice
You can do it if you put your mind to it
I don’t want to admit it…I don’t fit…

Where have you been?
Where have you been?

Drenched in noise…
Come on and rejoice
You can do it if you put your mind to it
I don’t want to admit it…I don’t fit…
I don’t fit…I don’t fit in…

Hm, someone is thinking of me…
I can feel it under my skin
Hm, someone out there is willing to be set free
Like me…like me…where have you gone? Don’t flee from my grasp…I gasp…I make wounds in my heart…it’s bleeding with regret, but it’s an emotional piece of ART
It’s bleeding out regret…I’m awfully upset…
Cry me a river and deliver me from bondage…
Cry me a lake and don’t put my life at stake…
Give me a break…for Goodness Sake…

Drenched in silence
Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x2
Drenched in noise…
Come on and rejoice
You can do it if you put your mind to it
I don’t want to admit it…I don’t fit…

I don’t fit…I don’t fit in…
You can do it if you put your mind to it
I don’t want to admit it…I don’t fit…
I don’t fit…I don’t fit in…
I can move on and go forward…
But, darling, wait up! Hold your horses!
Please don’t go backward…
Words, like birds, release…

The ocean below us
Is like the sky…sky…sky…
We’re on the same bus
Don’t pass me by…by…
I wanna fly with the flock today
But, tonight, I won’t be doused in dismay
Doused in dismay
Doused in…di-i-i-ismay…
 Hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm…hm….x6
I didn't mean to do you harm x3,
But you're not my kind

greener, greener, greener still

"The grass is always greener on the other side."
"The sun shines brighter for others and not me."
Boohoo, cry me a river. I have a tiny violin.
You can borrow it when you sing your sob song.
It plays rather well to the tune of, “POOR ME!!!”
Further more the grass isn’t always greener.
For your information my grass is pretty damn green.
They just wont let me walk on it.

Cry me a river

Cry me a river
Build me a bridge
I cannot remember
Which ditch I did dig

I am here in the present
Yet live in the past
It’s all just a blur
Moving so fast

I have lived through the storm
I have fell to my knees
But yet I do not know
The importance of these

Send me a message
Show me the light
Take heed in my warning
I live in the night

Darkness is coming
I am fading from sight
The gate is now closing
Now comes the fright

I am lost and confused
So poor and confused
So beaten and broken
With no end in sight

Cry me a river
Build me a bridge
I cannot remember
Which ditch I did dig

Planes are falling and still no rain falling
Bombs are falling and still no rain falling
Heroes are falling and still no rain falling
Buildings are falling and still no rain falling
Fees are falling and still no rain falling
Business is falling and still no rain in sight
Tears are falling and still no rain in sight
Hatred is falling and still no rain in sight
Panties are falling and babies are born
And still no rain falling
Somebody anybody everybody please
Cry me a river to water my garden
So that babies born today can eat
The rain must fall

Cry me a River

Cry to your mother as she is the only one

That will listen to your tears of how things are run

How can we expect to move on

When we live in the past of how it was done

Get over it my friend before it resorts to guns

Your ignorance of living in the past

Is what is killing your son

How can you expect the next generation to let go

If you hold on, be a bigger man so now show

Stop blaming our ancestors actions on us

If it were up to me I would rewrite history with lust

And have it shift so we can all be free

But this is not a land of cotton candy

We cant eat the houses made from sugar

But I can save the world from your blind hatred towards her

So stop being a bigot when saying "release me"

When you have not released yourself from history

Every race and religion has served their time

To the dictators and rulers of insane prime

We have all died and were punished for a crime

That we did not commit just based on our backround

So again stop spreading more hate based on this

We are all brothers in retrospect when you remove your hiss

For a snake is what you are untl you realize your bliss

I feel sorry for you you blind f$ck, the bus you just missed

Was the one towards freedom but your to busy

Weaving your own dismiss............

Stupid reverse racist bastard, cry me a river.......

Dont raise your child to hate me cause of my ancestors actions

What you are doing is the reverse of the factions

Put it place in this land of free

But I am sure with your bigotry you disagree

Cry me a river.......

Then drown in it.......

CRY ME A RIVER

Cry me a river,

And let the divers wait,

I can’t wait any more, for failing liver,

This might end up with regret,

Cry me a river, rich boy,

And let the poor girl sleep,

Spread wide your mouth for oil,

And force yourself for her dead lip,

Cry me a river,

And let death be the winner,

Fighting it will only give you fever,

Asking questions makes you a sinner,

Cry me a river, rich boy,

And let go of your entourage,

You bit yourself up; I don’t want to be a foil,

You have to grow up and have courage.

Cry me a river,

And let the undertakers do their work,

Say farewell and shake this off your shoulder,

Shriek; until you see it’s not your fault.

autumn falling

cry me a river
give me an indian giver, maybe i can fix him
think of the thought, the store you bought could feed a thousand towns
with the food you leave lying around. you could do art in the world,
marry a pretty girl to the turn of food she do marry, even carry in her eyes.
its the prize and the dice is thrown?this much we know,we can keep two,you and
the truth, when you marry it we do.i know of the earth turn and hunger
burning, sure i was fit for command to every man who had a plan.he would look in
my eyes and size me up,but he didnt think of the crux of the theft of dinner and
whats left.its hard in the middle class to be that picture in the mind, when i find
candy bars dancing in my thoughts when i rest.chest full of air and thats what you
get to eat. when we seen this girl on second street,of course i was too tired and
hungry to pursue her,to my hunger peanut butter and jelly will never do her,so i
just willed her to happen and despite the laughing in my mind,i find were still
friends,me and her,but there was no word of sex or even second best,it was
less,just friends.to the end i go,i worked and held a job,kept my room a slob,but it
was prop up and starvation, like the middle class across this nation.it takes em
no time to help,to release us from our hell.then, bask in the glow and let me know
how a ferrarri goes or my favorite group has a Cd on the loose.wait till im fed and
have my own bed then tell me you need me at your show or in iraq, then ill find the
facts do meet.give relief on summer street.

and love is the water
to quench this fire
honey is sweet
but love is much sweeter
the lion is strong
but love is much stronger
I am hungry and only love
can satisfy my hunger
cry me a river
only love takes me higher
this conception is deeper

Baby I love You

Tune: Cry Me A River

When I said I love you
We loved the whole night through
Well, we could not help be happy, Love was just our joy,
I was so happy over you.

And now I'll pledge my love, dear
I will be yours so true
Nothing can separate, nothing,
Love was just our joy
I was sure happy over you.

Fate had something out of sorts for us,
Our love became so fickle, babe.
Remember, I recall all that we declared
Our love had grown so cool, so tepid,
Maybe we needed a break.

And now you seem to love me,
How can I ever be sure?
What proof can you ever give me,
Cry over me, do
'Cause I cried a river over you, over you

How can I believe you love me?

My love for you was true.
Now you prove yours was true too.
For you did pledge eternal love
Prove, prove that is so true.
Truly I pledged mine and yours too.

Truly I pledged mine and yours too.

I cried over you
Now you do too
Cry for me baby
Cry for me so true.

Cry Me A River
By Michael Buble

Now you say you're lonely
You cried the whole night through
Well, you can cry me a river, cry me a river
I cried a river over you

And now you say you're sorry,
For being so untrue
Well, you can cry me a river
Cry me a river,
I cried a river over you.

You drove me nearly out of my head
While you never shed a tear, babe
Remember, I remember all that you said
You told me love was too plebeian
Told me you were through with me

And now you say you love me
Well, just to prove that you do
Why don't you cry me a river
Cry me a river
'Cause I cried a river over you, over you

You say you love me but you lie

Now, you say you love me
Well, just to prove that you do
Come on and cry me a river
Oh cry me a river
I cried a river over you

I cried a river over you

I cried a river
Now you can too
Cry me a river
Cry me a river.

Cry Me A River

All that we've been through, all you've put me through, you can cry me a river.

All the lies you told and broken promises, you can cry me a river.

All the hanging out late, just cry me a river.

I just don't understand why i put up with all of this, i suppose its due to me loving you.

However, as they say, you don't always have to be with the person you love, especially
when they don't love you back.

So as you cry me this river, think about how far i am up the stream.

dont need you around

its been five days i knew it wouldnt last
didnt take long face first crash
time and time and time again
when your eyes are closed its hard to win
on a path to hell so set the pace
your miles ahead
its a losing race
cry me a river, hear the violins play
you made your bed, its time to lay
i dont give a damn about the what ifs and could be's
if it was up to me
i'd cut the chain and set myself free
dont need you around just to bring me down
its like you're high on yourself, you're heads in the clouds
is alone the way you wanna live
you cant take more then you're willing to give

Tell me to love
I'll start loving
Tell me to work
And i'll start
Tell me to weep
And i'll start crying
Tell me to stop writing
And i'll stop breathing

Say cry me a river
I'll give you an ocean
Say give me some love
And i'll give you my heart
Say live life like theres no tomarrow
And i'll give it a shot
Say that i'm a failure
And i'll close the book before its done

Never Let You Go

I have never met a boy like you
You say you never met a girl like me
But yet we'er not together
That makes no sense to me
What do you see in her that I do not possess?
But I don't have you so it must be something she does best

Something so likable you can't let her go
I understand, that's just how I feel about you
You'll never know how much I love you it's just without words
It stands along in the dark trying to find the light but it always get's killed by the fight
Why me? I ask
I just don't know
Have you ever loved me?
Have you?
No?

Tell me the truth don't tell me no lies
My heart has been broken one to many times
But why not make it broke again but this time by you
But it's to late it already has
I'll never be with you
You'll never be with me
Even though these words hurt they are very true indeed
I envy her so much
Your like the cake I can not touch.

Yes, I am along
For you have done it,
You left me bare with a care
I'll always love you but you'll never understand
I leave you with all that I've said
Do not wonder what it means
Just cry me a river and leave!

I wished to be your lover
But you did not wish to love
You gave me presents but they where not for me but, for her
So take them to her and rain on her your love cause I am not worth dreaming of
And even thought this poem is coming to a end
In my heart it has just began
Over and over like a tape recorder you'll always be playing in my heart
But you could not let her go so now it's time to part.

Cry Me A River

You said you'd love me forever.
So why am I standing here
On the sidewalk in front of your empty house
With the rain beating on me
And blending in with my tears?
Because you lied.
Because everything we had together,
All the memories I saved
Were a lie.
So when you finally run back to me,
With a pleading look in your eyes,
Begging me to take you back,
You know what I'm gonna say?
Cry me a river.
And then I'm gonna walk away.
From you.
From us.
From the memories.
