Premium Member Mountain Storm
Cumulonimbus lurking
peering over white-topped peaks
like childhood's hunchbacked monsters
waiting there to pounce

Shadows lick the creviced slopes
as white and green become gray
lights flash behind the drawn shades
of ominous clouds

Darkness pours into valleys
where rows of birches waver
as if nervously laughing
on the river shore

Relentlessly advancing
the storm growls and cracks...

Premium Member Wildflowers

High on remote cliffs,
wildflowers huddle
between
wind scalped boulders,
heads kept down,
their roots weaved
into crevices
where a little soil has been
won from rain wash
and wear. They grow
surrounded by a constant
howl, just above
the clawing fingers
and thrown up fury
of waves.

Deep
in their creviced home,
they snatch only...

The Art of Snow
The Art of Snow

I sit and gaze upon the wintry slope
Inside my aged abode so drab and plain.

Engulfed by white, the blizzard moves along
To lather brilliant bright the creviced roads -
A sparkling path to Heaven on display.

Angelic statues once were...

The Greeter At a Museum
The Greeter at a Museum
I am prepared to perform my mindless task
when they open the doors at ten am
and when the visitors enter I recall
my preamble and it goes like this
Good morning, folks where are you from
sorry no cokes or food...

Premium Member I Am Everything
Make it not secret
I am your loyalist friend or your deadliest enemy.
Sky writers write my name among the clouds.
I am everything.

Nothing you have ever seen
Nothing you HAVE IMAGINED.
And yet I see all thoughts.
I am the remedy for your wretched sickness.

UNDERSTAND I am the...

I keep meetin 'em
don't really understand
why..
eyes always lookin ahead
calm..
slow to rile
yet quick to
lend a hand.

Kiss their mother on the cheek
sayin a last goodbye..
going off to chase their fortune
never knowin' why.

Boys most, not yet men,
practiced at the two step.
farmers some..
worked out on the plain...

Emplaced in the shade of giant fruit trees:
Avocado, guava, orange and mango
Nature, harnessed for fresh cool breeze
From leaves and the wind in an endless tango

The canopy of leaves, thus formed above
By tree-to-tree branch intertwine;
A haven, e'en for the heart broken dove-
Clock-round shade, e'en...

At Peace
7/3/2018
A waxing crescent moon shed a sliver of mystified light on the silhouette of the lonely shadow of a woman.

She sat cross legged on a chunk of hard Earth overlooking a circular abyss of stones.

Different shapes and forms of stones interlocking like puzzle...

Moonstruck

Many moons and seasons ago my five children
inquired where I was heading to on my journey

I replied ‘to the moon’ and to how to get there
‘with a ladder’ to astonished faithful suspense

Turned downsize up and ascending again and
once more over and above I should get...

Silence
Lust
The insatiable fires of sight
Singeing your flesh
Savoring your aching cries
She’ll whisper ecstasy
Succulent and nigh

Love
Pooling in creviced night
Suckled and smeared
Pulsating with every drop
She’s tasted your conviction
Serrated and wrought

Fate
Dried pungent hues
Immutable and imbued
Morning withered with dread
Silence speaks
Your marriage is dead...

To Be White Again
Life at its beginning is white for all
Cleanly and perfect- singular in design
Warm fed and comfortable
But life through the ages tarnishes the white
Sometimes as sudden as a bucket of black paint
Drenched and permeated and you soak for days
You try to get white and clean but
There...

A Meadow's Sanctuary
© 2010 (Jim Sularz)

A morning meadow - tall, red-yellow speckled,
now, humbled low by the wind.

Conifer sundials – mirrored shadows, slowly stretching, dancing, and then diminishing - along blurred edges of a lush, flowing sea.

Feathered, high flying eagles soar, circling small and wide, against a blue,...

Where Echoes Hide
Where Echoes Hide

An echo hides on the other side, of a valley wide and deep,
In the creviced walls of caves, where bats choose to sleep.

An echo hides in water, between the ripples of a skipped rock,
Wave images in motion, vibrating silently from the shock.

An echo...

Ripping My Sanity
Ripping my sanity

Here in the pit of a sanctified cavern
Darkness invades every pore of my soul
Grasping at walls made of stone, cut and jagged
Tearing my flesh as my fingers inscroll
Carving a poem of granite intentions
Phrases of love fall as dust to the...
