wind lifts salty air
scent of the sea fills my hair --
fishing without care

pelican dives fast
shrimp on the hook was my last --
strips the bait I cast

turn with quick motion
see crab stealing sun lotion --
ocean commotion

.

                Oooh
           that crackle

            the ripple

             that stir

          the rustling

           the patter

          O Jehovah
  that wonderful sound

   Your beautiful noise
    Your fantastic gift

            Spring

A Great Commotion

The ambience was changing
At the fading of the light.
I could feel a cool embrace,
The coming of the night.

In the sky, a great commotion
Countless starlings did I see
A swirling murmuration
In perfect symmetry.

Fluid moving patterns
Writ wide across the sky,
Oh, but the joy of it
To watch these starlings fly.

An ever changing tapestry,
It was ballet in the air.
A wonder to behold
I could but stand, and stare.

Commotion At a Bus Stop

I ride the bus to work,
and sometimes I put on a very displeasing look:
I complain with sardonic humor,
" These city buses are never on time! "
The scruffy man beside me sweats and scratches his hair,
" It's so damn hot and lateness is a crime! "

And we both complain about
the bus schedule during rush hour,
" I blame the cops for taking away my Cadillac,
all they found in my car
was an empty bottle of Rum...
they smelled my breath,
and started to laugh;
I didn't drink any..it was my chum! "

A bunch of teens, chatting and cursing,
were listening to his conversation
and derided the reputed drunker
who lived in their neighborhood...and they went on
with their silliness, " You lost your clunker, because
you were drunk and stunk like a pig! "

" Listen, you good-for-nothings punks,
at your age I had respect for older people,
never said an unpleasant word to anyone! "
And venting his rage with frantic hands,
" If I were any younger, I'll zip your filthy mouths
with duck tape...dare me and you'll be so sorry! "
There was a brief silence, but animosity
for those kids was strong but he restrained his thoughts.

Premium Member A Quiet Commotion

You would never know
Just looking at me
Sitting there ...
Alone in a crowd

What's going on
In her head ...

While they whisper

She's shy
She's sad
She's cold

None of that

It's simply this ...
A quiet commotion

From my heart
To my mind
And back again

Swirling, settling
On the words
Swirling, settling
In the ink
Down the pen
Out to meet
With a piece of paper

Is this poetry?

To me, it sings ...

In a beautiful,
A wonderful,
A quiet commotion

Commotion

Evening star risen,
   Commotion in the night blue,
      A murder crisis.

*Though I am sure most people know this, a "murder" is a flock of crows.

Combo Commotion

This is dedicated to all those who enjoy putting together different forms of poetry,
as this is an attempt at both Acrostic and Monorhyme.

I guess I'm getting up in age

L etting myself think that I'm a sage
I n wanting to write poetry by the page
K indred words with meter and gauge
E ach poem a new form on my stage.

T oday I should do better to be in a rage
O r better still, be out earning a wage.

W hilst here I sit in pajamas beige
R inging in my ears does constantly engage
I n keeping with the simple message
T o write words with meter, rhyme, then gauge
E ach to their relationship upon the page.

P oor me, to be at such a stage
O f wrangling with those words I allege
E ach time only to hope to assuage
T hat ego that says I am some gifted sage
Y et know, I am only showing my age.

Commotion

Emotions cause commotion

feelings deeper than the ocean

i’m choking and hoping and praying

and I’m just saying

that I hope I can survive

cause I really love life

but I’ve got a knife

stuck in my back, attack, attack

I put it there myself & I can’t rip it out

my throat is swollen, I can’t shout

it’s hard to breathe, I can’t scream

I can’t dream, I can’t do anything

I’m paralyzed in the heart

And I’m paralyzed in the mind

Sometimes I just wish I could leave this all behind

The Promoted Versus the Demoted

Underrated Basil got a promotion
And it caused a commotion
Among luckless names for demotion
All of them restive and voicing the notion
Of An Elevation fathered by emotion…
They shall for the two wrongs raise a motion
Before the cause of their commotion:
A man you could enrapture with perfumed lotion,
That Bribery be distanced from Promotion
And Barefaced Trickery from Demotion.

Also, wages that should all please
And not a single soul displease.

On the last seat of a school bus
A boy and girl were making a fuss
Driver was alerted
Attention diverted
Hit a pole causing one last thrust

Commotion

My thoughts are confused
My mind tormented
I feel like I’ve been used
By this thing who pretended

I have been put in a maze
To discover and escape
All the time of my days
I’ve been stuck to it like tape

But as I reach the end
I realized I was betrayed
But there is something I cannot comprehend
Why drive me away to this path I conveyed

I shall therefore hide my universe
For now I know what to do
I’ll stay silent, carrying this curse
For ever knowing that love is not true

Commotion

Commotion,
Of Emotions,
Of thoughts so endless,
Created a loud buzz in my mind,
But for people around,
Yet was soundless...

Each one honking,
For a green signal,
Each one looking forward to move ahead,
For an answer, for better,
The moment it got clearance,
In just a few meters it got stuck again.
The other thoughts continue to honk,
Oh, what do I do?
I ponder to choose,
Which one to let go,
Fearing, will this be good or that one,
And then I accept with full faith,
Almighty knows what's best for me,
I must just be conscious,
To not haste in such a phase,
Else an accident is bound to take place,
To land in the right place,
I need to be true, sincere and fair,
Rest He's there to take care!!!

In Motion Or Commotion

In Motion Or Commotion

Thoughts and feelings poems put into motion.
Do settle things down or can create commotion
Wake you up so you can start becoming aware
There are things in life that will need your care
And be sure to include your love and devotion.

After the Commotion

After the commotion and the grave,
All that's left is the quiet.
And to listen but only hear
The strangeness of the night.

When all is gathered up
It seems almost the same.
As love is swept away
And the heart not used again.

CHAOTIC COMMOTION

         All around chaos and squabble.
         Those talkative aggressive capable
to converse, to discuss or contradict,
         ready for controversy or conflict.

But peace-loving chap unwilling to speak
Better to be silent avoiding risk.
Staying static, not moving East-West, North-South
for a fly does never enter a closed mouth.
