Lil Abner
There was never a feature in all the world,
Like "Lil Abner" for chasing the blues,
It takes this romantic comic strip,
To really make the news!
I'm always quite excited when our
"Press" lands against the door,
To see if "Lil Abner",
Is alive and well once more!
Every venture he undertakes,
I trot along too!
For in my imagination,
We find lots of things to do!
Now you may not agree with me
On a comic strip so small,
But "Lil Abner" still remains,
My "favorite" of them all. . .
Dazzled by Superman,
Batman
and the Human Torch
She walked the streets
of the city
and was left behind
by time
She saw the gray urban environment
and believed that
superheroes should spring
up
from behind every door
No Archie here
just a bleak
landscape
until riotous colors
explode - leaving behind a fistfull of memories
The comic book in front page cover.
Glossy for it's wonder.
All interest in it's characters
of glory and their thunder.
A comic book to split apart
in seam for pair of staples.
The paper's pulp been harvested
from several standing Maples.
An ink in print to bolded text
you'd sniff for fresher air.
The meaning of a delicate page
you flip through for it's ware.
A story told to light the senses
in visions from another.
A book so thin it simplifies;
there is no any other.
Before he became plastic man, he was a crook
“Eel” O’Brian was the name he assumed
He was shot by a guard while committing a crime
Some unknown acid entered his wound
A mysterious order of monks, saved O’Brian
And somehow they cured his per penchant for crime
The acid bath enabled him to somehow change his shape
Which he would use to his advantage all the time
He wore dark glasses and a red and yellow suit
The suit was as flexible as he was
He would always catch the bad guys while in the act
And then he would turn over to the fuzz
Plastic Man acquired a sidekick, named Woozy Winks
Woozy had an I.Q. close to zero
He tried so hard to help, but he was in the way
Plastic Man was a comic book hero
Talked with an old friend
about the new "Flash"TV show
and we both realized that
the "Arrow" on TV is supposed
to be "Green Arrow"
He is in his 40's I
think
I am 59 - almost 60 and
still discussing comic books!
The creator of Superman
were Jews
So am I!
Comic books are a form of literature ,friends
Once I created a character named
"Judo King!
You enjoy the bright colors
and brillancy of
fantastic comic books
Kirby, Jusko, Steranko
and the master Stan Lee
After entering the "Age of Super Heros"
You are enlightened
but remember
Archie is still published
(thank G-D for that)
Spawny, Spawny, he’s our man!
Bought the farm without the land,
fury-fueled, he took his stand.
Life had not gone as he planned.
Evil came to him unjust.
Sent to Hell in sudden thrust.
Return to Wanda, he must
become foul Hellspawn or bust.
Right the wrong unfairly dealt,
he sought evil where it dwelt.
Moral rightness is his belt,
doing good is how he felt.
Stopping evil now his quest.
Evil men he does detest.
Justice comes at his behest,
anti-hero full of zest.
Bright comic book fun!
Don't you miss your childhood days?
Women in tight clothes
Used to thrill
to the Fantastic Four, X - Men
Sometimes ever Charlton or Classics illustrated
Dare I mention to my educated friends
that I still read comic books?
or even to anyone
that I enjoy
Archie - with hamburger eating Jughead
the poor and rich girls
Betty and Veronica ?
I advise you to take a
comic book trip
They are not just for children
If it makes you feel better
Consummate Hero
You make the world so vivid
As you spread the night.
If the world can play to the second
You could be President.
In touch with reality, not at all
Sky Kommandant, wilted in the shade.
We stood in puddles bloated
By your heavy glory.
You've built your golden horse
Tyburn high and decadent.
Scarlet Warrior, beware
You may go forth to break your neck.
The world of tomorrow!
We revert to type when you leave
Though you say you never will
Trial by savages, you smile and say
"I am Aurora personified
Your one hero, a superstar
Your Jesus Christ in real life"
It is not impractical thinking
To fully justify myself
By your fantastic failings.
Your Ground Zero rhetoric
To your Puppet Show Empire.
You could be President.
Comic book tripper
where are you coming from
Did the colors delight
you and are you ready
to
put
on
a
cape?
Meant for kids - but otheres delight in them, too
Comic book tripper -
the world needs you
Fractured little comic book
cracked along the spine.
Must and mold exhaust you.
Dullness shows the time.
Turn a page for reading
fuzzy art in blocks.
Squares with tiny bubbles
or just a place to talk.
Staples down the middle.
Two through every fold.
Half the book is over
and several stories told.
Flipped upon your back
where ads take all the space.
Toys for boys and girls
and all the dreams we'll chase.
Fractured little comic book.
Thank you for your grace.
Hellboy met Lady Death The Goddess in hell
Known as Hope, born mortal
Her angelic mother and bloodline Rachell
would help her make an important decision
Her sorcerer father like no other, Matthias,
hated man, wanted all of Lucifer’s control
War, uprising, evil men, tyrants, black magic,
deceit, a rage Lady Death knew well
The leader of The Renegade devils, Hellboy
tortured and exiled for treason, known as the most
beautiful man with an old soul
Since his capture Hellboy is losing his prized
crimson skin color, his horns and tail are shrinking
They need to find a portal! He her superhero, would inspire
Lady Death, the reason she would ally herself with him
She would make a promise of love, one that he'd known in time
The demon she’d conjure known as Brokell,
brought on her corruption and the bargain
The bargain was made at a time far from hell,
that eternal life would hence forth to kill all of mankind
and only be known as The Goddess, Lady Death!
At 54 I've matured - can't you see!
Now at times I read DC.
Got a friend who is a comic book tripper
He loves to read them and talk about them
I grew mostly with Marvel
Seems the movies are making a big splash
Some people regard comic books as a low form of entertainment
While others are willing to pay much dinero for early issues
The Human Torch - an icon
Superman - another icon
I had a colleciton which I sold for $200
Comic book trippers
Where do they go
Until the next issue
When the heroes story
is continued
Where do they travel to
Comic book readers
In Israel - Japan - and the USA
Unite and draw some figures
Comic book trippers
Where are they all coming from?
