A Cheap Watch and a Cake

You sell yourself for money
Hour lunch two coffee breaks
To punch a card at 5pm
For a cheap watch and a cake
You live on autopilot
A zombie for the pay
Make copies, staple papers
Day, after day, after day
You think you're irreplaceable
Never make it without you
But if you dropped dead on the floor
They'd step right over you
And when your time is over
They blow up some balloons
Toast you with some Diet Sprite
Goodbye they're done with you
Tell me was it worth it?
Did it bring you any joy?
Did you trade your soul, your dreams
To be gainfully employed?
Were you ever happy
Or was it lies , just fake
Do you wish your life was more
Than a cheap watch and a cake?

Premium Member The Cost of Words Not Cheap

They say that words are cheap,

                                                  Yet I differ,

                                       Diamonds, Gold, are costly,

                                           Words? Much costlier.

                                     Words of peace and kindness

Can heal a heart of blindness,

                                         For souls that somehow

                                               Could not see,

                                      Hearts and souls of others

                                         Throughout Humanity.

                                      Humble words, soft spoken,

                                     Which made the hearer sigh,

Words like keys to human hearts,

                                      To hear the orphan's cry.

Words can also break a heart,

But worse, can break a soul,

The cost of this weighs heavy

For those who pay that toll.

                                      Words more costly than

                                         Diamonds adorning

                                          A queen's throat,

                                 Or devastation's rampant, of

                                    A tyrant's words of gloat.

                                 Words spoken in harshness,

                                   Can break a child's heart,

                               But gentle word's of friendship

Help that child heal in part.

They say that words are cheap,

                                         I totally differ,

                                Diamonds, Gold, are costly,

                                             But...

                                  Words much Costlier.

Cheap Trick Turnabout

I want you to want me
.....you only want me when you get to decide

I need you to need me
.....you are independent and don't need anyone by your side

I love you to love me
.....you love me one day and not the next

I'm begging you to beg me
.....the concept of begging leaves you perplexed

                     **************************

You now want me
..... I found someone new who wants to be with me all the time

You now need me
.....my needs are now fully met, I'm now blissfully sublime

You now love me
.....I found someone that loves me truly every day

You now beg me
.....a little too late is all I have to sadly say

Cheap Click

Surfing through social media
it's a wave coming atcha in speedia,
forward motion becoming a blur
clickity clack there is no cure
scrolling fast, getting motion sick,
oh look another cute cat pic
it's a cheap click, a blue like
thumbs up like hitch hike
blazing fast again on the highway,
there's some ads flying our way,
like billboards on the roadside,
x them away, they don't hide,
now it's a bumpy ride,
what is up with that chic, no pride,
blindsided by that news story,
click on the link and it's gory,
not what the story was suppose to be
another cheap click got to me.
smiles turn to frowns then laughter
the two cents everyone is after
every emotion in a powerful punch
let's check on that link after lunch
like pacman chomping the bits
youtube video has how many hits
does that make its content true
this looks like something I could do
cooking up a steak on truck hood,
yum yum that meat looks good
seeing a clip from mythbusters busted
guess not ...I got husted,
didnt' work, ain't going to,... why post
a cheap click from an eager host
can't tell truth from fictionary
dang, this internet world is scary
anyone can make up anything you see,
just look at my post, half the words arent in the dictionary
but that is alright cause it's online,
heck ya ain't even know if these words are mine
but i got ya now with a cheap click
keep on clicking cause something will stick

Ugly and Cheap

i may just have an ugly face.
i also maybe cheap
but i have made many "a man race"
as beauty is only skin deep.

i may not be as pretty as a picture
but i have often made a choice
and i may not be any richer
but there is love in my voice.

i may not have lovely clothes
but i can make love to you
and i may not be beautiful as a rose
but i know when love is true.

i may not have a beautiful body
but it is still kept on view
and i may not be small and often in the nuddy
but my affections are on cue

so if you rate your love on looks alone
i think I'll just leave and tarry
because you heart is colder than stone
your the type for me not to marry.

Premium Member Cheap Perfume

Cheap Perfume

Reflecting on his memories of a life in cheap hotels.
Remembering lies both heard and told and remembering all the smells.
Cheap cigars and cigarettes still linger in the room.
Still each night he recalls a hookers cheap perfume.

He thinks about the night they met and the love they couldn't make.
How she left in the morning without the pay she couldn't take.
Between them for that moment there was only truths she told him.
Unlike many other men he asked her just to hold him.

It was odd to say the least, there were tears that they both cried.
He wonders now how life would be if only they had lied.
Still living in that same hotel where he was the night he met her.
Something deep inside his soul won't let his heart forget her.

That connection once they shared in a dark and dreary room.
When a hooker saved his life wearing cheap perfume.
Something tells him she is gone and that she's not returning.
But that don't stop the thinking or the longing or the yearning.

On the dresser lies a newspaper dated eighteen months before.
Someone found the body of someone they called a whore.
The day he read the story something in him changed.
Life became more empty as he watched life rearranged.

He gave up the cheap cigars now he drinks whiskey in his water.
As he thinks about the hooker and how she's somebody's daughter.
She told him that she had two kids as she cried through her forced smile.
The state had taken them away she hadn't seen them in a while.

Left standing at the alter with twin heart beats inside her
She had come so far from when her own father had denied her.
Unwanted by mankind she said and cursed by God above.
The night she held a stranger was the last drop of her love.

One night she saved a strangers life though to most it goes unknown.
Next morning when she left him she went out and took her own.
He can't bear to think about it as he sits here in his room.
That he'll never see her anymore or smell her cheap perfume.

Cheap Sexual Me

She only came to me when she wanted wine
Meeting at a bar could do that, tainting each meeting
I always had a bottle of her favorite wine ready
She was rich, married and miserable
But beautiful.

She had a key to my apartment
Never knocked just walks in with pain
Holding a cigarette to her mouth
Calling my darling, followed by Hi
She smelt of roses, and gun powder
What a woman.

Sip and sip and we talk and talked
Pain caress her tongue linked to hate
Hate towards him, the husband
After she stained the wine glass
With red lips, she would break them

Throwing them across the room
Loving the noise of glass breaking
We made love when they broke
Then she always leaves with little words
But leaving 200 dollars on the table.

Premium Member Cheap, on Our Dime

Every year when taxes are due, I pay mine to the full,
Even though some other people call it a bunch of bull.

Some don't pay their taxes for there is an aberration.
As time goes by they holler, "Statute of Limitation".

They live in a life of luxury, these entitled few,
Expecting us to pay their way, since that is what we do.

The Statute of Limitation gives them a lucky break.
Never feeling that they owe, they just take, and take, and take.

And though the law may state, 'This tax is no longer in play',
An honest person loves this Land, and pays it anyway.

  (And this applies to Everyone)

Premium Member A Cheap Pleonasm: Make America Great Again

America has been GREAT, great for the last two centuries.
All right, America has been the greatest among all countries,
For a long time. MAGA is a cheap pleonasm, which just
Won the most contentious election in American history.
The problem, as widely reported, Trump is corrupt, unjust,
Sexist, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, vociferous, and nasty.
This is the first time that we have such a hyperactive loose cannon,
Who is despised by his own political party. He is an orchestra
Of unusual lyrics and melodies. The man is like an untamed lion.
As a reminder, money, strength and power are not everything.
Humility, wisdom, decency, and common sense, in America,
Are extremely crucial and important, to make the dogs sing.
A president should be a role model, a beacon for children;
A fighter, a problem solver, a savior for the entire electorate;
A leader, a giant not a bully, a diplomat for the world to emulate.
The jury will be deliberating; America does not need to be 'great again';
We need an improved economy, mutual respect, controlling the flow
Of immigration, money, illicit drugs, and put our ducks in a row,
To be a haven for all, regardless of race, color, gender and ethnicity.
America is the greatest, I am not lying; simply ask the Statue of Liberty.

Premium Member Money Isn'T Everything But Talk Is Cheap and It Takes Money To Buy Land-

Community talk is cheap
My brethren money's dirty
My sisters mothers of the Earth
Take none of this for granted
Talk is cheap
Yes it is you can talk your way out of almost anything
Talk is cheap but it takes money to buy land
Lies are cruel
Everybody plays a fool
My profession they live by the Golden rule
When someone is down
Don't leave them on the ground
Do not leave them
Detached and bearing and broken found
Yeah talk is cheap
You want everything this is deep
But my brother takes money to buy land
Their children do not leave them
These are children let us not merely say
that we love each other (always)
Let us show the truth by our actions for you see
If you really really want to help me
Waiting right here let me turn my head
And give you my ear cuz you see my brother
talk is cheap but it takes money to buy land

Hi Soupers, For the tune to this write just copy and paste;

Our Souls are Cheap Today

Our souls are cheap today
Cheaper than yesterday
Business is poor they say
For their sins we must pay

Where did it all go wrong
Sweet turn to sour their song
One day the world is up
Next day we’ve empty cup

Soon the world turns around
Bills going up not down
Frantic to payments meet
Job seeking, worn out feet

The big boys they understand
Fate deals them a great hand
Vast riches it will bring
Hear the new song they sing

And they sing and sing and sing

Arseholes are cheap today
Cheaper than yesterday
They’ll bring profits our way
They work for much less PAY
Hip hip, hip hip, HOORAY
