Best Cataract Poems
I was apprehensive.
I guess a little scared;
Though other folks who knew the score,
Had told me how they fared.
The operation's easy.
No worries, it's a breeze.
Don't be afraid, I've been there,
And you'll come through with ease.
I believed them, yes I did,
But it's new ground for me.
I had to go, I knew I did,
So once more I could see.
I asked The Lord to come with me,
To give me the courage I'd need.
So the headaches would stop and I could see,
Together we'd do this deed.
It all went well, I was in and out.
It didn't take long at all.
The haze is gone, it's a bright new world,
There was really no reason to stall.
where did we go wrong-
waterfalls of wistfulness,
hearts frozen in time

Crystals flowing down
Mother of milk excretions
White conceal blended
The whistling winds blow
Stroking tender dancing leaves
The chains of copper oak,
Gently sways in heighten gay
And creates a jovial summer.
My eyes are getting old
But not my feelings
Cataract is forming
And so my inspirations growing
I see life and its styles
I see people and things
Nature and the surroundings
I feel their existence
I am grateful
I see goodness more than evils
I have dreams more than frights
I see poems, art pieces
Philosophy, religions and human nature
I see incidences and disasters
I see, I feel, I experient
I act, I learn
I recall, I remember
I see with feelings and love
I see the visible
And feel the invisible
But
Some people see the invisible
And feel the invisible
I think that's the love of God

cries over her son's folly

The Cataract Operation
By Elton Camp
Old age caught up with me and vision became unclear
Thanks to modern medicine, blindness I needn’t fear
Out comes the clouded old lens and in went the new
It required only minutes and the operation was through
When the eye patch came off, it was then that I smiled
I could see again as clear as when I was a little child
Now my biggest problem is that it is so hard to hear
If only there was a surgeon who could put in a new ear

Niagara Falls
Aboard the Maid of the Mist, drenched from the spray,
Approaching Niagara Falls, I gaze in awe
At this wondrous sight of the renowned cataract,
Cascading fervently over the precipice
And violently crashing down upon the rocks
In a roiling boil is mesmerizing to see.
And behold! Out of the mist a rainbow appears,
Arching a span over the turbulent waters
From where thunderous roars are heard and eddies swirl
As if the heavens opened: “The Rapture is here!”
With angels descending to carry Christians home.
And I am small amongst giants (walking in the world
Defenceless against nature’s challenging forces),
Who will read “Insignificant” etched in my headstone.
Unlike those who think their works will last forever,
I’m like Niagara, trickling into the future.
