Southern Beauty

https://soundcloud.com/kentucky-gal/2014-09-27-09-15-43717a

How sweet is the southern beauty of a country rose blossom today.
Soft scents that float gently on the breeze through trees that sway.

With bare feet I wander country roads through heavenly display.
Across the emerald meadows on hills where butterflies play.

Skirt held high above knees in crystal waters of the creek I wade.
Sun kissed cheeks, rosy red as I lay 'neath the big oak trees shade.

I gaze up into the great cathedral of blue high above me.
In awe as downy white clouds float lazily along for me to see.

Like tiny feathers from heaven cherry blossoms fall to the ground.
Whilst off in the distance I hear the lonesome train whistle sound.

Quietly I watch a family of deer so shy as the tree line they grace.
Whilst the lonesome sound of the whippoorwill puts a smile on my face.

So thankful am I that these brown eyes can see.
This heavenly picture God has painted for me.

The Crofter's Moon

There's a chilly air where it used to shine
There's a misty breeze through the purple vine.

In a fading summer tick-tock sounds
 move backwards marking every hour

Darkness falls down slowly upon each longer night
Stealing beewax gold of sunset's soft -glow light.

Against total eclipse, Foliage silhouettes make their return back
Bringing to his arms a Lunar death ... Her death.

Along empty walks, earthy drops drizzle regret
Regret with every footstep and heavy inward breath

Regret... Drops Thunder... Thunder and death
Death ! Dead ! Gone .. Gone....

Or does She live in his forevermore

Is that her reflection mirroring affection
Is it her hidden face that glistens in the lake

Is that the crescent moon that once showed him the way
A way to feel to feel again what it is like to dance and sway

Sway to lilting music nobody else could hear
to flow adrift in silent pause ,knowing She' s still there.

Knowing she is with him hovering in dreams,
beaming radiant shadows all over his cheeks

Believing She'll get closer without owning his lips
Because their bond was deeper than just a simple kiss.

Sweet Breeze

The sweet breeze through the window
asks nothing as unseen birds call.
It asks nothing of the sun
as it sweeps across yards,
yet it whispers to waking dreams.
My dreams ask,
Did I love too much?
behind my mind’s eye,
visions
and what do they mean
when we give of ourselves
so fully we are spent.
Now I’m alone.
Canadian geese gather
crowding a path along the river
as the day passes,
so consumed with each other
they ignore the mothers
and children who pass.
A ski jet slaps waves,
and the river breathes.
The gaggle whispers among itself,
and nature speaks a language of her own.

Dear mother nature you're supposed
to make the world a good place to be in
Today the sky had hues of orange

Life begins every day when the sun arises
Mixed with the fire's toast
drinking of daylight

Nature's wonderful respect for darkness
A moon shared the sky
And you will never feel disappointed

To be born again off you
with the sun setting
Dipping down golden over mountains
Like a soul lost awaiting to be found

A slim narrow smile pearly shines
Awaiting with anticipation
Night closing in as twilight holds a dream
The master's at work
the divinity of a deity
Whispers of a breeze through fir trees
Rusting branches sway dancing freely
Surely created a deep impression inside me

Life begins every day
when the sun takes center stage
A sharp cutting breath hits home
Diamond cutting thoughts invade
Sailing away into another world

The moon and the stars come out in full force
Sharing a daydream as the night closes in
Your eyes carry the sun peaking through the clouds
Destiny living and breathing the same air
Until bliss becomes your daily drink

Premium Member Prairie Whispers

We hear the prairie whispering
when meadow lark is on the wing
and pipit echoes a refrain.
Sweet solitude is his domain.

The sigh of breeze through blades of wheat;
a distant farm in summer’s heat -
Still life - but for the shifting vane.
Sweet solitude is its domain.

Midst blazing stars of purple hue,
I murmur while caressing you.
The soft wind, moaning, strokes the plain.
Sweet solitude is our domain.

We hear the prairie whispering. . .
Sweet solitude is my domain.

What Does Poetry Mean To You

A r u s t l i n g breeze through my soul when I am left breathless,
a song to be sung in the dark of night when sleep can’t be found-
A way to channel my SORROW when anguish leaves me restless,
and a melodious tune when my heart CAN'T feel life’s sound.

I’ve been up and down and through the wilderness of LOSS,
I’ve fallen in the depths of love with a man I can’t explain-
my verses c a r r y me through my journey no matter the cost,
         heal my heart when I am left m o t i o n l e s s from the pain.

I was once asked what poetry honestly really means to me,
I’d have to say it relieves my LONGING from my wounds to be free.

Death Becomes Art

There, on a sill of contentious decisions
Glass shards sit waiting a wavering hand
Reflective the memories wrapped ‘round the curtains
Lost in a pane that she can’t understand

Chilled calls the breeze through a jagged eviction
Scenting the air neath a ceiling now stained
Dampening dreams behind oven doors gaping
Finding the pilot light has not complained

Ripping out pages of scribbled delusions
Day becomes night in the depths of her mind
Chasing the echoes when no one will answer
Begging each shadow for something to find

Setting a table of rounded persuasions
Watching fluorescents fade fast in her eyes
Turning the knob towards a sorrowed direction
Why is there none who react to her cries

Loneliness peels back the layered condition
Voices of reason have fled to her past
Fearing the worst will come visit tomorrow
Sensing the hour shall now be her last

So many days and the roses need pruning
Nary a movement is noticed inside
Caught in his thoughts that her words had intentions
If only those moments ignored would confide

Desperate ink found in fingertip writings
Penned by the demons left roaming her head
Still haunts the question of fear never listened
Death becomes art in the stanzas unread

Sky Dancing

Looked out my window,
and saw a wondrous sight
Two cardinals in flight,
aerial dancing
Perfect mid-air pirouettes,
spiraling higher and higher
Two winged bodies in motion as one
They reminded me of you and I,
my love,
when we danced on the clouds,
among the stars that night
We fell in love that night,
sky dancing with you was sheer delight
We felt light as a feather,
floating above the trees
Our eyes gazing into each other eyes,
falling in love, rising higher
on a summer breeze through the skies
We danced so close together
until the morning sunrise
Night turning into day,
as we danced the night away
I never wanted to come down that night,
wishing with all my might
we could dance in the air again
Today, I looked out my window,
and saw a beautiful sight ...
two love birds sky dancing
in the sunlight

The Violence of Money

There is never an ending
		to the spending
	a world of paper
and plastic to collect
and horde
	clothes
	and cars
	and homes
	and jewelry
	and fine wine
	and paintings
	stocks and bonds
	vacations
and expectations
entire vocations
	devoted to
disguising the numbers
the Caribbean masquerade
to volumes of recorded
purchases and voices
of invoices
making
	discreet
choices
all
to extend
the accumulation
of dates
and names
places and faces
communications
	and connections
		at breakneck
speed
must fill the need
must fill the need
a shouting browbeating
		broadband
handing over
fistfuls	of cash
to make sure
make certain
	only the best
	the finest
	the rarest
of air is not available

for
the underwater martyrs
the silent box dwellers
the empty bottle collectors
the wheelchair drifters
the SRO limbo sellers
the workers at
		the bottom
	of the
fast
food
chain

and the indigent gamblers
who line the halls
to knock on doors
of government departments
crippled by reckless
and corrupt state
administrations
choking the dwindling
sources
and resources
		that have
	nothing to do
but
count the days
and ways
to disappoint
disarm dismay
dispute the reputations
and applications
held in sweaty palms
eager

to begin living
to end the doubt
to end the not having
the counting of pennies
the slow heroin erosion
the unbroken hollowness
the whiskey-soaked
ravages of vacant histories
better-forgotten memories
of cold emergency rooms

to end being
in a world
apart

a world
of resentment
of fear and hate and anger
of dark empty streets
empty recriminations
empty promises
	made to themselves
	by themselves
harming themselves
		or
arming themselves
to rob to steal
to maim

to take whatever they can
for as long as they can
to approximate
the wonder and magic
	of having what you need
when you need it or want it
to not have to beg
to not have to humiliate
or be humiliated

to not have to watch
    the ease of others
who have a casual
contempt for misfortune
and respect for nothing
but their own wealth
           of deception
to breeze through
tall golden doors
to an unbroken string
of shiny bright todays
and tomorrows

to not have to
     lunge for hope
     and
never grasp it
in all ways
and forever
just out of
reach

Premium Member Gallivanting As the Unicorn's Guest -

Galloping within the nights of her innocence
he raced around the field fire chasing the heat of equine glee,
the horn of his head, a wizard's weapon and a witch's wish
with which a poison may be whimpered and youth enriched with longer laugh,
rose gold gilding on the supernatural spike ribboned with ribs of silver spells,

sensing the magic of her intuitive love the beast of God's bridge halts,
her eyes pretty in patient approach, his alert with admiring admonition,
they tresspass upon each other by exhalation of warm airy awe
whirling from their mouths, measuring the elation of frienship newly carved,
although invited to mount, the Maiden rubs her chin along his velvet nose,
fingers glide through the mane like breeze through willow branches, he huffs from joy,
in a gesture of supplication she kneels to the Unicorn's lead leg, one arm around
and a hand of healing pressed against his ripened chest, be restless and alone no more,
nibbling her ear in acceptence she giggles at the thought of adventure's anxiety,

leaping like an angel possessed with purpose for playful liaisons,
his back forming a saddle of supple security for her healthy frame, they join naturally,
she names him Azyerbel and he rears in rejoice at the grip of her knees,
riding into hinterlands of history unborn, they share courage known only to legends -

Premium Member Colors of Love

We walk, hand in hand, surrounded by green
where breeze through the trees makes color serene.

We stop for a while; you give me a kiss
as sun's mellow yellow radiates bliss.

Resuming our stroll, some flowers we see.
They are the colors of felicity -

A rainbow of hues from bright orange to
rosy and pink, then to purple and blue.

All nature around, those colors of spring,
reflect the sweet love that makes my heart sing.

And beautiful blue is the heaven above -
just one of the many colors of love.

We Are Ghosts In This House

I am a ghost in this house

A shadow of the past shapeless moving around you silently.

Carefully stepping on the stair steps that don't creak.
Sliding along the oak floors.
Wearing invisible clothes that don't crease.

Wondering constantly for your warmth to come back.
Grace me with your presence once more.
To be as we were solid
unbent perfection.

You are a ghost in this house

A breeze through the attic window that shimmers the curtains.
The cold side of the bed.
Wondering awake untill we meet again.

We walk circles round one another
Our hands never touch
Our bodies never meet.

I look for you in everything
Room to room but no luck

You am a ghost in this house

You bound up the stairs loudly but never make a sound.
I turn as I think I see a shadow.
Sitting on our bed with your head in your hands
A crying broken man

We are ghosts in this house

One alive, one dead
Moving around one another
But forever looking

Premium Member Youth

I awakened one morning with dawn's early song,
and found youth, over night, had traveled on...by poet

Youth can seem constant when days are sublime,
rushing through life with the wind in your hair.
Racing with the breeze through meadows and time,
chasing tomorrows with hardly a care.
Forever will last with youth as its heir.

Oh to feel that free spirit just once more,
even when a young heart feels it's broken.
Sunshine and youth always in strong rapport,
softening goodbyes that have been spoken.
Bittersweet love, but memories' token.

Time's stolen moments hide in lilac shade,
appearing briefly in morning's rose cast.
Golden moments that glow and softly fade,
saved to remind of time that could not last,
when youth and its magic slipped into Past.

Premium Member A Little About Faith Healing

As along our long life journey we sail
We all do encounter belied expectations
Feeling of deep hurt results from betrayal
Our shrivelled heart writhing in contractions

The hurt needs healing so we go to a healer
Who examines blotches in our aura field
Looking grave is this wheeler dealer
As his magic wand he does wield

Half who visit healed, the others not
For he simply invokes the placebo effect
Opening up our mind beyond its fearful slots
The faith healer does nothing yet no one suspects

With this comic interlude over with let us examine
The root cause of our pain needing healing
We negate not potency of toxic poison
Simply look at origin of so feeling

The aspect of us hurt is our identity
Plunged into dark gloom owing to its loss
Recognising not that in world of ephemerality
Attachment to fleeting images of pain is the cause

In monk mode detached thus free from pain and sorrow
Lower mind vaporised, we abide in blissful joy
No expectations or desires for the morrow
Mind illumined we recognise ego ploys

Acceptance of others just as they are
Knowing that maya oft causes misalignment
Acts of others be as they may leaves then no scar
We empathise with one and all resting in blissful contentment

We then are our own best faith healer having faith in love divine
Offering no niche within for rancour to anchor onto our being
Knowing that in timeless time with love all souls will align
We nonchalantly breeze through life ever celebrating
