Prairie Whispers Premiere Contest Winner

We hear the prairie whispering when meadow lark is on the wing and pipit echoes a refrain. Sweet solitude is his domain. The sigh of breeze through blades of wheat; a distant farm in summer’s heat - Still life - but for the shifting vane. Sweet solitude is its domain. Midst blazing stars of purple hue, I murmur while caressing you. The soft wind, moaning, strokes the plain. Sweet solitude is our domain. We hear the prairie whispering. . . Sweet solitude is my domain. For Skat's Premiere Contest number 5 Poetry Contest

I love the title, and the gentle words the body of this poem conveys...I love to think of the "prairie whistering"...and the "sigh of breeze"...I live in the country and the sound of a meadowlark and seeing the wheat planted behind my home, all are so familar....I really, really love this work of yours. Thanks, Big

The gentle wave of prairie grass. Sorry! The word I want to rhyme is very crass. This pretty poem makes me reminiss. Of the Jody Husentruit story, who we so dearly miss. You see, I wrote a poem about her, titled Prairie Princess. She was from Long Prairie,MN. She anchored the news in Mason City, IA. I live 50 miles north in MN. I was taking a nap on the couch with channel 3 on. I awoke to them talking about her abduction. I'll post the poem soon. I'm away right now, and it's only on paper. 6 lef
