Non exchangeable
biodegradable
Given time may be changeable
However
Forever
Insatiable

Thrashing out the tempo of life
Misses a beat when presented with strife
Within Private chambers
initials inscribed
Etched with a promise
None but one can revive

Why

I still hear the stray cat clink of your teeth
       smell a rage a brewing
        feel tension build

as we sit silent
frozen porcelain figurines
emotionally hollow
fragile
about to crack
like ice on the drivers side window

front seat getting cold
wipers counting silent pauses
conversation, stalled

making life changing decisions
someones future hanging on words
that will not come out no matter how I try

stuttering explanations about wa wa wa....why?

why I did it
why it happened
what your gonna do about it
how you gonna seek your revenge
when can I expect retribution
how long will it take my flesh to heal
are plaster casts biodegradable?
is there gonna be a police report
are they gonna arrest me for your violence
might they be serving baloney sandwiches
who will post my bond?
will I be to macho to tell Officer Friendly
would he even believe me?

searing into my torso
then memory
a drifting apart
like a parent and child
awaiting the smash
the smash

Terms and Conditions May Apply

We cured death on a Tuesday,
launched the trial on a Thursday,
by Friday, 14% of the test group
was gnawing on the janitorial staff.

Still, the press was kind.
“Remarkable resilience,” they wrote,
as Unit 42A chewed through its restraints,
and tried to bite a cameraman.

We called them SoulSavers™,
engineered for eternal youth,
a proprietary blend of nanites, CRISPR,
and just a dash of hubris.

ReVive™ hit the market with glowing ads:
"Because Forever is a Family Value."
But the legal fine print… oh, the fine print:
May cause mild memory loss, spontaneous moaning, and cannibalistic cravings.

They rose in boardrooms first,
CEOs with perfect teeth
tearing into interns
like gourmet hors d'oeuvres.

By Q3, the infection was global,
but stocks soared--
because someone monetized the mayhem,
packaged brains in biodegradable boxes.

The living now hide in Costco bunkers,
bartering soup for silence,
while ReVive™’s jingle
plays softly from every abandoned screen:

“You can’t spell ‘afterlife’ without 'life'--
Sign here, and live again!”

So yes, we cured death.
We also cured peace.
And now we walk among the ruins,
clawing for comfort,
with half a heart and half a face,
still under warranty.

Author's Note:
This poem is what happens when you read Tom Woody’s contest prompt and accidentally engage the undead half of your brain. It’s a free verse romp through biotech gone wrong, corporate chaos, and a sprinkle of satire. No contest entry--just undead fun.

A Small Step a Massive Change

Filth, dirt, odour and smell
I see garbage piled up everywhere
Who will step forward? Who will care?
Is our work just to stare?
We say we love our country
And we can sacrifice anything for it
But nobody realizes a simple thing
That we harm ourselves with our wrong deeds
‘Do not spit here’
Throwing garbage is prohibited in this area
Who follows these common instructions
All I can say is wake up my fellow Indians
We have to clean our surroundings
Check proper hygiene and sanitation
Just to save ourselves from ordure and odour
And build a beautiful and speckless nation
Have you ever thought
That we ourselves are harming us
By keeping stagnant water we call malaria
We can be easily attacked by harmful bacteria
We have become so self centered
We forget to keep ourselves well-groomed
But we do forget often
That lavatories should be as clean as drawing room
We are taught about 3 Rs’
Always recycle biodegradable waste
Reuse, don’t throw things carelessly
Reduce the waste, never be in a haste
Our small step can bring dynamic changes
We can live happily for ages
Doing a sweeper’s job a day won’t cost much
Until we free ourselves from our ego’s clutch
Our mission will grow day by day and become strong
If we unite, there is no chance of anything wrong
I have started my work and I pray for the welfare of all
I hope you have also heard the nation’s call

The Carnivores Nextdoor

The Carnivores Next Door

rate the worth and pleasure
	of their morning
by the number of shattered lives
	they return home dragging

at times there’s broad smiles
	and load boasting
gathered friends
	who lend to the barbarism
their congenial
	conspiratorial toasting

revelling in the blood and sinews
	of the fallen
avoiding non-biodegradable packing
	and energy absorbing refrigeration
artificial colours
	and chemical preservation

the carnivores next door
	eating their conservation

Paranoia Strikes Deep

I have dug this one out of the poetry attic; composed when a teen, hence the dated references. Fellow Soupers of my age-group (60 in a few weeks- Yikes!) might enjoy it:

Friend, watch out! They're talking.
Have you heard what they're talking about?
They're not talking about revolution
Nor of mystical ablution,
Not of meaningful discussions
Nor of drastic repercussions.
Not of drugs and their results
Nor of wars and satanic cults.
Not of full-blooded,Medal-studded,Octo-Olympians
Nor of the tragedy of fading Ethiopians.
Not of whether the weather will hold out.

Will I tell you what they're talking about?

They're not talking about extinction
Nor about energy diminution.
Not about the bludging bureaucracy
Nor of stifling plutocracy.
Not about student-Left activity
Nor of the signs of cultural declivity.
Not about aspects of phallic domination
Nor of real genuine insemination.
Not about who is sure and who in doubt.

Should I tell you who they're talking about?

They're not talking about Nixonfrancocastroamin
Nor of that handydandy, non-returnable
Devastatingly non-biodegradable container
Their fingerfriedlickinchicken lunch was served in.
Not of astronautical penetrations
Nor of the psycho-sexual implications
Of the demise of Chairman Mao.
Not of matters affecting us right here and now!
Nor of suicide, VD, rape, fraud, famine and disease.
Not of all the things like these
Which make this world the wonderful place that it
Most certainly is (and
All divinely-ordained to wit!)

No! They're talking about subversion,
Of unabashed, unwashed perversion!
In short ( and I hear all this is true)
Those bastards are talking about ME & YOU!

The Utopian Dream Baby

THE UTOPIAN DREAM BABY

She is in darkness and beautiful
What I dream of my Utopian dream baby

In the future I wish to see her born
As a very big mansion of mine on the moon

My own supersonic airplane to Heaven
A long bridge across the continents

To link all the oceans
New York to Banjul, Cape Town to Antarctica

Island of Lampedusa as a World Trade Center
Not as a nest for asylum hunters anymore

Sahara, Kalahari, Gobi, Himalayas as green belts
Not deserts with open arms anymore

All wastes to be biodegradable, renewable, chewable
Every rooftop to be garden

Our carbon dioxide to be inhalable perfumes
This is the worlds wild ambition

My Utopian mystic dream baby
A wish she comes early

To make the world a better home
Where we shall live like human Angels

Worried not of worries
In peace, in glory.

Premium Member 350 Degrees

Concerned Christian environmentalists truthfully believe God created the life forms inside the oceans, lakes and seas. He left mankind a legacy, he was suppose to be responsible for these marine life species. It is of utmost importance people listen to dedicated groups such as 350 Degrees.

Other countries and other municipalities. have either banned or restricted plastic shopping bags. But restriction and banning in the United States is accomplished by mainly municipalities. It is my prayer that the City of Everett joins them. I phoned Olympia's legislative hotline 1-800-562-6000. And left them this message banning those plastic bags city by city takes much too long.

Where did most of our plastic garbage end up? In other nations of the world, and they have had enough! They believe we created it and should be held responsible for its clean up. Those bags are non-biodegradable and are potentially harmful. They are rapidly filling up our over crowed landfills.

Haven't we had enough of turning our oceans, lakes and seas into human plastic garbage dumps? Because of human wanton carelessness, soon this planet will become inhabitable for even us. How many marine sea life must die? How many fish, and clams and other food sources of man, live on plastic?

People are becoming concerned about recycling of plastic. It is only possible if the products recycling labels have numbers one or two. Products can only be recycled once! You do not have to believe me, but you need to listen to 350 Degrees.

Our polluted oceans are rapidly becoming warmer leading to increased hurricanes, floods and tornadoes. Natural and man made disasters are occurring with more frequency and intensities. Covering a wide disaster range, and displacing its victims. Those people are facing their problems by faith in Jesus Christ. Neighbors and churches are helping each other!

Love as always!

I Won'T Alway Be a Bottle.

my life is useful, not a joke,
i'm a plastic bottle,no not just for coke,
everyday i'm important to you,
without me you wouldn't get through.
think, how would you get your squeezy sauce?
or the washing up liquid of course,
cleaners for the oven and the loo,
or the bleach for drains to name a few.
i started life way underground,
oil was drilled for,i was found,
i am a by- product of oil you see,
that makes plastic,you get me.
i have many uses in my plastic state,
boxes, cartons and cling film my mate,
but be careful how you disguard me,
for i'm not biodegradable you see.
but humans are getting cleverer now,
they add bits to my makeup somehow,
that helps us to be eco friendly too,
we can be recycled, and made anew.
i won't always be a bottle,i could be a jar,
or bits you can put into a car,
i've many uses,i'm quite versatile,
in specs for instance, you then see the smile.
my relations are p.v.c. and polythene,
they make bags, wrappers and dustbins supreme,
you should recycle,not just disguard,
then life on the planet wouldn't be hard.
everthing can be used over and over again,
less rubbish,less mess,less acid rain,
so please think before you cause pollution,
the ways,recycle,thats the solution

Refuse Refugee

Out they go, rejected plastic
bags and bottles. Off they float,
dispersed. Where to?
  There's no control.
Wind and ocean current swirling,
gathering all those broken
fragments. Human flotsam drawn
together, trafficked at what cost,
deflatable, adrift. Ashore,
  caste unwanted.
Are they biodegradable?
What of their diversity?
Can they be reused? Restored?
Evidence of waste upcycled,
more than plastic identity,
  or plastic credit.
The refuse refugee - is.

Note To a Friend

Today I found you worm
Diabolic
In an old book's page
Vitriolic
In mnemonic rage
I squirmed frantic
For my chewed up words.
I thought I was breeding butterflies
Not a strange infestation.

Soft ugly stage
Before the swatter and swatting
Multiplied to wage
An internecine gossiping
About nothing you know
Nor who I am
That saw you pulsated and glow
With innards on fire
And just too much ashes for desire.

A worm in a book
Does not an academic make
It was the experience
That I foraged for credentials
Hoping to turn them
Into Sunday evening conversation
But the words I kept for that
You have chewed them up.

Being environmentally friendly
Do not assume
I sanction molestation
The story
Is infested with strange
Venom
Biodegradable
For when the corpse is done
Die the maggot as the flie
Die the termentation.

This My Hand Will Rather the Multitudinous Seas Incarnadine

After the summer sun, once the waves have had more than they can swallow,
a melancholic mood looms large, wherein the floundering victims wallow.

The sudden descent into silence hits harder than the outburst of noise before -
because the volume alteration is accompanied by a message we choose to ignore.

Empty crisp packets blow aimlessly across the void of vacuous beaches,
this incisive message resounds repeatedly, but is lost on the audience it teaches.

Strewn across the fields,
is produce of the summer’s yield:
broken buckets and spades lie dishevelled, dreaming of the sandcastles they used to build.

The owner of the café passé on the pier
returns to her farm for the rest of the year:
hindered by the accumulation of summer commerce: the litter she has to clear.

The greasy burger wrappers
serve as an embodiment of what matters:
the ignorance and carelessness of a hedonistic society, that leaves our world in tatters.

The non-biodegradable remains of tourism and consumerism mask the countryside’s face:
assorted towers of summer’s rejects distort its authentically elegant landscape.

The litter is unavoidable, profit takes precedence for those in need,
so we slowly tarnish our world as a consequence of greed.

A murderer in the dock, society tries to conceal the facts:
our fast and furious lifestyle will prevent the earth remaining intact.

The Bane of Restless Leg Syndrome Kicks Back

Minus adverse side effects
courtesy Ropinirole HCL
couple nights I did try,
albeit yours truly wanted to die,
plus also yearned tubby
among grrrrrreat full dead, no lie,

yes absent asthenia, fatigue,
and/or malaise oh my
nausea, vomiting, somnolence, dizziness,
and asthenic condition,
I woefully did decry
unconsciously kicking,

thrashing, twitching, wife kvetching
downing aforementioned medication
found me awry
beseeching psalm body
e'en the Sultan of Brunei
or sovereign from Abu Dhabi

to administer euthanasia,
I would willingly rectify
to bid good riddance and goodbye
experiencing said unpleasant reactions
listed above, hence death wish
of mine to comply

expressed modus operandi doth underlie
trawling the net whereby, to crucify
rigging (leg giddy met) i.e. legitimate
gofundme site could justify
assisted suicide recycling, reimbursing
repurposing... biodegradable cross -

guaranteeing faithful ethics to fortify
upon me rising masses will deify
an imperfectly square profane guy
skeptic at heart, unsure soul will go skyhigh,
or descend into Dante's inferno,
hmm... methinks hot meal my

olfactory organ doth nasally espy
summat good cooking, therefore aye
got hearty appetite unbearable symptoms
amazingly relieved, that scare did mortify,
now get secular humanist off doggone †
lest he gets cross and promises to nullify

future aery missions...
sidelining death, viz abort... fail... retry
else fans ye will need to pacify,
and posthumous rock star status
martyr on your stained hands
leaving widow whose syrup prize

zing tears unceasingly cry
without spouse to henpeck,
she cannot deny
cuz, body (mine), saintly
nicked peep pulled, tattooed
with apostolic marks
sharp nib she did apply.

Premium Member It Happens Over There

It happens over there,
a suburb, a state or half a world
or more away from where I live
in a quiet street with roses and hedges
hanging over front fences
with newly planted trees spaced
along a footpath the council truck
waters once a week.

For anything to get past
and make it to here must be filtered,
sanitised and packed in biodegradable
pouches and come with conditions
clearly stated in print bold enough
to see at arms length and most
important of all, have an off switch
that can be activated by an app
on a phone or a remote control.

What's more, it must be kept short
not taking too much time for it to clash
with commitments I previously made
over a coffee at the gym or make
me feel bad by its content or tax
my nerves by taking me to a place
which I have no desire to go.

So, I would be pleased if you kept it
over there, housed within the confines
of a television screen and sandwiched
between ads and promos for the latest
"Reality" show. And to keep
my conscience pristine, provide
an address I can send
a small donation to on my credit card
with a receipt so I can claim
the expense on my next
income tax return. Thank you.

Virtual Breadcrumbs

For those of us
who'd believe
that the things we
post online
are as digitally
biodegradable
as the breadcrumbs
left by Hansel and Gretel

Someday,
we may be in for
a Grimm surprise
