Whispering Colors

~

A soft yellow ember,
the sun is arising
Horizons remember
the smile on your face

Meadowlarks sing
as the morning approaches
The start of a new day
in hues to embrace

Rose petal heavens
with clouds painted cotton
Skies now are yawning
a sapphire glow

Apricot kisses
on dahlias blooming
With northerly breezes
of autumn a ‘flow

Tangerine ribbons
through branches still sleeping
Like stained glass illusions
in robin’s egg blue

Dawn has arrived
in kaleidoscope splendor
It’s colors now whisper
good morning to you

Autumn, a Painting of An Artist

Confusing thoughts in Fall, me ceased to stalk
worries into the heart, floated and stepped aside
wonders from afar spreading their smiles in a flock
along with October breeze, pleased to go for a hike.

Worries into the heart, floated and stepped aside
Autumn, enthroned in the soul empire, would set its fire
along with October breeze, pleased to go for a hike
walking paths trodden by shades of foliage, nothing dire.

Autumn, enthroned in the soul empire, would set its fire
a painting of no formal learning, that's Nature the Artist!
walking paths trodden by shades of foliage, nothing dire
a soothing harmony awakening the muse of a harpist.

A painting of no formal learning, that's Nature the Artist!
wonders from afar spreading their smiles in a flock
a soothing harmony awakening the muse of a harpist
confusing thoughts in Fall, me ceased to stalk.

A great pleasure to write this poem after reading Vijay Pandit "Autumnal Flame"..

Premium Member Autumn In Florida

I shall return to Florida
In late autumn, a driving trip
When blooms have lost their stamina,
And I shall need to get a grip.
Surely before the first cold spell
Settles in, ere the first snowfall
I shall find a small place to dwell
Near the seashore where I can scrawl
Short verses on sandy beaches,
Where children collect fresh seashells
And play well above the reaches
Of the tide, I love ocean smells.
A watch on the skies I will keep
Lest a storm strikes while I'm asleep.

Breathtaking bird song,to attract a spouse ... is done
Evoke memories of autumn, a cool breeze touches me tenderly
August sun is sloping, through the falling air
Unique and miraculous, the young swans have learned to fly
Their kiss from the horizon, as waving from the clouds
Yesterday's memories of joy and some tears - au revoir

I catch a glimpse of you in summer deep
Your auburn tresses floating through the trees
Where at the sight of you a willow weeps
And throws her golden leaves upon the breeze
As you almost bring me to my knees
Your beauty filling me with such desire
As I turn my back on summer as she leaves

Spellbound! As you set the world on fire

I watch you wake the maples from their sleep
Burning cleaving leaves, I watch them bleed
As slowly and quietly you creep
Over meadows and fields of grazing sheep
Leaving your silhouette on the creek
As your flames grow higher and higher
As I follow, not knowing where you lead

Spellbound! As you set the world on fire

I walk through ashes falling at my feet
On a path beneath a golden canopy
And look out at where earth and heaven meet
As you blaze a trail in front of me
Onward through marshlands cattails and reeds
I see your breath rising from the muck and mire
In a rainbow of liquid crystal beads

Spellbound! As you set the world on fire

 Lost between desire and melancholy
I rest a spell, my body grown tired
And lay myself upon the dying leaves

Spellbound! As you set the world on fire

From Times Square

Dazzling lights
Throngs of people
Walking through crowded streets
Reminds us of why we live here
Costumed performers - Bright theatre marquees
Seeing those sights brings happiness
   to native and tourist alike
Autumn - a chill in the air
  Undaunted, the bustling crowds
head for dinner and a show
No place quite like it anywhere
The masses of people
   are taking their full measure
of urban joy
Double decker buses move down the avenue
as newcomers to the Big Apple get their firs bite of it
Even those who have lived here
   their entire lives
Still feel exhilarated as they pass Times Square
Electricity lights up the metropolitan scene
The city is working its magic
Untold thousands on the avenue
Eyes meet - a feeling of urban love
works its way into the hearts
 of the masses gathered there
   The city

Premium Member Ancient Winter

The old man, who slowly walks with the cane
Many years ago, he looked just as you do
He was handsome, virile and tall
Living then so easy, no matter the weather
Today, his bones curve; and once steady gait, slowed
He recalls that each season came bearing gifts
Spring, brought youth and delightful promises
Summer, glorious heat to warm and nourish his body
Autumn, a gift of reflection and he'd count blessings
While winter, pretentious, came empty handed
And youth fell for his clever guise each time
How he would dazzle with breathless beauty!
Coming at precise moments of vulnerability
With his pristine cloak of soft white to beguile
He would pose as a friend come for a visit
While he convinces that he'll never remain
All the time he possess your body stealthily
Then wait in silence, lurking in your bones
As he runs schemes to steal away your youth
That old man, now frail, spend days before a fire
And in solitude, reminisces about his past
He did not see winter as ancient or deceptive
Had no clue that winter is never to taste joy
Today, he still brings out his best brandy
And gladly shares with his permanent guest
The youthful years have all dissapeared
And like the magical portrait of Dorian Gray
Winter appears younger and prettier, still!

A Seasons Dance

Autumn, a kittens purr before wakening jolt.
Sincere colors that differ each day,
Each fall day creeps up before winters bolt.
After barrenness thrives of nature’s way,
Sensual frosty covers, arrive as new born colt.
Only bold sunlight brilliantly begins to play.
Nature’s swing of new birth begins the molt.
Spreading beautiful dancers, this shall stay.
Delivering stanzas until another natural revolt,
All the seasons parade into cascading array.
Now the bold days of summer, defend the gray.
Creating blooming artifacts upon our display,
Each year delivers, only, what we all weigh.

A Season Unwelcome

Once it was bright and warm
but now wet and dull,
the summer has transformed
into autumn, a season fraught
with chilly winds and changing
colours; first glorious greens but
then striking reds, oranges and yellows.
Autumn is a season that symbolises
change and the un-noticed challenges
that we all face regardless of
whatever form they take.
Many scorn it for being a season
that many seasonal illnesses
suddenly arise, like strained
springs suddenly being released
creating a sound that ricochets
all around, bouncing off every
surface.
But still autumn persists for
it is locked in an eternal cycle
created by Mother Nature herself.
Autumn – a season to be cherished
and welcomed for without autumn
new life cannot form when spring
arrives creating a new blossoming
paradise of colours for the summer
that follows where the sun will bestow
its very light on very living soul.

Autumn, a Fine Time of Year

Autumn

                 A fine time of year
Its not the same as the other seasons, remember
Autumn has an exceptional allure and aroma
Autumn is the time when the elements are askew
Neither friend or foe, neither beast or beauty

Winter It's not the season I savor
                The unwelcomed anguish
The atrocious winds and the inhumane iciness
and a yearning for daffodils to revel themselves

Springtime when nature will absolve itself of winter.
                 Arriving with a placid assuage.
                 Rapidly maturing into summer

The abundant days of summer, with its unkind heat
                 Days once ardent
                 Will soon quench us again.
                 Returning to autumn
                 A fine time of year.

Dying Embers of Autumn

Dying Embers of Autumn-a Triquatrain

Now night is done, the welcome sun
Breaks through and greets the dawn.
A rose in bloom with faint perfume
Awakes this Autumn morn.

What awesome sight at morning light,
A tapestry of leaves.
Exquisite shades in woods and glades,
A wondrous web she weaves.

The winds may blow, until the snow
Of winter takes a hold.
There’s much to see, the wild and free,
Before the days grow cold.

A robin sings, such joy he brings,
The sweetest melody.
While Nature stirs, the world demurs,
For winter is our destiny.

Belt Driven

This is autumn; a time for fairs,
Where local farmers show off produce, from that land of theirs.
Livestock is also another big hit;
And some folks are enjoying the horse-drawing pit.
But in many states, as any midwesterner knows,
Many gather to watch the tractor shows.
Cases, Masseys, and Internationals can be found;
And you may see a Rumley,or perhaps a John Deere around.
Classic tractors of days gone by.
Stirring memories ,and bringing tears of longing to many eyes.
But for tractor buffs, the highlight of the day,
Is watching the old steamers put on display.
Sometimes a saw-rig, or thresher is at the fair.
Perhaps an old haybaler may even be there.
The machine is parked, and then a tractor brought in,
Having an etra drum on the side, which can be made to spin,
By engaging a clutch, and drawing the engine's power.
Both connected by a long leather belt, they go hour after hour.
As long as there is still work to be done,
A belt driven machine can be continually run.
They never get tired, since all the power they've felt,
Comes from the engine at the end of that belt!
We humans also need an external source of "drive".
Because in our own strength we could never survive!
Just like a machine, we sit unused, in the field,
Til we're belted to a tractor, and the horsepwer it yields.
God has more power than we'll ever need.
We have to have Him working through us, if we are to succeed.
And He's willing to belt-up with us for any task.
He's merely waiting for us humbly to ask.
                                                                                             Charlie Pelota HSLP

Paint a Picture

Paint a picture of a mountain scene with colors of autumn a glow
Paint in white, the highest peak, first of a winter snow
Then somewhere in the distance, the hint of a waterfall,
let it cascade down into a little creek, on the bank, a rotting log
Let the leaves fall from the trees in shades of gold and red
The wisp of a cloud up high and paint an eagle over head
Paint the shimmer of reflection in the quiet shade of a pool,
The ripple of a brook- trout, as it looks for a minnow school
Then paint the rays of the sun, as they steal through limbs of black and brown
Creating little spots of shade that play with leaves on the ground
Down at the bottom, sign your name with pride for all to see
For you are to paint God’s Creation, what an honor that will be

Cruel Gaze

You see me by the cruel gaze
your finger stroke tantalize
my thoughts like flames
pain deep within.
Blind to the signs of chaos
constricted of breath
a thousand voices pause
lips dripping with death.
No tears for the lonely
myopic in scope, minds
intent on trickery only, hope
desperation, death notes
by rote inscribed.
There is no respite, the lies
eyes of the shadows
assassins' vows
the clash of destinies sanguine;
black grins, white phantoms
fail of reasons, demons of laughter
tones sharp in the air
Destroy me! Destroy me!, they stare-
I smile, each face of stone
confined within a labyrinth
each breath shallower than before
still give me more.
One breath from eternity
befalls the jeweled sky
silver moons, red sunsets
sweet beauty defies.
Escape i must
this secret touch
subliminal streams of dreams
abut these ties, love crimes-
I pierce the distance
sun kiss sapphires,
and visions of indigo seas
in autumn, a late breeze.
They die away
enemies of my soul
the still of a purple haze
inverse of a cruel gaze.
