Best Across The Country Poems
Springtime rain brings fresh array
of flowers east to west.
The Rockies’ red and purple tufts
of mountain pride are best.
And mats of foliage named moss pink face south to get the sun
while buttercups put forth large blooms
so not to be outdone.
Then comes the rain to bleak terrain
where gloriously unfolds
alongside barren roads - in patches -
desert marigolds.
Mojave yucca, blue lupines,
and sego lily whites
with Indian prairie fire flowers
paint the deserts bright.
And common flowers of the fields
in every place abound.
Sweet Joe-Pye weed; Black-eyed Susan
push up from the ground.
The California poppy makes
a patchwork orange and blue
while dandelions most unloved
will countless seedlings spew.
In southern marshes blossom too
the water hyacinths,
making of the waterways
pesky labyrinths.
In northern streams grow pussy willows
naked with no petals,
and somewhere on a touch-me-not
a bumblebee now settles.
Blossoming in woodlands now
are flowers in the shade,
but most prefer the sunlight of
an open forest glade.
The wild columbine dressed blue
and handsome in the breeze,
fragrant like the violet,
gives nectar to the bees
All across the country
there awaken everywhere,
each in their appointed region,
wild flowers fair.
Daisies, clover, daffodils
and lovely Queen Anne’s lace.
They briefly stay, but we can see
more fully nature’s grace!

What do you know,
About the rule of British?
It is not a rule
For Indian`s to cherish!
It started decades ago,
They began with trade
And then slowly,
They began to invade.
It started at the borders
That were close to the coasts
It was a rule,
About which Britain boasts.
What then became of the Indians
And their peaceful life?
The British turned it ,
Into more of a bitter strife.
The horrors of British rule
Steadily began to bloom.
Across our country far and wide
Began the days of gloom.
The Indians didn`t back out,
They fought for their rights.
Across the country could be seen
The start of horrendous fights.
Battles were in plenty,
Loss of lives were too.
Those who were caught were jailed
It was like a human zoo!
It didn`t stop the Indians
They wanted to be free.
They were a support to the country
Like strong roots to a tree.
Images of the horrors
Were seen at different posts.
What about innocent people?
The images haunted them like ghosts!
Few hundred years of struggle
Had come to an end.
It was decided that the British
Back to England they would send.
The country we live in today
Is thanks to those,
The brave freedom fighters
Who destroyed our woes.
Take my hand, walk with me.
I'll show you fragments from my life.
Its broken sidewalks, silently paved by broken souls,
their anger pent up from a world war.
I'll show you soft winters of a child and his sled.
The burden and frustrations of being a teenager,
in the sixties.
A President murdered, water fountains with signs,
blacks only,whites only.
Cities burning, gas rationing, fear of nuclear annihilation.
My shattered dream and short stint as a professional athlete.
My years on an aircraft carrier that sent pilots to war,
to the old man I am today.
I hitch-hiked across the country,a year lost, or a year spent
and asked nothing from any one, except truth.
I care little for those who think themselves important,
it's a waste of energy and it becomes folly.
I built a business and retired from it,
to hold my grand-children close.
If this poem gives you pause,
then writing it claims its purpose.

SPIRITS OF THE PARROTS
Two parrots, one red, one blue,
share one large, rotund zoo cage,
just the two of them.
There are plenty of perches,
yet they sit on the same one,
close together,
looking over a feast
of fruit and seeds to share.
They make no noise,
as if in silent prayer
before their meal.
Where are those parrots today?
Where is the cage?
Can we see their spirits
flying past the zoo, over the city,
up and down the state, across the country?
When they fly through clouds
and rest on phone wires,
can they see rallies on street corners,
counter-rallies opposite,
each group waiting for the other
to offend them, just so they can lash out
with swear words and name-calling,
refusing to even look for common ground?
No, most likely, they stay in heaven,
flying close together,
exploring the new Jerusalem,
eating fruit from the tree of life,
the red one and the blue one.

Colors of the sunset burst from behind the mountain range
Across the desert it looked like a fire blazing in the sky
I will never forget the miles traveled, to reach a sight like this
It still blazes in my memory after all these years
Sometimes, it’s that perfect moment, the timing is just right
When the world is suddenly seen in a different view
Struck with amazement, by all that this creation can be
Across the country, changes happen, realizations come about
Lessons learned by striking sights, through luring miles and time
While blazing new trails to travel, all in new frames of mind

How innocent can we begin?
How icy cold can we get?
Thousands of miles away
Yet my story remained static
As I lit a fire up in the night
I set fire to my foes
A true monster hunter
With a heavy load to bear
And as we fell deeper into despair
And grew stronger as a team
I reached out for a sign
That never came to be
I left my teenage years behind me
And emerged lonelier than I'd ever been
The world began to slow
And the end loomed near
The guillotine fell
And severed all we believed in
I gripped onto the idea of hope
Though the rope sliced into my hand
The world slowed down
As I watched my past repeat
You flew across the country
As disease claimed my friend
The summer sun shone eternal
As we embraced the time we had
Cool waves against warm air
As we burnt ourselves against each other
I took my first steps in a strange land
The nights were lonelier than ever before
The days passed completely alone
And I found solace in an old habit
Summer's last onslaught of heat
Drenched my clothes as I carved my path
A sea of wyverns cast its waves upon my shore
And I let my socks get soaked
I severed my past for a new future
I'd truly thought it was correct
I lost out to lust one last time
Before I let the reaper make his call
As regret washed over my sands
I chose to fight the best I could
But the world of autumn colors before me
Fell victim to complete gray in time
I'm spiraling through turbulent winds
And stealing each moment I can in the candlelight
I'm clamoring to rebuild what I destroyed
In the hopes that an answer will become clear
Sassy Lady
A blond bombshell beauty,
Sensual cornflower blue eyes
That dropped men to their knees
I watched that
Sassy lady one night
On the southwest corner
Of Lexington Avenue
And 52nd street
In a white dress
I listen to the
Click, click, click
As she walks by
In high heels
Mesmerized
With the sway of her sexy hips
As she turns and walks away
With a glimmering
Spark in her eye
I can read her mind
To her surprise
Over a subway grate
Her dress is blown upward
With the blast of warm air
Embarrassed
She turns back
Looks my direction
With a playful flirtation
My excitement arouses

Marilyn Monroe
American Actress
popular sex symbols of the 1950s and early 1960s
Lived: Jun 01, 1926 - Aug 05, 1962 (age 36)
The film; The Seven Year Itch,
Hearing an approaching subway train, Monroe stepped onto the grate, having her skirt blown high by the train passing underneath, saying “ooh do you feel the breeze from the subway, isn’t it delicious.” Minds across the country were simultaneously blown.
Extreme temperatures,
Melting of glaciers,
Rising sea level,
Wildfires,
Forests' obliteration,
Droughts,
Drying up of lakes and rivers,
Desertification,
Hurricanes,
Storms,
Flooding, and
Landslides,
Is the vocabulary Mother Nature uses to
Pen its stern warning to Man:
" Oh, you thoughtless being, mind your ways and revere
my eternal laws of harmonious cooperation and coexistence,
otherwise, I would not be able to provide for your subsistence."

For more than two weeks, the temperatures in Greece have been around
40 Celsius, sometimes, like today, it is 45.
During this period, wildfires are raging across the country. It comes on a day that
Our firefighters are trying to contain more than eighty fires.

Drive across the country
Let imagination flow
Tumbleweed and flat lands
Reveal a western show
Mile markers pave the way
Across this land sublime
Wind blows through the car
On my arm sunshine
Generations of people
Spirits across the land
Occupy a history
Of faces in the sand
Deep inside our spirit
Adheres to our respect
This peaceful land of bounty
No one shall reject
Fresh cut grass lingers
The present rescinding more
Where old shacks and farms
Grasp our inner core
Land abound with wisdom
Dust has settled down
Enjoy driving the distance
See another town
Another boring lost night.
Sipping on warm beers outside the local store.
Trying to stay outta the cops sight.
Cars gather stereos blasting in the
parking lot.
Local kids gather telling stories
and smoking pot.
Susan and Billy just got back
togather.
Jacks drunk again.
Lookin for a fight with a mind of a child
and skin of leather.
The town tramp and the football team.
There studs and she's a ****.
Its a flaw in society it does seem.
broken bottles and the butt of a
cigarette.
We were all there sometime.
First loves are the hardest to forget.
Drinking beers outta plastic red cups talkin
bout gettin out of this place.
Best friends always forget to touch base.
Looking for something togather in the backseat.
Voices fill the air.
In parking lots across the country kids meet.
Allison wants to be perfect so she starves herself
for days.
Cindy cant stand this life.
So with a razor she plays.
Tommy tries to ignor what others say.
Idiot's mix well with ignorance.
He just got beaten half to death for being
gay.
His lifes so perfect yet he overdoses
Farewell to the pain he bid's
Makes you question.
What besides angst is with the
kids
I am having a heavenly day among swaying flowers,
away from my usual city existence;
tumbling, I lay supine beneath a huge tree,
under the safety of cool emerald leaves.
A raging stream not far flows on it's forest journey,
oh, there is such a sweetness in the simplicity of nature;
as I listen to birds twittering and bees buzzing,
watching the sun shine on a distant hill.
Lovely horses come galloping across the country field,
but, soon my eyes close and I have a dream of leaping;
the sun touches me with a caress of warmth,
and delicate hues of wild flowers sway a dance.
The sun is high in the bright azure sky and still I lay,
then, a gossamer wing kisses my ruby lips startling me;
and a beautiful blue butterfly hovers above me fluttering,
and I am full of harmony, peace and calm . . . .

Let us play holi holi.....
With the color of saffron,
to inject stimulant
into the vein of every Indian,
to raise voice against monopoly,
to trigger rifle against terrorists,
to fight against corruption
and to pen against
Mudslinging, violence and sedition.
After all,
Forgetting everything....
We should focus our approach
for the integrity of our nation.....(1)
Let us play holi holi
With the color of white,
to spread the message of peace
among every Indian,
to enhance brotherhood,
to excel patriotism.
to augment love & affection,
and to kill
selfishness, intolerance and discrimination.
After all,
forgetting everything....
We should focus our approach
for the purity of our nation.
Let us play holi holi
With the color of green,
to expedite growth of farmers
across the country,
to increase production,
to improve education,
to minimize ailment,
and to end
poverty, unemployment and stagnation.
After all,
forgetting everything.......
We should focus our approach
for the growth of our nation.

Note: Holi is one of the sacred festival of India. It is a festival of colors. Here I invite all of you to play holi with tricolors of our national flag i.e. saffron, white and green.

I feel so weird. lost confused. it feels like a bad dream like I got punched really hard in the stomach.breathless.dizzy.nauseous..like I can just stare without thought reason or rhyme.feel like I'm trapped inside of a maze with spectators mocking my every move.like when I was a kid and my best friend moved all the way across the country.there was so much I wanted to tell you and the words are just vanishing without site..and when I look knowing you're not there I still see your big beautiful eyes staring into mine knowing when I tell you something that you fully listen and I always anticipate your response. and now it's all gone your arms around me just fall apart...everything inside me just falls apart and all I wanted was to be with you again just to hold you like a doll that's all I want...I was so happy that I finally met somebody that understands me and I to you...all that's left in me is a heart filled with joy, , captivated bliss,, unconditional love,, in moments of pure levity because inside me all of me I can only be very grateful and fortunate having you in my life in the joy you brought me the strength you gave me in the hope that pushed me towards achieving the goals that I had set forth.. you are so great and so wonderful..this time ahead of you that you say you have to work on yourself, you do just that because the world doesn't know what it has waiting for it~ the essence that is you
