Best Abides Poems
I start my afternoon hike up a mountain trail.
October’s sunlight, the vestige of Indian Summer,
dapples my exposed skin with welcomed warmth.
Sun’s rays are gilded tendrils cutting through pines
whose needles’ sweet scent
I breathe deeply in.
I can almost taste the breeze as it rushes past,
waltzing through the many trees.
The sky, immersed in azure, is heavenly!
I imagine its clouds having been swirled by the wind
with which I wish I too were dancing.
Bright foliage surrounds me.
I am bedazzled by them as they ostensibly flaunt
hues of scarlet, rich amber honey, russet, and tangerine -
an ocean of windswept trees!
My destination is a pristine lake where new trees
shimmer - mirrored in its crystal blue.
One oak is so tall it seems like a steeple reaching upward.
Its limbs have formed an arbor which beautifies
the view that greets my eyes.
Acquiescing to enthrallment, I linger there
where tranquility’s quintessence abides,
inhaling October’s unique potpourri.
Dusk will soon swallow up the day,
so I begin my descent. Birds twitter; leaves whisper.
Seeing me, a timid rabbit scampers behind a bush.
Heaven seems fused with the terrain,
igniting my world with iridescence
as against a splash of persimmon, seagulls soar.
How I would love to glide home like those glorious birds.
Intoxicated by the rhapsody of colors,
I come to the bottom of the trail with just enough time
to reach my home’s comfort before night’s chill
envelops all.

BEAUTY ABIDES
Beauty abides, and as her lover,
I lift her veil to see transparent eyes glimmering
with an enticement worthy of seduction.
Touching some primordial passion,
she wreaks havoc on my senses.
And graces me with unspoken words
that promise delightful pleasure.
Beauty reigns as Queen supreme.
Upon her throne she emanates majesty
with an exquisite demeanor and
I stand back intimidated and shy.
Who can reframe this emotion?
Not a poet or artists brush.
Her soft rolling hills and gentle valleys;
expectations of undiscovered treasures
fire an imaginative pose
I am bound up in a mystic rush
that dominates like a drug's addiction.
And in a exotic haze I lie dreaming
of ephemeral caresses,
highly charged currents
that flow unrestricted around
her coveted reactive spaces.
Alone, with thoughts in time displaced,
I wonder, does she entrance all others?
Or in my silent muse am I the only one
transformed and felled by her abstract beauty?
Her allure is enduring, enshrined for all to see.
The recherche picture of her memory
never grows old and she still remains
indelibly imprinted on my erotic mind.

SYNOPSIS
A question for you...
1.) Is the poem about a woman?
2.) or is it about a beautiful mountainous valley?
Love sought me out
Never leaving me in doubt
From my Mother’s eyes
Shining bright, alive, life-size
Love silenced all my fears
Wiping away my tender tears
Reassuring my soul of hope
Silencing weeping so I could cope
Love braved the coldest dread
Making me feel joy instead
Encouraging my faith, my trust
Erasing worry and every disgust
Love singled me out to believe
Silencing uncertainty, so I receive
Promises of a future so bright
It’s pretty much black and white…
Love lives inside, always smiling
Charming, persuading, beguiling
Creating a home for every dream
Where God’s wonder reigns supreme
Love like this is alive, a dancing fire
Reminding the heart to believe and admire
The grace that brings relief and peace
It will never go away, never release
The heart from its amazing conviction
That love is more than simply addiction
Love is the prayer and the solution
Love is the heart and soul’s restitution
Like a light burning away the darkness
Removing the past’s haunting, its starkness
With the brilliance of a passion so alive
The feelings inside the heart will forever thrive
God is love and love is God
Wherever you go, here or abroad
There is no doubt that love abides
Joy, hope and peace it always provides
Love like this is a wonder
Nothing can ever put it asunder

Faith hides ~
All is lost
in the scheme
of things
Faith abides ~
My every breath
a pair of wings
There is a place where love abides;
Where hearts know not fears.
Come and join by my side;
Let me wipe away your tears.
Trust and take my hand;
Have faith in humankind.
Be you here or in a foreign land;
We shall leave no one behind.
Unite, Warriors of the Rainbow;
To create a world that is fair.
Let our numbers rise and grow;
Please form a circle prayer.
With one common quest;
We are not so different, you and I.
Let all lands from east to west;
Be a place where love abides.

Three things in life last forever
Faith, hope and love
The greatest is love
God is love
He that abides in love
Abides in God
And God in him
Success begins in our lives
When the problems and hurts of others
Matter to us
When the wound of one
Is the wound of all
When the pain of others
Is the pain of all
It is only through love
That we can respond to God
If we give everything we own
To the poor but do not love
No matter what we say
No matter what we believe
We are bankrupt without love
Love never gives up
Love is always there to act
In the face of persecution
In the face of intimidation
In the face of trial
In the face of temptation
Lord give us love enough
To overlook the mistakes of others
Lord let us rejoice when others do well
Love cares more for others
Than for self
Love does not want
What it does not have
Love is positive
It does not want anything negative
Love is good
It does not want anything bad
Love does not want hatred
Because love is love
Love does not strut
It does not have swollen head
Love does not belittle anyone
Love does not look down on others
Love does not force itself on others
Love puts up with anything
Love is determined
Love perseveres for the best
Which is yet to come
Love looks for the best
Love keeps going to the end
No matter the obstacle
No matter the difficulty
If we speak in tongues of angels
But we do not love others
We are simply making a noise
If we can prophecy the future
And understand all mysteries
Or have faith to move mountains
But we do not love others
We have accomplished nothing in life
A person who does not love
Cannot be entrusted with the power of God
He will misappropriate and misuse it
To hurt himself and others
Love looks around to see who is in need
Cause help is the best investment
In all we do let love lead
It’s true some people follow Judaism
and some are followers of Buddhism.
Well I’m no Buddhist
but a devout Dudeist
which makes me a dude of Dudeism!

The snow lay on the land ln soft folds
some deep, others were a sprinkling.
Sound was hushed by its blanket
Leaving a quiet stillness in its wake'
Layers of pristine snow muffled foot steps
all the creatures were drawn with curiosity
To a clearing deep in the very dense forest
where a wonderous sight was to be seen.
For there lying in a cradle was a babe
one by one the creatures knelt down
worshiping the babe and the promise
that its birth brought of a new road.
A new form of peace embraced all
each and every form of life came
together in new understanding
and the heaven's lit up in splendour.
Once again we are reminded
of the Lord's "peace be with you"
The world pauses in expectation, a waxing moon
The timepiece whose silent ticking is heard by
The worm within as it gnaws with urgent force.
Momentum of thinking is fuelled by hope,
Ordaining the path towards joy or despair;
An uncertain end pricking inner turmoil.
The world watches, but sees only an outward calm,
Not the worm’s insistent bite within. Yet;
The world smiles, the moment passes and the
Worm is stilled when hope is not yet lost.
Earth abides, and this small radish dissolves
Into introspection, becoming lost in fairy castles of hope,
Ignoring the realities of life and the ruthless
(im)probabilities of success.
In Faraway Land, Where Sweetest Rhapsody Abides
In faraway land, where sweetest rhapsody abides
there is hope and smoke in tight little curls;
with life's mysteries and all that it hides,
deep romance and those tasty little hidden swirls.
In distant land, sweet dreams arrive by truckloads
with fire that sets one's soul alight;
one has but to walk barefoot on such dusty roads
to find joy overcoming dark world's blight.
In dear heartland, eager sings love's magic touch
where just one kiss can bring eternal bliss;
all the days of joy almost seem too much,
with dreams fruiting love, one dare not miss.
In homeland, rests blessings of family and friends
every dawn brings light and promised new start;
youth with hope and ambitions that never ends,
dance with maidens with purest love in each tender heart.

Watching mundane seconds tick away
Linked together they form passing years
This flimsy chain around my neck does not betray
Nor can my stinging eyes squeeze back the tears
Dreams begin to float out of my reach
Tormented by what makes me so distressed
Losing many of my hopes I feel besieged
Yet still reflecting on the way my life is blessed
The silence puzzles me and pierces with its thunder
The foundation bucks the shaking of its core
What God has joined together no man puts asunder
The waves are beating hard upon our shores
Weary eyes look towards damp clouds and search for light
Desperate to feel some warmth deep within my bones
Will its brilliant glow supplant the bluish night
Giving a sneak peek into the great unknown
Chasing those rainbows now seems like wasted time
The pot of gold was a seductive ruse of lead
Perhaps we were just lonely partners in crime
Caught up in reveries we thought surely lied ahead
Waiting for the stars to fall into my hands
To turn this to profound from the surreal
Nobody but the stars can understand
That I’ll fall victim to my poor Achilles heel
Where beauty abides
The heart is at home
And love is enthroned
Ruling inside
The beauty’s unseen
Sparkling and clean
In light and repose
It doesn’t suppose
Where beauty abides
To friendship it’s bound
Living in light
It never takes sides
Always innocent new
Desired by all observed by few
Some think it’s not there
They see only dimly
And don’t seem to care
In beauty is strength
Order and power
It’s love that has made it
And perfected its hour
Who abides
Would abide
Though you go for a ride
Now and then
Here and there
Or never
To nowhere
Who abides
Would abide
Sincere or snide
However you speak
Love and eat
Advance
Or retreat
Who abides
Would abide
Whether you follow or guide
Stand up
Weak or strong
Perish now
Or live long
Who abides
Would abide
And take it all in stride
Saintliness and sin
Day and night
And also the
Twilight
Appearance
reality
their differences
hide
Within the
perception
that judgment
abides
If once
crossing over
there’s no
going back
The tradeoff
complete
their identity
