Fight hard
as long as you're not too defensive
or worse, stronger than him
so we can't tell that he hit you
so we don't have to pick up your slack
Speak your mind
as long as your voice isn't louder than his
or worse, too assertive or contradicting it
so you say something worth listening to
so he can get his word in edgewise
Make it rain
as long as you don't make more than him
or worse, take his
so you're not a gold digger
so you can't get out from under his umbrella
Be a damsel
as long as your inevitable distress doesn't cause unrest
or worse, distract from his
so you know how to fend for yourself
so we don't have to hear you whine
Stay in shape
as long as your muscles aren't too bulky
or worse, bigger than his
so you're easy on the eyes
so you don't hurt his pride
Seduce sweetly
as long as you're not a ****
or worse, a whore
so he wants you
so you think that's what your worth is
Make this house a home
as long as you don't forget who makes the bread around here
or worse, forget to put his dinner on the table
so that you're a good homemaker
so that you have no valid claim to what he makes
Be everything
Be nothing
OBSERVATION – 2017
Far from Monet’s garden
with ruptured thought of plain air
the futurist philosophers have tasted
the poison mushroom
and rushed to Bethlehem
As though mere noise will save the day
They wave to heaven
with crazy gyrations
And the Kingdom seems lost in hypocrisy
Will the daisies bloom
be loved once again
The promise be fulfilled? -
Some say yes at hope’s better end -
Or does the soul look out in fear
and distrust this split-in-two world?

9 more days and christmas will be back
That man in the red suit carrying his sack
Squeezing down your chimney
Or using the magic key
Merry Christmas everyone I know for 2017
We raise a glass to you all Alex, Jobird and family
To absent friends that have passed
Your certainly not forgotten
I will save you all the brussel sprouts
As they are truly rotten
I raise my glass to you all
A real pleasure to have known you
Glad tidings up there at heavens ball
Look over us I'm sure you already do
Merry Christmas everyone stay safe
Look after each other
Keep the faith
You are all sister and brothers

Hull is the great and unique city where I was born
Sitting on the Humber estuary...proud and all alone
Known for keeping Charles I and his army out through courage and bravery
Also the birthplace of William Wilberforce who helped abolish slavery
The most bombed city outside of London during the 2nd World War
This made a strong community stronger even more
With a long and colourful history in shipbuilding, fishing and trading
The old image of Hull is still there ...but it's fading
The docks have been redesigned as shopping centre's or parks
It has an amazing aquarium that's got jellyfish, stingrays and sharks
The music and arts scene in Hull holds its own against the rest
The 2 mile bridge that spans the river is rated amongst the best
There's many green spaces to chill or restaurants to drink and dine in
It's now not unusual for Hull City or FC to score or even get a win
Hull has been rewarded with the City of Culture 2017
The redevelopment of this great city is very welcome but totally unforeseen

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)
-“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 (NIV)
- Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer
Romans 12: 12 ( NIV )
-The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
Exodus 14: 13 ( NIV )

New Years comes around way to soon each year.
There is so much to do and never enough time.
I usually don’t make resolutions because –
I NEVER have been able to keep them.
I wish for many improvements in my life.
For starters I want to start working in the yard again.
But that is not all. The usual things come to mind like:
Eat healthier; lose weight, which I have given up on,
And get back to the basic things that I love doing,
such as: writing poetry, painting pictures,
playing with Photoshop, taking more photographs,
and enjoying my senior life even with 4 children to raise.
There are some resolutions that I really should work on,
such as: Potty training the toddler and baby –
Being consistent at following through
with consequences , even when I am tired,
when the teen and pre-teen skip tidying,
say naughty words, pick on each other,
or try to get out of chores.
But I have decided, instead to make
New Year’s Resolutions
That I know I can keep. (Is that cheating?)
I resolve to:
1. Never climb down in the huge sinkhole again.
2. Stay off of the children’s twisted slide.
3. I won’t speed down the hill on the John Deer mower.
(I’m not sure I can keep that one. Lol)
4. I won’t climb trees without a ladder.
5. I won’t watch any X-rated movie except:
The Passion of Christ, Shindler’s List,
And the Pirate Movie with Gena Davis,
6. I will not eat hominy.
That’s about it! Happy New Year! (This was fun.)

New Years Day, ready or not, surely comes.
In quiet celebrations or barroom brawls,
Joys and pains may bring delight or bedlams.
Confetti falls and men toast one and all.
In quiet celebrations or barroom brawls,
The junction of laughs and fears, then, begins.
Confetti falls and men toast one and all.
Man celebrates the day with tears and grins.
The junction of laughs and fears, then, begins.
Fancy floats and scary dragons walk streets.
Man celebrates the day with tears and grins.
Wild football games host winners and defeats.
Fancy floats and scary dragons walk streets.
Children watching TV wish to be there.
Wild football games host winners and defeats.
Men drink beer, shout and watch each move with care.
Children watching TV wish to be there.
Safely at home some parents enjoy fun.
Men drink beer, shout and watch each move with care.
Celebrating at home makes family one.
Safely at home some parents enjoy fun.
Joys and pains may bring delight or bedlams.
Celebrating at home makes family one.
New Years Day, ready or not, surely comes.

It's now that time of the year when no one is in the stands...
And there are groans and wishes from anxious football fans.
The players are at the beach working on their tans...
And coaches are huddling making upcoming game plans.
It won't be long before the whistle will blow...
And another football season will be on the go.
We eager fans can hardly wait...
And we'll be buying tickets and standing at the gate.
It's hard to believe that it's about to begin...
So here hoping that you and your team will have no losses only wins.
I appreciate the impact that your hard work makes...
But i Know the price that effort takes.
Wishing you, your staff and the team the best for 2017...
May this be the best team your fans have ever seen.
Have a great season and enjoy the ride...
Wishing you the best as you lead and guide.

"It is the year of the coq"
Said Alice from Dallas
"Rooster rhymes with booster
and gallus with phallus"
Ladies, prepare for a goose
Grope Meister Trump's on the loose
Not one clucking request
Will ever feather your nest
The Russians gave him a boost
So Grope Meister Trump rules the roost
But if you follow his lead,
"You're fired", with no chicken feed!
The Coq struts and crows
But forgets what he owes
To everyone in the coop
Who did not know "dupe" from poop!
I have lost sight of you once again.
Frustrated, I search every nook, every corner, every crevice that you have been known to hide.
I call for you, but my efforts are to no avail.
Without you I am a creature without choice,
A wretch with no power to make change.
So I will wallow in the consequences of my absent minded nature, for i have forgotten where I left you.
It seems as though i am forced to reckon with watching this program on ABC family until i shrivel and choke,
and return to the soil.
Today we do not honor hamburgers or franks
Today we offer thanks
For those who died or were maimed
To fight against evil or whatever it's named
To fight against ignorance, stupidity and vice
Or to be more precise
To fight for something grander than against,
Unrecompensed.
Today we remember those who died for a principle
For the country one and indivisible
Just one day a year, just one time to appear
Just one moment to give, by us who still live
A prayer of remembrance.
And we remember what he said, what Abraham Lincoln said:
“The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise -- with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.
“Fellow-citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration, will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance, or insignificance, can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation...We -- even we here -- hold the power, and bear the responsibility.”
Remember them, remember, remember,
Remember them, America, and offer a prayer of thanks this Memorial Day
For all they have given and and all they have lost
This day and every day.
New Year's Resolution, 2017 (Light Humor)
For the longest time, it has been stated that we use only 10 percent of our brain.
Of course, the hold idea of brain usage is in dispute for a myriad of reasons.
So let us assume that it is not true that we use only 10 percent of our brain.
Let us also conclude with the idea that we utilize far less than is available to us.
Let us suppose that we use 30 percent and declare ourselves smarter than we think we are. With that in mind, I am throwing caution to the wind and saying,
“Look out world for my brain because in 2017, my resolution is to start running on all cylinders”. I hereby resolve to use the remaining 70 percent of my brain.
30 percent simply is not enough to make the necessary changes.
I hereby apologize for the portion of my brain that has been idle for years.
Just to think about so great a neglect is enough to bring me to tears.
Just imagine how such an achievement helps to free us of so much pain.
Who knows? Maybe I will be able to inspire a million others to do the same.
Just imagine all of the untapped potential just waiting and sitting there.
Just think for a minute and try wrapping your brain around that if you dare.
Perhaps we will learn how to build a beautiful new city at the bottom of the sea.
I can visualize a jumbo jet flight from the Eastern seaboard in New York City, sucking in enough solar energy to fly all the way to the City of San Francisco.
I tell you, with a fully utilized brain we could at very low cost make fresh drinking water from the salty sea. Unlike The Straw Man from The Wizard Oz,
I have a brain. Therefore, I shall resolve to use the other 70% of my brain. And who knows? Perhaps we can keep singing , “My Country, Tis of Thee”.
It is going to take more than brain power to save America and the world.
But fully using our God-given brains? How can it hurt?
12212016 PS Contest, New Years Resolution, Kim Rodrigues
(FYI:( There is no scientific evidence that we use only 10% of our brain. On the contrary, an article in Scientific America concludes by saying, Ultimately, it’s not that we use 10% of our brains, merely that we only understand about 10% of how it functions.)
The countdown has begun
Be sure and stay tuned
To see, as our sun
Parallels the moon
A veil of crescent shadows
Will stretch across my lawn
A gentle wind's blow
And quickly they'll be gone
The sun, a pleasing strength
The temp, rather magical
Be sure not to blink
The sight will be fantastical
