THE PIPER and HIS TUNES

At the crossroads
The bald old man
With his gray stricken beards
Caressed his antiquated flute
Perching on his cracked dehydrated lips
With his spindly fingers
As he nonchalantly reeled out his tunes
He started with the beautiful tune
Of the defiant bed bug mercilessly bearing down on the torso
As in a depraved Mamba choke hold
On it's gasping victim
Next was the leaching lice
Digging, sinking and sucking deeper
Into it's anemic victim
Then he played ringing in the ears
From renegade mosquitos
Next was a nation, it's people and politics of bitterness
Then he played a reclusive and resigned generation
Deserves the leaders they are saddled with
Next was the tune of the city called Sodom
Then he played the tune of "oh king pharaoh let my people go"
Finally, he graduated to the grand tune of: "he who fails to plan, plans to fail."

Premium MemberBed In a Box

A new hybrid mattress bed in a box,
reputed for great comfort that rocks.
Just simply order one online today,
and in no time, you’ll be dreaming away.

I decided to order the new boxed bed,
delivery is quick with no hassles ahead.
My new bed was delivered the next night,
the box was heavy and did not seem right.

We dragged the new mattress up to our room,
unwrapped the plastic and watched it bloom.
It started to inflate before we cut it all free,
and quickly placed it where it needed to be.

I gasped as I saw a dead beetle on the bed,
I started to feel scared and full of dread.
I used a flashlight to closely check it all over,
and found a tiny dead bug stuck to the cover.

My hubby came running as I crazily shout,
and said, “get that infested thing out”!
We then threw our new mattress out the front door,
and spent hours cleaning the box spring and floor.

I now can’t sleep well, worried of biting pests,
every night I complete the flashlight tests.
I check my old mattress, box spring and rug,
and hope and pray not to spot a bed bug.

Premium MemberAnt Encounter

I was relaxing one night while reading in bed,
then felt something crawling, as I froze with dread.
Fearing it could be a spider or a dreaded bed bug,
It’s Just my luck since I was feeling cozy and snug.
It’s now running up my leg, as I let out a yell,
while quickly jumping out of bed, I nearly fell.
I threw the covers back, while cringing with fear,
not sure what I will find and if it’s still there.
I spot the huge black ant running all around,
I quickly grab a tissue, hoping to take it him down.
Luckily, I was able to rid the big black ant in my bed,
and any new bug encounters will end up dead.

(My poem was inspired by an ant encounter I had last night while I was reading in bed. Just glad it wasn't a spider!)

Premium MemberBug Bite

Scratching a bug bite.
A bug bit him in the rear.
       Which was the culprit?
      Could it be a mosquito?
 He slept butt-naked last night.
      It's probably a bed bug!

Stud

Those who misuse and those who manipulate
Those who spoil and those who date
They are cheap and you think they are royal
They may please you but they are not loyal
They are bed bug and they are mud
They are disgrace and they are stud
They are constantly building relations with accuracy
Believe me girl their purpose is intimacy.

Nun of the Above Supplication

I do not like how bed bugs prey
They feast upon us night and day
Praise God be kind
Grant peace of mind
And blow those blood-suckers away!

Galatians Five A

"long suffering," is one of the fruit
fruit of the Spirit, make no mistake;
it means patience, not just a mood
like a ruler that will never break.

Sometimes we have to exercise patience
when evil abounds aplenty;
if prayers said offers no deliverance
practice patience, it's not unmanly.

Be glad that one of the "fruit" is yours today
though you have to suffer as one doth may;
keep your hopes up that God won't delay
what must you do? just pray and pray.

There is no answer that will solve this matter
all we have is God's own Words;
He may be late, He is the director!
care for us more than He does for birds!

So look to Galatians 5 as your utmost guide
believe me, you'll get the first opportunity;
and when evil's aplenty like bed bug mites
let you soul pour out in prayers thus freely.

Amen!

Galatians 5: 22-23 states:
verse 22: "In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience (long suffering),
kindness, generosity, faithfulness,"
verse 23: "gentleness, self control. Against such
there is no law."

Amen!

The Bug

THE BUG

I was bitten by a bug
It wasn't the bed-bug kind
It didn't hurt to feel the bite,
The attack was in my mind.

This bug was a different type
It struck one cold winter's night.
It was called a poetry bug,
Which encouraged me to write.

I opened up my laptop,
Yet didn't know where to start.
Poems need to be meaningful,
Ones that spring from the heart.

My thoughts were in a muddle
As words swirled in my head,
I became engrossed in writing,
And forgot to go to bed

Quickly different forms I wrote,
Pantoum, tanka and haiku.
I also wrote a villanelle
Plus a few of humour too..

I was bitten by a bug
It grasped me in it's vice,
Once having tasted it's effects
I won't need to be bitten twice.

Not Let Each Bed Bug Bite

Not Let Each Bed Bug Bite

In the form section Poetry Soup
should start having Horn Haiku.

Many things I left behind
Any of them cannot find
When all are combined.

At church I was wined and dined
God always is on my mind
Being very kind.

Lost things God gave back again
Even saved my soul from sin
My face wears a grin.

May have been sad, wept then slept
God still promises He kept
And sins away swept.

Here is my prayer poem I will
Use and God dreams does fulfil
Pretty daffodil.

This is for Bonnie who is waiting for
Spring to see God's lovely daffodil.

James Serious Mysterious Horn
Retired Veteran and Poet

PS. God will not let each bed bug bite.
So you would become such a sad sight.

A Known Politician

A known politician
Like the bed bug, they bite
Anything that comes their sight
Without being given the right
They are well known for earning more than a stipend
But they always fend
More than what they would spend
Like the weevil, they bore hole
Into the nations credit zone
So that they could be financially mellow
Like the peripatetic soldier ant
They walk down our girls pant
Without having for them a penchant
Like the African wasp, they sting
The decent girls that shun their ping
Because they know they have for them no ring
Like the green mantis
They send insurgents
To kill and crush our people in a blitz-Krieg
And pretend in their political vicarage
As if they are unaware of the carnage
Like the golden eagle, they have carte blanche
To fly around the world and eat a la carte
Without remembering that one day the court will visit their case
Like kite, they go to greater height
Without remembering there would be a night
That every movement will come to halt
And that day they will be starved for nights
And they will be left to fight to right
To bite the carrion in sight

And beg for their death to set

The Bedbugs Come To Call

The Bedbugs Come To Call

By Elton Camp

All my life I’ve heard of this pest
In filthy houses they come to nest

Bed bugs you will never detect
Where people have self-respect

But now we find that is not true
Several things we may come to rue

First of all, we never can tell
Who was before us in the hotel

We must take the greatest care
Bed bugs can be most anywhere

On spreads or sheets they like to hide
On upholstered chairs they’ve been spied

Maid brings them on the housekeeping cart
Or aboard the luggage carrier they may dart

So when we leave the Marriott
Sneaky hitchhikers we’ve got

In the dressing room of the clothing store
Must never lay our garments on the floor

Use the hook on the wall
Coat, clothes, purse and all

In doctor’s waiting room never dare
Sit on cloth cushioned couch or chair

If we buy from any yard sale
Wash the garment without fail

Use water hot as can be
To help stay bed bug free

Don’t think it can’t happen to you
It may, despite all you try to do

But even if the pests we acquire
They cause no real illness dire

So try to have a restful night
Just don’t let the bed bugs bite

Premium MemberMy Retire Attire

My pants are tucked snug beneath the socks on my feet.
I also wear gloves tucked beneath my long sleeves.
I wear a full facial mask of fabric that allows me to breath
and then I retire for the evening and go to sleep.
This isn't some fetish or obsessive compulsion.
This ritual is performed for my own protection
to insure that when I sleep that I am not being eaten
by my current, most unwelcome bed bug infestation.
I must retire this way every day until I can give my apartment
a 100% thorough and complete bed bug fumigation.
Until then I am forced to co exist with them.
Oh the extents I will go to pay cheap rent.

It's time to fix the mattress
fluffy pillows and blankets,
enough room for just one more.
BITE ME' if you can!

Swat after, swat, after swat!
Red itchy skin, what the h3ll!
The open breeze feels real good,
crawling too bite NATE!

A Thing Called Love

Stop being so delusional;
there is no such thing as love.
A man in love is one who lost a few screws.
Love is another word for insanity.

Remember Miss Ivy’s boy, the last one? …
Yes … it is the last one.
Remember how he went off to Canada
and came back with his head so high,
claiming how much he’s in love?
Look at him now! As crazy as a bed bug.
The boy flies over the cuckoo’s nest.

I liked your father;
he was my best friend.
A better man than he was no where to be found
on God’s green earth;
I know because I’ve searched.
Your papa was a wise man;
he gave as much as that which was given him.

That love thing you speak about …
will make you half past crazy.
Love is for rich people …;
they can afford to be idiots.
I missed your father boy;
I really missed him so much.
