The dark intestine of the sea
Swallowed a colony of moonlit bats,
God laughed and threw a new
Canopic jar of graceful waves
For Set and Horus to quarrel over;
God smiled again and the darkness
Stampeded over distant green hills,
Horus cried and Set fainted;
God grimaced and the luminous
Blackness enveloped every flower,
Ancient cliffs and ghastly crabs remained
Transfixed by limpid moonshine;
But the pale owl wrapped its feathers
Around the spirit of every paperbark tree;
Victorious as ever, Pallas traced
The eldritch mnemonics of the Big Dipper
To the earth and Arcturus
Rejoined in an angelic syzygy

Before Boötes’ bright Arcturus birth
or ere from abyss sprung the earth
a trip which celestial chasms spanned
in heaven’s hallowed halls was planned.
God’s Beloved Son would leave His throne
and come to earth as flesh and bone
to live and dwell with mortal man
and execute salvation’s plan.
Assailed by all the hosts of hell,
and those with whom he came to dwell.
The trials of His life were sore
as sin’s wet weight He bore.
Despised and rejected by men
He lived His life in Satan’s den.
A cruel death sent Him to hell
where clay feet go, since Adam fell.
God did not leave His soul in hell
Nor let his body rot and smell.
The third day death freed his guest
Christ rose with immortality dressed.
His Vic ‘try over death bought man,
salvation from sin’s evil plan.
We can now choose to live or die
The choices twain within us lie.
And once Christ’s work on earth was done,
God sent a host to get His Son.
The angels brought him to His throne
from earth’s dark spot to glory’s zone.

For nigh on a hundred-fifty years it has graced the rugged shore of Maine!
Its welcoming beacon guiding sea-faring souls who sail the mighty main!
It has weathered untold fearsome storms of gale, snow, sleet and rain;
A faithful, stalwart sentry defying such nuisances, guarding its vast domain!
Old Captain Blair, its keeper, knows all too well the perils of the sea,
For he captained majestic sailing ships for many decades, you see.
He wearily climbs the circular stair to light the candles at close of day,
And with practiced eye, scans the roiling sea to ascertain that all is okay.
Alas, one dark and stormy night the US Frigate Arcturus met her fate!
A blinding fog and raging seas doomed the Arcturus on that fateful date!
The beam of the lighthouse could not be seen! There was naught to do!
The ship was dashed upon unforgiving shoals drowning her valiant crew!
The old lighthouse still guards that stretch of sea to this very day.
Modern lamps now cast their beam while Captain Blair sleeps 'neath the clay!

DISAPPEARANCE
Light baptised my forsaken body
red whirling a glimmering ocean
Perseidon’s crystalline tears
drip-dropped into mine
manifesting oyster shells
Odysseus smiled blinking
compassion from diamond
rays of Arcturus
embalming my shoulders
with his terrible travels
Silent my soulmate disappeared
crawling onto an opposite bank
into fields of chaffed wheat
towards abyss black
She moulted into grains of rice
or maybe a ladybird’s swoon
floating between Venus wings
seeking her paintbrushes
cleaned and singing
I sought strawberry
yogurt
What else could
sorrow do ?

Flight by Terence Cummings-Smith,
I ride the path ballistic,
in a screaming, scorching arc.
From perigee in flaming hell
to apogee far beyond Arcturus.
Neutrons and tachyons spray,
from magnetic nozzles.
Through burning twisting vortex,
of syncopated space and time.
Reality compresses into pinpoint ultraviolet before,
Mote infrared behind.
My very thoughts lingering,
most far behind.
Time's march freezes,
rolls retrograde.
Nuclei dance, atomically chattering,
Quarks trance.
And I'm there.

Scales always imbalanced
In heart once filled with malice...
Found profound solace
In learnt lessons from unknown
Sources of benevolence.

Berenices and Arcturus
We're inspired.Hydra spoke
new words that tickled there
fancy.
Creation recreates , creation
The sources of which is
Sourced.
We are the materials with origins
Sourced by our own meeting,
gathered truths seeding like
sourced stones.
The things we know and those
things we don't know, hyperthermolly
speaking. They asked does Booted
stand in the Hydras of Ursa's pouring
To have us to believe the big dipper
and the little dipper faced one
another to create the precious stones
of envy. Jewels fashioned from the
Minds of artisans?

How can I explain to you,
you a poor mortal,
what a free spirit is?
Consider I have no bounds,
I go just where I fancy.
I relish moments of madness
without ill effects.
Can you see me waltzing
with a fiery tailed comet
that orbits around far off Arcturus,
in the Herdsmen constellation?
Imbibing its bright soft orange light,
enjoying its hard-to-observe buried corona?
Can you imagine me swim amongst
the spiral and elliptical galaxies?
Bask in their dense luminosity,
irrespective of their fluctuating temperatures?
I've kissed so many moons,
and frolicked with Venus,
watched in awe a cataclysmic nuclear explosion,
as some old dwarf star goes nova.
I've seen all this and more,
but rest assured, o miserable mortal,
that I yearn to be substantial like you.
For you can do so much.....
but not I,
no I can never love or be loved
like you.

November! When the auburn autumn leaves
retard the tinkling brooks of Vallombrosa,
and kitchen chimneys draw the old ones closer:
when timid fieldmice nestle in the eaves
and oaken chests give up our longer sleeves,
and finer fabrics cede the game to grosser:
we close John Grisham, open Vargas LLosa:
Orion rises, and Arcturus grieves.
But sometimes there’s a gracious interlude.
Though winter waits offstage with all its lines
word-perfect, still a kind of summer shines.
The breeze feels older now, of muted mood,
not so disposed to boast its vital signs,
inclined to amble through the golden vines.

ARCTURUS TREASURE
Just standing in the handle of the dipper.
Drinking stars from inside her silver slipper.
The cup is buoyed up in ancient liquid light.
And Ursula tags a string upon her kindly kite.
Arcturus has flung the dipper far and high.
It rides the flow and surfs the starry sky.
The giant orange that spies the buxom bear.
Our secrets safe and kept as treasure there.
Upright to Milky Way it rips the canopy to scars.
And quickly moves against a slice of slippery stars.
Red glint that is polar to the stoic starry stream.
A visitor that flies within a deft diminutive dream.
Then in a blink or in a million years from now.
The red rust will break from our starry burnished bough.
A star no longer seen to ride a season by Ursula's urge.
Nor extend its dipper's handle in a splendid splurge.
A giant red that wore the bootes of heardsman all it's life.
And followed close to make the North Star a wondrous wife.
No Icarus to fly and melt in drawing hot while narrowing near
It's but a dying star yet keeps melodic magic sung in echoes ear.

Arcturus Hub
Arcturus by the milky way,
5th dimension players Grey,
central hub of our galaxy
most advanced of all our neighbours sit,
multi light years, just a bit,
from which their Starships flit,
too advanced, to coin a phrase.

The Revelers
A tilt of the head
and there's a universe
never seen before in time and space,
and passing strange—it's boiling hot,
contemptuous in its familiarity,
for though the slate is new,
it mocks the mind and speaks
of high adventure, Mondrian upon the wall,
the queen of age enlightening...
that fresh page, a ship at anchor,
tugging at the post to sail
before the morning's past.
Do you feel it?
Can you breathe the air
Arcturus saw when you were born,
and passes on afresh— stirred anew
this time around with one
forgotten eyelash?
And, do the changes
thunder in your heart?
We are the revelers,
the chasers of the dawn,
who from our beds may joyfully
engage Leviathan, or rage
upon black flowers of the night
that dare to cast their shadow
on the day.

HUNTER STARS
Fears half-hid behind curtain, faces sallow,
Two small kids shivering at the cold open window.
We look trembling at the stars across the black -
A thousand guys in the dark searching for our track,
Each with tiny red or yellow flashlight -
Steady, pulsing, dim, or bright.
Brighter ones are closer - in groups or alone;
Far-off ones are completely unknown.
Special guys like Antares or Arcturus
Spinning, searching in circles around us.
Big fellows like the Hunter Orion
Getting closer with dogs Sirius and Procyon :
Sometimes they can’t see us for cloud,
Can’t hear us as we bravely whisper aloud
‘You tiny hunters don’t scare us ; you’ll run
In the morning when you see our sun.’

moons see clearly
that the stars are so
far away
from each other
like you and I
we have very
different ideas
about all this
solar systems apart
not even in
the same galaxy
you made that clear to
me tonight
and I can barely
see your Red Giant
shining from here
on my
White Dwarf
it's a pity
space is cold
