I'm just an old-fashioned, flannel lumberjack shirt.
My father was some overalls, a farmer of dirt.
I'm a worn out and holey pair of cotton socks,
An unwanted sweater, packed away in a box.
My son's a fancy ascot living in New York City.
He can't be cut from the same cloth, he's too pretty -
A button down shirt, a jacket of fine leather,
A whole different sort of men's wear, altogether.
I'm aged pair of wing-tips, no longer employed,
Split along the sides, by overwork, nearly destroyed,
Living in the shiny black dress shoe memories of
Backless gowns, diamonds, stilettos and satin gloves.
I'm a quiet and unassuming pair of jeans,
A t-shirt with a picture of natural scenes,
A pair of rubber sandals, and a worn out straw hat,
A beachcomber, escaping the race of the rat.
I'm shorts on the way to the laundry in a sack,
An old hat that's traveled around the world and back.
Though I may have a loose thread that needs a snip,
Still, this hat gives life an appreciative tip.

When your body has had enough of me,
when we're both exhausted flat out on the floor,
when you think I've loved you all I can,
I'm going to love you just a little bit more.

Appreciative
Six o`clock
In the morning
Is the best time
To get up when it is summer
Stay on the terrace
Inhale the air
Before it gets hot
Make a coffee
Just being alive
Elderliness is to be grateful
For little things

Be appreciative
Generate more harmony
The scenery will change
Live life completely
Time will fade
Moments become a memory
Take the world by storm
Rise up with endless energy

I WAS APPRECIATIVE OF MY CORNET.
(Northern dialect)
I went to the ice cream man on the corner for me, me friend and me Nan.
I got two cornets and a wafer with nougat in, for me Nan.
I remember it being hot that day cause me ice cream melted down me hand.
We sat at front of nans house, me, me friend and me Nan, just watching passers-by, lads playing football on the street, what a day, eeeee, it wer grand.
Me with me cornet ice cream dripping down me hand and me Nan with a nougat wafer which looked massive in her hand.
But me I was appreciative of my cornet, I didn’t begrudge me Nan.
Because when I grow older I’ll have a nougat wafer, and me grand kids will understand.

Earthen figs, blooming soil
with leaves stiff leather fanned and bright
Green desire, invisible sky
with white cloud shadows in the whites of my eyes
Papaya pulp, caviar seeds
like the swollen thoughts of summer trees
Warm the skin, juice the chin
like orange blood from sea urchin seas
Breath of lungs, sun begins
to saturate kidneys and mush the mind
Braided fern, dragonfly dance
to float the air with swirling shine
Hazel eyes, chameleon turn into
what strikes their fancy on whims of light
Trap this moment, bottle the earth
What a gift, what a feast for my appreciative eyes...
