The last resort of the department store
Purchasing my bones in the flesh
Native thorns contempting robes
Reciprocities without enough city
Familiar silvers behind glass windows
Tracking of least haunted strain
Fellow of coal
Liberty absconds the brazen doors of eden
Bludgeoning heart muscle of castings lapse
Strung letting of hummingbirds pain
Calling froth of tomorrow
Beastly hauling of coppered stones
Blanks of tomb
Witched at birth

Death, Sin’s Wages
Written: by Tom Wright
6/16/2018
For the pleasures of sin,
God requires retribution.
Sin’s wages is death,
Without God’s absolution;
The only solace that comes,
Is from God through prayer;
Of this there’s no hour,
When we’re found unaware;
Our struggles may be many,
Perhaps even failing health;
As time pilfers our ability,
It absconds with our wealth.

Time draws us closer
If we salute social partners
Who bless our lives, eliminating any stressor
From the corners
Where time creates quality time
To share
To climb to the prime
Level of the care
We disperse and dispense
In the interaction
Whose essence
Consolidates affection
In words, in actions
Deliberately meant
To invite benedictions
In every second spent
Strengthening ties
Within friendships
Where lies and spies
Sail in the opposite direction in ships
Whose poison
Far from the centre
Where treason
Gets no chance to enter
In a bid to plant seeds
Whose germination
Multiplies feeds and weeds
That trample affection
Underfoot
Increasing the chasm
Whose right or left foot
Sparks a spasm whose sarcasm and cytoplasm
Weakens bonds
Meant to grow from strength to strength
As evil absconds
To its full breadth and length
Signifying the rebirth
A partnership
Deserves beyond the birth
It witnesses in discipleship and fellowship
As every chime
Time sounds
Spurs a climb
To the next relationship rounds on gregarious grounds.

5 dimes rest on the cafe counter top
Left behind by a visitor who dined
Waitresses must honor pancake wishes
As they disappear into the kitchen
Swinging doors slam hard behind
The Greasy Spoon makes dishes fly
Coins are unattended at this moment
Priscilla is the locale hobo burglar girl
In need of soap & water and free coffee
At this time she requires dimes
5 would suffice to buy some time
She hides beneath a filthy scarf
Commits the deed with slippery fingers
A well practiced cough as a distraction
Absconds with fifty cents and then gets caught
Officer Flynn is the long arm of the law
Sees everything hidden in the dark
Priscilla learns a valuable lesson about free coffee
It taste much better after being arrested
Compliments of tax payers and the prison system
I would go as far as to say delicious!

Nine o’clock dark
Stage for shark swim
Deep arc stakeout
Sailors phishing
Not squaring news
Sparing no one
Once debutante
Vessel vaunt sinks
For daunt of men
Dawns a new day
Silent gray-blue
Sea fray absconds

Haphazard chaos became the norm.
Attention Deficit Disorder brought the storm
Throw in a little hyperactivity and boys.
Rip roaring commotion and a disarray of toys.
Every action challenged serenity.
Drama pierced peaceful woodlands rowdily.
Never did their pain elicit such hatred.
Every shout was hurtful, unthinking, and mean.
Vulnerability increased; love lost its sheen.
Endless name-calling wrought two boy’s punches.
Respectable young brothers forgot to love.
Family split asunder by parental blunder.
Excruciating pain filled their children’s brain.
Love was offered; rejection brought hate.
The children cried; victims of the state.
Social services skillfully dismantled parental bonds.
Ordering a gambit of activities; family love absconds.
Guilty or not, it did not matter; love was marked.
Opportunity to hate had opened every door.
Ordinarily, the boys had been happy and respectful.
Dismantled; hatred never felt so good.

Big crowd gathering,
Street mime motions;
Silence speaks loud
By this bench,
Mall-side pavilion;
Busy feet greet
Shoppe sales,
Brisk human traffic;
Up sell more stuff
City mall heat,
Air-con breakdown;
Sweaty auras
Fauna and flora,
Wild flowers bloom;
Singing in the rain
Lovely lovebirds:
Octopus tentacles;
Shyness absconds
Morning psalm
Sparrow songbird;
Balcony recital
Window view slant
Bamboo pines sway;
Dancing in the breeze
Traffic jam horde
To conquer the world;
Financial district
Hospital visit,
Sick relative;
Laughter prescribes
Slow motion fumbles,
Ageing constellations;
Dementia flowering

Awakening to the scent left of you
in haze of incandescent light
your form still imprinted in my sheets
your perfume still on my pillows...
I remember you spooning next to me
with your sultry satin smile
love that blossomed into magical moments
our souls united and conjoined...
And when the nights are torn asunder
I recall the scent of your hair
my soul the seed and you the planter
out of the ground into celestial sky..
Missing you more than I thought I would
haunted by the ghost of you
your silhouette caressed by moonlight
the smell of your perfume that lingers..
The enchanting kisses and fevered touch
spirits that bewitched and bemoaned
making love under licorice sheets
ghost of you in gown of blue and gray...
Often I awaken next to your ghost
ghost that absconds souls like precious gems
and for a singular second we dance and embrace
then you disappear into a falling star..

“The storm has truly unleashed its full fury,”
The perfectly coiffured, newswoman says.
She is not worried about the low taste
Of purloining these old and outdated clichés.
Over and over the same words repeated,
Until sensitive folks shut the set off and leave
To pick up a volume of favorite poems.
Each knows in these pages, he’ll find a reprieve.
No good poet absconds with the words of another
To blatantly claim them as his thoughts alone.
He edits, revises and often will change them
Until he is proud of a work all his own.
It is only then he’ll unleash his creation
On eager readers to critique or to laud.
Praying the ayers will out weigh the nayers,
He’ll happily bow as they cheer and applaud.

Impervious to love or hate, trapped beneath the skin
A symptom, fluid token with the temptation of sin
For lust reacts such potently, a blazing whiter flame
Destroys the heart and soul, the carcass burnt and maimed
Hate is an emotion, a reaction, a disease
Can be cured, can be forgiven, emits when you bleed
Far end of the spectrum is love and fluff and trust
There's cutesy bunny rabbits and reams of fairy dust
Between the black and whitened points, the flying and the falls
There lies the venom, there lies you, most dangerous of all
An eclipse of uncertainty and narrowing of eyes
Analysing, scrutinizing truth between the lies
Then only speak the careful words you think they want to hear
Dispose of them as delicate sweet nothings on deaf ears
Emotions are exaggerated, bi-polar and confused
Absconds at your most vulnerable, ensures you feel abused

Lone Wolf…
He is the irony unto his lonesome self
Thrust upon this world
A cub youngling
He absconds from family
In search of something else
The Lone Wolf…
A spirit found, a spirit lost
Travails path of storm and wind
Looking and seeking
The nomad hunter without friends
Loneliness the only cost
A Lone Wolf…
Forever bearing the intensity of heart
Burning into mind’s eye
Sardonic is his never knowing
Consequence of playing part
Lone Wolf…
Finding refuge within darkness…
From fast approaching storms
But, sanctuary from his own madness…
Found only in brashness and honor
Of the soul that roams
The Lone Wolf…
Like the undiscovered serpent of the sea…
The soaring eagle
Longs only to be free
But instinct his jailer
And hunger his need
A Lone wolf…
A vanishing vagrant into long drawn shadows…
Woodlands of a twilight sun
Pursuing fresh quarry scents
Unsullied mate she wolves natal young’s
Lone Wolf…
His lonesome irony abets in its return
As nights timber penumbras tumble forth…
A semblance of spectral sirs
Whelps of innocence from the night to the lunar lights…
Do not go unheard

Still straying in the dark I ponder
I was just a renegade in wonder
All was wrong, and time in haste
Life was stuck and all a waste
Still fuming in my thoughts, I hurt
I was just another soul that’s lost
Now I’m in harm and tears have come
The soul will calm then peace will horn
The wind will blow as strong as storm
And thunder rolls as lion in roar
Now sun abounds with much delight
The dark absconds like fall of night
Grace now drops like rain in spring
Mercy now soars like eagles with wing
Angels rejoice like a mother with child
Spirit abides like the ocean with tide

The verve of sensation and stylish variety-
Moves deeper inside where the rage of my heart
Defines my displeasure, yet tears me apart
To know what remains is derisive to fantasy.
And perfection is seen as exclusive not mine,
But this, unobtainable nightmare surveys
The pangs of anxiety my frustration plays;
And thwarted still further in search for divine.
As Goddess of Dance you have tip-toed or two
Performing a solo where dances and dreams,
Prepare me an ending that waking up seems
Like death as it is, and I’m losing you too.
Visiting promise to find you're not there.
Is love's great despair just a vanishing act?
It loyally behaves but I'm dying in fact
Devoting this love to a trance anywhere.
It absconds to a Waterford crystal mirage
As Lord of the Dance in a sequel to this,
The moment I wake isn't one I should miss
Proposing to fit into her entourage.
