Sometimes I don't wear my glasses,
Sit beside the window, the glasses on my lap,
And the familiar world looks unfamiliar!
It's dawn right now, it's almost Fall.
The sky is cloudy today, very dull,
Lawn is still green, trees and bushes did not change their colours yet,
A crane which stands beside the skyscrapers in the distant,
looks less monstrous, a sillouette in the horizon.
In my glassless eyes, evergreens in the far look hazy,
Even the grey skyscrapers seem less intimidating
With a few lights here and there, blinking.
It's Wednesday, garbage trucks are passing,
Stopping at every corner, extending the mechanical hand to pick up trash.
To my blurry eyes, that action seems soothing!
A few cars left in the driveways like abandoned children!
A lady, in a hurry, getting in,
in the driver's seat, and zooming away!
Sometimes I like to watch the outside world this way -
Through the frame of my rectangular window,
Like a watercolour painting -
Hazy, blurry, indistinct!
As still as night, her heart aghast,
she pondered of her fellow's fairing,
for word had spread of his capture.
She dreamt of blooming meadows past,
as butterfly spies enrapture
lunch baskets and laughter sharing.
Alas, now shadows are glaring.
A fugitive, she never knew,
throughout each lovely rendezvous,
a swindler with another life
abandoned children and a wife!
Disheartening, the aftermath!
Lo, upon their cobblestone path,
a sennight long, tears filled a bath.
Then yonder from the fog he came,
with perplexing news to proclaim.
From a journey far he'd returned,
and all the while his bowels churned,
consoling greiving family,
yearning for her like no other.
The outlaw that she thought was he,
was his long estranged twin brother!

We need orphanages.
So abandoned children can be cared for,
receive three hot meals a day, be helped
with their homework.
We need orphanages to be
Quiet places where children can think.
Away from loud angry music
And loud angry adults who abandon them
in spirit, and attitude way before they
are physically abandoned,
We need orphanages
Where adults can help children
Learn how to be children.
We need orphanages
Where children don't have to take care of their parents.
Where children don't have to fix their own supper.
Where children don't have to worry about being evicted,
where children don't squat in unheated abandoned buildings.
We need orphanages
Where children aren't threatened if they tell the truth.
We need orphanages for the abandoned children, so
they can safely grow up.
We need orphanages.

If I could put into words what I think and feel
It would be a never ending story, and I would not heal.
So I will write just what’s on my mind today.
For that won’t take too much away.
I’m thinking of all the children of the world
Who don’t have a roof above their head
Not even a soft tender bed.
Their beds are just papers thrown on the ground
They cry to themselves without making a sound.
The pain in their hearts no one can feel
They survive in the streets and learn how to steal.
Abandoned by the ones who brought them into this world
Is this the life for any boy or girl.
No food for them to eat, a candy bar is a treat.
No clean water for which to bathe
Now that is a crying shame.
These abandoned children , create abandoned children
for they know no other way.
And for their safety to the LORD I do pray.
besprizorniki
roaming the streets of Russia
no mamas to love
bereft of humanity
a million beating hearts sigh
