When You Experience a Poem Potw

The world twirls and spins There's all that axis stuff It makes sense to some people I can't tell if I stand still, staring Or tumble and fall I see so clearly sometimes The meaning of life - in an instant Felt. Electricity buzzes Proximity means something Then the void of not that I'll slip into sleep now Safe in my bed To ponder the world again tomorrow For I'm a poet, we do that Shaping words To be made sense of by another And that, in and of itself - is joy Lived in and occupied joy It's like, you're at the seaside Your hand is taken and the poet says "Run barefoot with me, feel the sand and the sea" And you feel everything, but it's just a moment Felt by your whole self Then you're a sock and shoe wearer Not at the beach at all And memories mix with imagination Just like that axis stuff It's tricky to understand

I missed this one, Dilly but congratulations on having it recognized as potw. Running barefoot on the sand never bores me.

Congratulations Dilly on POTW, your poem resonates with many here, those fleeting moments we experience, that somehow the universe around us makes perfect sense, not in the physical, but in the abstract, then we try put into words what just happened, you have a special gift in capturing and expressing these moments, another accolade you can be proud of, well done cheers David

Many congratulations Dilly on POTW - very well deserved. Loved reading this poem. I love the line,’ To ponder the world again tomorrow’. I read it several times quite reflectively. I love the image by the seaside as well. There’s no end to a poet’s imagination and self expression - one of the finest art forms I feel. Enjoy your celebratory day - or week! Hugs and smiles :):)

Thank you Christina, very kind! It really was something I wrote and posted in less than 5 minutes before I went to sleep. But I have spent many an hour pondering the immersive nature of poetry. It fascinates me how that connection with a poem really has no basis on what everyone thinks is a good poem - sometimes you are just swept into it and it's beautiful, then you snap back into reality! I appreciate your thoughtful comment x

Shaping words to embrace the imagination, or every moment and emotion within. So easy to understand, indeed. Writing brings poetry to life, in so many ways. Congratulations Dilly, on Poem of the Week. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

Congratulations on Poem of the 'WEEK' DD! Oh, the imaginary line that passes through both the North Pole and South Pole, if it's a degree off, we're screwed! I too feel your poetry, enjoy the honor! :)

Congratulations on your POTW honor, Dilly! A good explanation of what's going on in a poet's head and life. It's a good life. Enjoy your week of recognition, my friend. Bill

A sculptor was asked at the unveiling of his "Stallion in Full Gallop" ...."how did you do it?". His response: "I just chipped away everything that didn't look like a stallion in full gallop. Such is the realm of Poetry and poets...nicely done DD

an outstanding write...beautifully composed...a poem that captures the essence of what poets do...and how those who read poetry are only temporarily experiencing what the poet set out to describe...they feel everything for a moment but they're only"sock and shoe wearers...not at the beach at all." I'm in awe and am faving this. Congrats on Poem of the Week!
