The tree. in its outspoken glory will strive to tell its verdant story Not only of its silent beauty yet of its might and silent duty As history unfolds before it with majesty, it can’t ignore it So quietly, it watches men who make the same mistakes again If only in its steadfast post the words of what it knows could host The world of knowledge it could share discovered just by standing there

Hi Mike, Trees are like giants, fir and oak trees come to mind. Imagine all the historical events and stories that they could tell us as they whisper and talk through their leaves in a breeze. Maybe if would listen we could hear them - a fairy tale belief. And imagine if they could warn man of his follies so that he doesn't repeat them again and again, love your poems Mike always powerful, or oh so sweet and cute. Blessings and hugs Jennifer.

Beautifully written Mike. Trees silently do their duty and stand proud and inviting everyone's attention. It is when we think that without them, there is no existence for man, that we come to brood over the importance of trees. I missed this. Congratulations on your POTD

I love this piece, Mike. I am very fortunate these days to live in an apartment complex that has a multitude of various kinds of trees. It always does my heart good to look out my living room window and see them. Congrats on POTD, as well.

this prompted me to look up a poem from Grammar school..."Woodman, Spare that Tree" George Morris. They have cut so many old trees around the City of Boston in recent years...ya hate to see them go.
