Sorry I can't make this bigger. THis was my dear Ollyver, a miniature Eskimo dog whose unconditional love was the greatest I ever experienced from any living being.
“Even in your absence, there is hope my friend.
On that rainbow bridge we’ll meet to love and play again.” M. Morris
It’s at the Rainbow Bridge I wait for you,
dear human friend; my love for you is deep.
You were my only friend. You know that’s true.
Each memory inside my soul I keep.
As I wait here, I think about each time
I followed you around the house and when
you petted me. Dear friend, it was sublime!
I’d lick you in return as we lay then
in sweet contentment, and how well you know
I would protect you. I too had no fears.
while with you. When to Slumber Land you’d go,
I’d be there too and each night for ten years!
You’d leave four days a week. I don’t know why.
Where did you go those days? Where did you roam?
I wished to be with you. I’d almost die
from my excitement when you came back home.
In my ten fun-filled years with you, I’d learn
so many things about you. At the door
I learned to wait each night for your return.
You’d enter, and I’d jump up from the floor.
You’d catch me in your arms. For you alone
I did that trick. You loved it. I could tell.
You gave me treats and once - a plastic bone.
That toy, unlike my others, was not swell!
But mostly you got everything just right -
the walks we took together and the food
you let me lick from your plate every night
(though I could tell some people thought it crude!)
Your mate and children thought that I was bad.
I barked at passersby. They’d yell at me.
But mostly I believe I made YOU glad.
I’m very sure I did. Don’t you agree?
One night I went to sleep, but I did not
awaken to your voice or smiling face.
To Rainbow Bridge my spirit somehow got.
Come for me, Friend. I wait for your embrace!
