What to Submit?
1 original, NEW, ONE SENTENCE free verse poem.
Rules
- Poem MUST be only a single sentence (no compound sentences and certainly no comma-spliced sentences).
- The title of your poem should be "Of {your topic}"
- e.g. "Of Waffles" if your poem is about waffles.
- Your poem/sentence MUST start with "{your topic} is/are" and then explain the essence of the object of your poem.
- e.g. Waffles are the
checkerboard of breakfast
upon which lie armies
of blueberry and syrup.
- Please date your poem

Of Perception
Perception is that
intricately painted
canvas of reality
which has been
crudely painted over
with our fears
and expectations.
Rankings will be based on
- How well the poem reads
- Following the contest guidelines
- Flow (not prose)
- Spelling and Grammar
- Creativity (surprise me with your topic or approach)
- My subjective opinion (this is implied with all contests, I make rules to be as objective as possible)

Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
