Premiere Contest WinnerOf Sorrow

Sorrow is

the night’s rainstorm

lashing an impoverished psyche

wandering lost with loss

‘neath weeping eaves in murky-minded alleyways

without an umbrella.

Love the strong brevity of this insightful piece on sorrow. The imagery of being rain caught without an umbrella is so relatable. Metaphors of sorrow that pack a punch. Best wishes always. Brian

Susan, this was such a powerful and emotive depiction of sorrow. It is one of very few poems that I moved to the winner's round immediately upon reading it the first time. "... without an umbrella." so perfectly captures the topic of your poem. Congratulations on your 1st place finish!

So deep and powerful depiction of sorrow! A profound heart.. open wide is its gate.. of many a chamber.. able to absorb and fathom the gloomy side of life and render it in a captivating artistry to an ardent reader whose pleasure to read your grand poetry would never expire.. an other gem, of yours dear Susan, to cherish into my fave list. To tell the truth, I already forgot what I wrote in my previous comment. It seemed to be something about a night rainy walk in the company of such wonderful poets as Susan and Robert. I confirm my wish and I am even ready to leave my umbrella at home if the poetic situation requires it) These beautiful windy sadness and broken hearts belong together. Wishing you gold in contest. Rays of love.

Ah, dear Kurt, thank you for returning to replace your touching comments I accidentally deleted. Your new comments are equally moving and beautifully poetic... a walk in the rain with you and Robert would be wonderful. Who knows, maybe broken hearts in windy sadness would end up singing in the rain instead. You inspire me my dear friend. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan
