Eternity is the eager but infertile earth that we plant our seeds of love and heaven and promise in with the knowledge that they will never blossom. ~ 3rd Place ~ in the "One Sentence Metaphor in Free Verse" Poetry Contest, Jesse Rowe, Judge & Sponsor.

It's very profound and beautiful, Greg. But not very optimistic. Kind of like my fight with prolia. Congrats on a marvelous win.

Gregory, congratulations on your 3rd place finish in my contest. While I may disagree on your interpretation of eternity, the substance of your poem was quite captivating. I see eternity as quite inevitable. We perhaps plant our seeds with the *hope that they will *forever bloom. This poem has layers of meaning that took me a few readings to dig into. This made each reading more enjoyable.

- When you talk about eternity, Gregory ... will it mean timelessness (?) - What happens ...is what happens ... neither more ... nor less ... - but, I hope there are blooming flowers ... - one great and thoughtful metaphorical line ... luck in the contest :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Is this saying because death is imminent? I love the presentation.

That works for me, Kim! My direct thoughts at the time were that forever has no meaning because there is no way to quantify it, there is no way to prove there IS such a thing, and someday, EVERYthing will end, (entropy). Also, see my poem from a couple of days ago called "Magnificent Myth". But, as with ANY poem, it can mean whatever you want it to! Thank you so much for the comment, my friend! :o) <3
