Welcome to my page!

I am a man of many interests - TOO many, I think, lol - and because of that I never gave writing the attention I should have when I was young. I started writing poetry in December of 2016, and joined Poetry Soup at the same time. I am currently working on an R&B/Soul album for a major label, so, as has usually been the case, poetry does not get the time I'd like to give it, (though I plan to change that in the future, and write a book-or-two, a sci-fi novel and an autobiography) ...

I like to incorporate classic styles and phrasing into a modern frame when I write poetry, and try to cover a wide range of genres, but I enjoy the darkly sensual the most, despite its limited audience. I hope you'll give my rather unusual style a chance, read a piece-or-two, and leave a comment, if you'd be so kind. I also hope you'll visit my music web site as well, (at the following address under my moniker "Bahku") - mostly (very) old recordings there, but also a snippet of the first single coming, and more new stuff soon!

Sound Of Sense

* I am probably the most fallible and "human" human being that I know, hence, I have to remind myself from time-to-time what I'm truly "about", and ALL I'm about is fighting hatred. Before I say or do ANYthing, I put it through a filter: will it harm or hurt anyone or anything in ANY way? If the answer is "maybe" or "yes", I refrain, (or TRY to). I see a lot of hatred around me of late, from all sides and directions, and I think it's a good time to share this poem. *

SOUND OF SENSE

Say what you will, and make it great,
But if you're speaking words of hate ...

          I won't listen.

Make your argument, stirred or calm,
But said with words that hurt or harm ...

          I won't listen.

Write your thoughts for all to see,
But if penned with animosity ...

          I won't listen.

Speak the truth, and speak it loud,
But if you're with the hateful crowd ...

          I won't listen.

Deliver your message, strong and true,
But if it's vitriol you spew ...

          I won't listen.

Your opinions may be all the best,
But if they fail the malice test ...

          I won't listen.

I know you want to change the world,
But if insults are the words you've hurled ...

          I won't listen.

You may have wisdom that's quite profound,
But if spoken from a vicious ground ...

          I won't listen.

                    YET ...

If you shake the hatred FREE,
And speak with sound integrity ...

          I ... WILL ... listen ...

For you and I can save our race,
If we just speak kindly, face-to-face ...

          And LISTEN.

Great poem in many ways, Greg. Wish I had noticed it and your blog sooner. You are amazing. Unrelated to this poem, would like to hear more about your R&B stuff. I liked the sound on the bahku site. Maybe you'll say more on your blog sometime.

Keith, the poet in question melted a long time ago and is actually the one who is sick and hateful. Coming onto a blog which promotes peace with warped and hateful opinions is proof. You have the power to block him Greg and save us from it all.

My mom said, no need to demean others if you do not think yourself perfect. If you think yourself perfect, you mom is here to correct you on such arrogant foolishness! As son in a thousand years you'd only be further away from it! I never forget that lesson. We all make mistakes and at times walk a crooked and dark road.. Great blog- great poem....

I read and listen to words of beauty.. I read and listen to words dripping with love and kindness to Humanity.. the other words have no colour and taste.. I just walk away from them not even worth a glance from my soul.. if we just do not listen to them.. do not argue with what stain us.. there will be peace, respect and Love! Great message in a so beautiful and impressive poem, Gregory! Thank you so much for sharing and spreading Beauty! My deepest regards and blessings.
