Gregory Richard Barden Biography

Welcome to my page!

I am a man of many interests - TOO many, I think, lol - and because of that I never gave writing the attention I should have when I was young. I started writing poetry in December of 2016, and joined Poetry Soup at the same time. I have a new book "Melancholy Moon" published by Wheelsong Books UK and I'm under contract for two more, the next (much darker) before Christmas. I am also currently working on an R&B/Soul album for a major label, so, as has usually been the case, poetry does not get the time I'd like to give it ...

I like to incorporate classic styles and phrasing into a modern frame when I write poetry, and try to cover a wide range of genres, but I enjoy the darkly sensual the most, despite its limited audience. I hope you'll give my rather unusual style a chance, read a piece-or-two, and leave a comment, if you'd be so kind. I also hope you'll visit my music web site as well, (at the following address under my moniker "Bahku") - mostly (very) old recordings there, but also a snippet of the first single coming, and more new stuff soon!

Gregory, thanks for this heartfelt, honest, & spot-on piece. I agree that we should never forget the unprovoked horrors, vicious murders (including of hundreds of truly innocent children), & pure EVIL perpetrated against our USA Constitutional Republic & thousands of actual Americans & their families on 9/11/2001, but I fear too many Americans ARE forgetting this horrible, criminal, sinful attack on all of us. Thanks for your important reminder, especially on the 25th anniversary. To all U.S. first responders, veterans, active-duty military, & those Americans who perished, may we always remember their service, honor their memories, & earn their sacrifices. Blessings & very best, Bartholomew

You my friend have managed to create a masterpiece on that tragic and deadly disaster inflicted by murderous and crazy fanatics. Your verses show the dark ness and the return of the Light in-- " the heavens wept" verse. As Heaven did weep and so did milions of us. Some to never forget. Brilliant.. A fav..

Watching events unfold on TV just didn't seem real, a tragic accident someone said then when the second plane struck they realised it was terrorism. How someone could commit such an evil act is beyond me. That day the world changed forever and the threat of terrorism hasn't gone away, we must be forever vigilant. May the poor souls who lost their lives on that horrific day rest in peace. Tom

Excellent poem, Greg. Like Brian says, it was momentous, for me too, like the death of Kennedy and Martin Luther King!
