Thought I better get round to writing a bit about myself.

I'm married and live on the Isle of Man

My poetry journey began in November 2013 after my husband was diagnosed with cancer. The first poem I wrote was called was Splendid Isolation. This was written after we returned to the Isle of Man after his surgery in England. I felt so alone and vulnerable in the accommodation - all I really needed was someone to talk to face to face and maybe have a hug! I posted a few poems on a friends facebook page - mainly humerous poems . An on-line friend Jenny Brewer saw my poems and kept telling me to join here. It took about 3 weeks of her asking me if i had joined to pluck up the courage to finally post and 'Just Desserts' was the first poem I posted here - it is based on a true experience! Since then my life has been a whirl. In Jared Pickett's collaboration I teamed up with Darren Watson and we wrote together collaboratively as JaDazzle United.

I adore penguins - the animals not the biscuits!
Loveeeee tall men with greying hair
I love baking/cooking
I like to potter in the garden - need more time to commit to it but have an aged mother who needs me more than my garden does
Adore most types of music - will give anything a listen
Best ever gig - Knebworth 1986 when 'Queen' headlined

I had a fall in the street yesterday resulting in a bruised ego, swollen hand and broken finger which will be strapped up for about 6 weeks. I am a touch typist so now have to use 1 finger which is very frustrating and time consuming.

Jan, I am so sorry about your sore fingers. I hope you have terrific pain pills, and I hope you are not afraid to use them. Sleep heals almost as well as anything else. Rest, and get well. I think angels are surrounding you, Jan. I feel you will heal quite quickly.

I am taking pain killers and anti inflammatory pills. Just so frustrated at hubby having to do the simplest things for me:-( will be about 6 weeks before I get the strapping off:-( hugs jan xx

Good Morning Jan. I am very sorry for your pain. I have experienced this and still do and know the frustration and the limitations. Make sure not to overuse your hands to keep the pain level and inflammation level down. Have a wonderful day.

Thanks Lisa, I see the fracture clinic tomorrow. I'm amazed at the swelling and bruising on the hand the fingers that are not strapped resemble fat sausages but I would have bruised them when i fell, I did think one of them was also broken but its just badly bruised. i see the fracture clinic tomorrow:-) hugs Jan xx

I'm going stir crazy and it's only day 3 lol just frustrating not to be able to do even simple tasks - hubby was out last night, i had to get a neighbour to open my jar of pickle lol:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks my friend, it could have been much worse in so many ways:-) It's an inconvenience more than anything and made me realise how much we take for granted because we do it automatically:-) hugs Jan xx

You poor dear! I hope it wasn't a busy street that scared you even more after the scary fall. You are most sweet to let all know your current typing condition, but more importantly is your perfect healing. Any chance there's a limerick in this 'happening' somewhere? Focus on healing and staying calm, please. You didn't say if it was your primary hand, probably cause I'm thinking you used it to brace the fall. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. No worries. It was quiet, but a couple did offer help but as we were very close to our hotel hubby got me there. I was in shock and knew i'd broken something and not just the tea tray I'd just purchased to put my plants on - that went under me when I fell and was smashed. I was more annoyed about that lol. I am lucky it's my left hand so I can still write and type just slowly with the typing. I posted a limerick yesterday - its called 'braless' lol:-) hugs Jan xx

hubby has been a gem and with me all the time - 2 hospital visits in 12 hours - the second one was when we got back to the island and i had the hand cleaned re xrayed and strapped up as i wasnt happy with the way it was initially dealt with as the wound wasnt even cleaned of the grit i fell on, am sore but it could have been much worse:-) hugs jan xx
