Thought I better get round to writing a bit about myself.

I'm married and live on the Isle of Man

My poetry journey began in November 2013 after my husband was diagnosed with cancer. The first poem I wrote was called was Splendid Isolation. This was written after we returned to the Isle of Man after his surgery in England. I felt so alone and vulnerable in the accommodation - all I really needed was someone to talk to face to face and maybe have a hug! I posted a few poems on a friends facebook page - mainly humerous poems . An on-line friend Jenny Brewer saw my poems and kept telling me to join here. It took about 3 weeks of her asking me if i had joined to pluck up the courage to finally post and 'Just Desserts' was the first poem I posted here - it is based on a true experience! Since then my life has been a whirl. In Jared Pickett's collaboration I teamed up with Darren Watson and we wrote together collaboratively as JaDazzle United.

I adore penguins - the animals not the biscuits!
Loveeeee tall men with greying hair
I love baking/cooking
I like to potter in the garden - need more time to commit to it but have an aged mother who needs me more than my garden does
Adore most types of music - will give anything a listen
Best ever gig - Knebworth 1986 when 'Queen' headlined

POOP POETRY CONTEST

Hi Soupers

As many of you may know I had a long break away from soup. The good news for me is I am back to writing again, my pen is no longer constipated and I am not suffering from Irritable Vowel Syndrome. I am focussing on getting my book self published this year.

I recently had a soup mail from a lovely souper who basically said Jan you had been away from the site for far too long and now you are back please will think about running a poop poetry contest.

I thought about it long and hard (for all of 5 seconds), and checked the logs to make sure a poop/farty contest is not currently running. This is a heads up that a limerick contest will be posted soon. Get your thinking caps on as I suspect the contest will fill quicker than a baby’s nappy!

To give you an idea of what I am looking for I have posted a poem called Foul Undercurrent.

Hmmm… I think I’ve missed something. ‘No contest details’ on contest entries? Are we to NOT name the contest in our entries? I’ve checked my emails and there’s nothing there. Let us know. Terry

Jan, the date does appear on the poems for the judges to see. It's at top left. I sure never noticed it before when judging contests but someone told me it had been there all along, so why was anybody always asking for dates on our poems? Did nobody notice the dates were already there?

Supposedly an e mail went out to everyone - but that obvious isn't the case. So it's No contest details on contests now - Premium members can note them in the poets notes section so if you dont stump up and pay there is no where for you to put them (unless you comment on your own poem) I like to date my poems its like my personal diary - personally i think the rule is as crap as some think my poop poetry is lol!

Your return to the Soup is long past overdue, and bathroom humor has been sorely lacking. Jan, you’ll have the backing of many friends and poop on those disgruntled few who find disdain in what you do. Let the limericks flow for your contest and good luck to those who write the best!
