Thought I better get round to writing a bit about myself.

I'm married and live on the Isle of Man

My poetry journey began in November 2013 after my husband was diagnosed with cancer. The first poem I wrote was called was Splendid Isolation. This was written after we returned to the Isle of Man after his surgery in England. I felt so alone and vulnerable in the accommodation  - all I really needed was someone to talk to face to face and maybe have a hug! I posted a few poems on a friends facebook page - mainly humerous poems . An on-line friend Jenny Brewer saw my poems and kept telling me to join here. It took about 3 weeks of her asking me if i had joined to pluck up the courage to finally post and 'Just Desserts'  was the first poem I posted here - it is based on a true experience! Since then my life has been a whirl.  In Jared Pickett's collaboration I teamed up with Darren Watson and we wrote together collaboratively as JaDazzle United.

I adore penguins - the animals not the biscuits!
Loveeeee tall men with greying hair
I love baking/cooking
I like to potter in the garden - need more time to commit to it but have an aged mother who needs me more than my garden does
Adore most types of music - will give anything a listen
Best ever gig - Knebworth 1986 when 'Queen' headlined

A giggle a day can chase the blues away

After a second podcast on 24th January on Manx Radio my book sales are going from strength to strength. The book is available on Amazon both in paperback and kindle formats and has sold in the UK, USA and Canada.  One Island resident loves the humour so much he has purchased 6 signed copies!

I am working with a journalist for an article about my poetry to be published in the local newspaper and I have been asked by a lady with severe sight issues to consider doing an audio book  ... with 366 poems this would be a big ask!

Happy reading

Hugs Jan xx

Wow, Jan, congratulations, and I am so overjoyed about the wonderful success you are having with your published book! Everyone loves a good laugh, and you certainly provide that very well with your awesome limericks. I purchased a copy and my hubby took it over and is enjoying all your poems very much. I will follow soon with an uplifting Amazon Review! Wishing you continued success! Hugs, Sandra ;)

Jan, congratulations on your success ! I am not surprised, and you are so right a giggle a day, a smile, chases away sadness. As you know my forte is sad poetry, and I know from poems you have written for my contests that you can write serious poetry just as well as you do your limericks. But funny poems are your forte so just follow your dreams, and be beautiful you, hugs, Constance

It really has been an amazing journey Linda and I have no intention of stopping lol:-) I have a lot to think about with an audio book, I may just record poems for the charity i volunteer at as I dont think it would be viable to have it commercially produced:-) hugs jan xx

That's great news, Jan. I'm sure you won't have a problem filling the pages of another book with your toilet humor.

Thanks Christina, who would have thought someone who wasn't a poetry fan back in 2013 would even pick up a pen let alone publish a book and I'm working on poopy poetry for book #2 but I won't be sharing the poems on soup:-) hugs jan xx

thanks Joanna:-) It has been a long journey with writing and eventaully getting ready to self publish the book. we did a lot of editing/ swapping poems about and formatting when my husband was having cancer treatment in October, it gave us something to focus on at night. from being a total novice to writing 10 years ago I am so so proud of what i have achieved. hugs jan xx

I’m so proud of you for bringing you dream to fruition, Jan. It was not an easy task, hindered by family health issues, but you were tenacious in seeing it though. Love and hugs, Sweet friend.
