FAVORITE MOVIE MOMENTS, PART II

Blog Posted by Tim Ryerson: 3/4/2014 7:05:00 AM
I got the idea for this blog from my good friend Monterey Sirak who just commented on the following tanka:

One Scene from One Movie

Wife yells out the door
"don't forget the cannoli
and DON'T BACK OVER THE KIDS!"

'Alright already!'
another day on the job
(gotta go murder some guy)

***Richard Costellano (Clemenza) in 'Leave the gun, take the cannoli' from The Godfather Part I, my all-time favorite movie

How bout you? No poem necessary of course and as always thanks in advance for reading and participating...

One favourite movie moment are the final scenes in 'Ice Cold in Alex', especially the look on Anthony Quale's face as he realises even enemies can be unexpected friends.

Tim, I see so many movies, like at least one new one a week but often more than that. So out of the thousands I have enjoyed, I honestly do not have a favorite. There is one movie that I adore. But I'd have to watch it again to realize what was said at the very end. If I have time to research that, I'll get back here with it! In the meantime, I will try to think of something else!!

From Cool Hand Luke - "What we've got here is failure to communicate." & In 'Harper', Paul Newman said,"The bottom is loaded with nice people,Albert.Only cream and bastards rise. "

yes and I think many in the movie clapped when he cut of the meter heads! [hey they aren't people!] it was a political statement - though now apparently the 'government?' decreed corporations as people so maybe meters are too now?

Hi again Tim. This blog is going to be fun! My favorite movie is To Sir With Love, with Sidney Poitier. I love the scene where the students are dancing in the gym at lunch time and Lulu (who plays Peg) tells one of the guys when he rudely attempts to dance with her that he can refer to her as Miss Peg and if he wants to dance "he can bloody well ask properly" Sir helped the girls to realize they were worthy and deserved the respect of others, and more importantly themselves. The facts of their economic or social status didn't play a part.

My oldest daughter is a teacher and was thinking about quitting out of frustration because of rowdy students and their parents not taking resposibility and blaming HER instead... I bought her that movie and she loved it too

I still play Lulu's song, it's one of my favorites. Love the ending, love the dance where the students show their love, love every minute of the movie! It is timeless. My kids were young teenagers when I found a copy and made them watch it amid groans and moans. The next day I came in from work and they had brought all their friends home and were showing To Sir With Love to everyone.

I also remember Lulu's song well. It hit the top of the charts in 1967...

Absolutely Monterey! I can't think of a scene in that movie I didn't enjoy...How bout the end of the movie when he wads up the other job offer and drops it in the trash can after the two students confront him? I have literally worn out that DVD...
