Robert James Liguori Biography

I am Robert James Liguori. I have authored several technical books including The Java Pocket Guide. I have spent twenty years in the aviation community doing software development and testing. Currently, I'm spending my time writing poetry trying to make a small, yet positive difference in this world... one word at a time.

Cheesesteak

In remembrance of my parakeet Cheesesteak I am sponsoring the poetry contest The Bruised Bird. Use the love sparks from your heart to engage your words into triumphant script that reflects on life of birds once lived. So often life takes a dangerous course and we have to do the best to cherish each day and moment we have. Stella, my black cat, did what she knew best defined by nature... but now my white and black parakeet with a feather on her right foot is gone. Inspire well folks... and as always I look forward to reading and judging your entries.

Sorry for your loss Robert. Our pets become family to us and losing them is as difficult because they become so cherished at heart. Hope this contest and the entries bring you comfort. I've never had a pet bird but I think I'll be inspired by you to write a poem about the love of birds. Sending warm thoughts.

Thank you Rob for your condolences. Cheesesteak would keep me company when I was on my laptop. She would sing all throughout the day. She was a very happy bird. I will be putting my birdcages to the curb tomorrow for trash pickup. I will not give Stella the opportunity to strike again. I tried to tell her she was bad; but I don’t think she was listening. She just does what cats do.

I looked up the lifespan of parakeets, depending on the type, it shows 5-20 years. My condolences concerning the loss of Cheesesteak.

Cheesesteak was around three years old. Stella stalked her for two years.
