Proud to be Human?

I don't live in London, I don't live in Manchester, I don't live in Warrington or any of the city centres that have been subject to bombings.

The truth is, in a way I also feel that if I was so deeply convinced by been brought up believing that the people who bombed my country and killed my friends and family were evil, I too might decide to take revenge.

I have no sympathy for people who kill and maim innocent people. I have no sympathy for governments who let atrocities go ignored and preach the righteousness of going to war when it fits in with their political objectives.

In the meantime, Africans, Americans, Jews, Palestinians and just about every nationality on the planet are killed, maimed, raped or tortured.

Proud to be human? Not at the moment, our species is the lowest of the low when it comes to reality. When will this madness stop... certainly not in our lifetime.

I write poetry, explaining that we are all responsible for how we behave and live in this world.... what an utter and complete waste of time! Not that I don't believe it, I just think most people are incapable of change.

What should we do, let the miserable be a misery, the happy be happy, killers kill, healers heal? Yes I suppose that just about sums it up.

Me, you can bomb me, insult me, kill my countrymen, but like most of us over here, I'll still enjoy life to the full.

What comes around, goes around, but when are we going to get off the bloody roundabout?

Ivor, horrible, awful things are happening all over the world every day we are always reading or seeing something that has happened somewhere and for myself, all I can do is live my life in peace and have compassion for all those suffering and dead in my country, yours and all the other places in this world

I found peace a long time ago when I came to the realization humanity was insane and my job as I saw it was not to be caught up in the insanity..Eventually we will destroy ourselves and nature will have another shot to create a more enlightened creature..

Am I proud to be Human, no I'm not. The Species that we have exterminated, and the others that quake when they breathe answer that question. For if we think of each other first, then we are totally ignorant to our peripheral. We're not a Species, we're a parasite in the greater picture of existence! My words are based on us as a Species, so don't bother retaliating that your Auntie is a kind old woman, Chowa ;-)

If under God's ( Kingdom = deserves a K ) kingdom government under Jesus Christmas will (Daniel 2:44; 7:13,14; Isaiah 2:2-4 et al) ? So what happens to all the animals that are included in this strategy of life under Father God, if even the ones mentioned in his Good Book?

The button will one day be pushed, lets wait and see. It's time to be born a Cockroach, for they will be one species that will survive, them and other insects. So next time we swat a fly, etc !!

If we behave correctly in society, we can be proud of ourselves individually. We don't need to widen it out to being "proud to be human".

I have no idea what happened there...I was replying on Kim's Comment! You are spot on... personal responsibility and the individual is everything. I am proud to be human and was just looking at where the collective is at the moment!

Thanks Kim, Actually I do believe that 'good' people will eventually triumph, it just seems such a shame that so many have to suffer in the process.

I understand what you are saying, Ivor. I don't understand the hatred. We are all human. So what if we are different in color, ethnicity, religious beliefs, etc. Why can't everyone see the humanness of everyone else? Why can't we agree to disagree and leave it at that? Why do these haters have to kill those who are different from them? They have no conscience and no soul. I believe they will pay an eternal price for their evil deeds, but until that day, the innocent suffer.

Humans were made in the image and likeness of God. Perhaps the word proud does not apply as it could be mistaken for pride...but to be made in the image and likeness of God ...is splendor.....

But I am definitely not proud to be part of a world that acts the way it does. Though I am not totally convinced Charles Darwin got it completely correct I can see the animal in a lot of us!
