Valentine For Life

It's strange the way destiny tends to unfurl
for I found me and married a lovely Welsh girl.
I knew when we met it was love at first sight
and 'Ivor and Joan' we felt just sounded right.

Although unlike some I gained no millionaire,
I'm the wealthiest person you'll find anywhere.
My teachers reports said "he could do better"
I did, on the day that I went out and met her!

From that day, and for life, I had found me a gem
whose love was the meaning for living and when
we both came together as husband and wife
it meant we’d be valentines for all of our life.

But much more than this I know it is true
that not only this lifetime we both have lived through
for our spirits are joined for eternity
as Soulmates and Valentines we always will be!

Love's blessing realized and told in an upbeat and grateful poem of appreciation. I enjoyed this very much ... CayCay

The first stanza of this one was edited by me after posting. I think this one was originally published in my book Ivor's Ramblings with its original rubish first stanza! Anybody who has a copy of my book will see how heavily edited most of my poetry is nowadays to get rid of old style writing. Though I have a few die hard stalwarts who say I should not be tampering with the originals! - I am trying to post quite a lot of new and previously unpublished poetry on soup though also.... Ivor
