One Face, Looking at A Million Mirrors...

Blog Posted:11/17/2007 9:25:00 AM
One everlasting night in Turkey, I moved along between the endless crowds of people in "Istiqlal" street, (In English, meaning Independence.) Happiness ate my heart out as I looked at the little kids waiting in turn to buy their cotton candy. I walked further and looked around at all the different faces surrounding me. I can vaguely remember the sight of two lovers standing still in the street, lost in each other's eyes. I can vaguely remember the sight of a young child helping his grandmother carry her shopping bags. I can vaguely remember the sight of teenage girls rushing into the shops to buy the prettiest of outfits. I can vaguely remember a lonely man walking with his face down to the ground. I can vaguely remember a teary - eyed beautiful lady with a bandana covering her bald head holding a pharmacy bag in one hand, and a note in the other while she weeps as she reads and rereads it. I can vaguely remember an old man selling cute little kittens for a living. Then I wondered, what could be going on in other streets? What could be going on in other countries? Suddenly, the truth slapped me right in the face. Could it be?! Could it be that a bit of every person around me is actually, a part of me? Yes, for when I feel jealousy, it is not different than the one a middle - aged man in France feels while he stares at his true love laugh with another man. When I feel triumph, it is not different than the one a 9 year old in Mexico feels after winning his first soccer match. When I feel confusion, it is not different than the one a 15 year old in Syria feels when having to choose between her divorced parents. When I feel defeat, it is not different than the one a major football fan in America feels after his team loses the finals. When I feel freedom, it is not different than the one Sufis in Turkey feel as they move round and round in circles of joy to express their love to God. When I feel pain, it is not different than the one a woman in Palestine feels after losing her dear child in war. When I feel sadness, it is not different than the one an old man in Lebanon feels after watching his precious country get destroyed by the greedy hands of the foolish. When I feel rage, it is not different than the one a single - parent in Canada feels after having to deal with life by her own. When I feel regret, it is not different than the one a father in Brazil feels after finding that he has lung cancer resulting from his endless addiction to smoking. Everyone, everywhere, regardless of their age and religion, is a part of me. The butcher in the meat shop across the street is a part of me. The pauper spending his nights sleeping in the public park is a part of me. The greatest stars on TV are a part of me. You, dear reader, are a part of me. If only everyone kept that in mind, and judged others on beyond what the eye can see, they'd see that we are all the same. Then there wouldn't be any need for lying to impress others, nor to care about what others think, because they'd all know that we are all human. Our heartbeats complete one another's, without God and the people surrounding us, we wouldn't exist. So, thank you dear reader, for completing me, and helping in creating my entity. Thank you for feeling the same way I do, and hopefully, thank you for understanding that we are all born equal.

(concl) are your parents of substantial means?....If not, let me know, and I will send some money to held you and farrah prosper....such intellects are valuable to our species. In any name that any religion wants to label him, God, Allah, Buddha, Jesus,...peace to all mankind, especially at this time of year, the holiest for Christians...God Bless...tom

You are wise in ways unknown to the vast majority of mankind and that you are this way at such a young age, my God, even that you speak my language, and I not yours, it is almost too hard to believe...and that you happen to have an equally talented friend, is, to me, seemingly way beyond the fall of chance. It appears, from farah's note, your trip to Disneyworld is unlikely. I am very sad if that is the case...are your families in need of help ie money, or, are they, as I suspect, of

If people acted like that, it would be a better world. It is too bad that EGOS, Greed and corruption play so much of a role in government. Your blog is a day brightener. I just returned but will soon be reading and commenting. God Bless. Vince

Wonderful perspective for sure. I was told when I was younger that, everyday, around the world, all that can happen to man in general, good bad or otherwise, feelings, emotions and actions, happens. There are 6.3 billion people alive right now. So we all share this constant experience. And we share together. In my poem, "A hope for tomorrow", I am hopeful that sanity will rule and we will be able to see that we are not alone. Peace be yours. Christian
