I have this week off from work but my wife doesn’t which means that I am home alone with an entire holiday’s worth of leftovers. Sandwiches, chips, wings, dips, candies, soups, nuts, cheeses, cookies and several platters of Baklava, (the rewards of marrying a Greek girl). Barb got me a sweat suit for Christmas and now I’m glad that she did, it grows with me. We also have a sunroom off of the living room and it is not heated so it has become our walk in refrigerator. On the table in the sunroom sets all manner of beer, wine and soft drinks. Each day this week has been a non-stop test of will. I can’t walk from one end of the house to the other without having several tasty treats run out from behind some hiding place and throw themselves into my hand. Sherlock follows me and picks up the ones that were a bad shot and landed on the floor. Good dog. It is also amusing to watch him chase down an M&M with his cone on. He’s learned to turn his head straight down and slowly lower his cone over the target and then move his mouth to the morsel. He looks like a vacuum cleaner. I have also learned the worth of tortillas. You can take boneless chicken wings, sloppy Joes, chili sprinkle it with cheese, toss on some pepper rings, nuke it and put it in a tortilla and you have a breakfast burrito sent from heaven. (This also applies to lunch and mid afternoon snack burritos and I have proof.) My wife makes great spinach artichoke dip which, I have found, tastes great on roast beef sandwiches. I don’t want you to get the impression that all I do is eat all day, I have been expanding my mind also. I have seen TV shows on Ancient Aliens, evidently we were genetically engineered by an alien race and left here on this planet until we evolve to the point where we will be useful to them. So far, I’m safe but if they come for me I’ll have burritos to offer them.
