In the sunset eve of my life,
A recurring thought plagues my mind:
How can I, as a parting soul,
Discard my past and leave behind
My shame, like shoes put off in porch,
Pain, prejudice, like clothes worn out,
And leave all on my pyre to scorch,
And set off on journey sans doubt.
Thoughts on death, commonest of rage,
Trouble a parting traveller,
Bent down with some needless luggage,
On lips a pardon, last prayer,
Regrets for not living so light,
His dead body left like a lumber,
Oh, waiting on platform of plight,
For a train not knowing whither!

Our rosy love grew fast to bloom,
Burnt in the heatwave of desire -
Young and impervious to doom -
Out-lusted, nothing to admire.
We spurned our tender love, my rose;
Its lustre faded, petals dried,
Fast beating hearts, now hollow, froze -
Nothing but thorns lodged deep inside.
Short-sighted sweet impromptu love!
Strong lasting roots grow underground -
Well nurtured is the rose we have -
And now it blossoms lifetime-round!

In the wee hours of a silent night
In my sleep I dreamt a dream
A lovely delightful dream
That took me to the land of love
In my dream I saw my prince
His contours aflame with sparks of fire
His eyes dewy with love
His lips quivering for a passionate kiss
But the cruel dawn came down
Sounding bugles across the hazy sky
Spreading thick veils of separation
And tore his face from mine
Come, Oh Night! Come once again
Driven in the chariot of darkness
And bring him to the shelter of my arms
To wrap him in the warmth of my caresses
To enfold him in the tangles of my tresses
When the whole world in deep sleep lies
Let me once more be blessed
With the dream of my heart’s delight
And be lost in that magic spell
Of his enchanting, electric presence
Which in the height of my passion
Was sullied by the light of dawn!

Whither Thou Goest
Face mask now styles covers all smiles test our trials,
Naught offer chance for love's advance into romance,
Time found we spare with those we share and often care,
As time march on all lives withdrawn from dusk till dawn.

How high can we fly?
(After all, we must try!)
Like the mythical Icarus
Can we touch the sky?
Yo, the answer is 'Yes.'
We've already done THAT
Soared into space
Returning and landing
Without going Splat
Yet the question remains
Just how far can we travel?
Will we achieve Intergalacticity
'Fore the Universe unravels?
The paradigm for success was laid out long ago
By a sci-fi writer whose name you might know:
Mr. Isaac Asimov, who created Hyperspace with his brain
As he never once in his life ever boarded a plane!

Whither,
O willow,
weeping so free-
shading the stream unto
the
sea.
Hither,
O willow,
whisper to me-
the comings and goings
you see.

Where are you going,
what will be
your end?
Will you tread
in others footsteps
or mark
the virgin sand.
Will you stop
from time to time,
to admire the view?
Maybe
just to reflect
awhile,on I, Me
and you.

whither beats a poet's heart
if not to beat in time
whither hark a poet's ears
if not to hear a sign
whither rings a poet's words
if not in tones sublime
whither gaze a poet's eyes
if not to the divine
whither moves a poet's pen
if not to write in rhyme
whither lives a poet's soul
if not in yours and mine

Into a great silver realm of night I go,
and strange paths I find winding
whither I stroll;
Jutting spear-fences cutting, tipped
frozen cold,
against a misted moon;
Twinkling snow on the death of eve,
When stray cats envy the warm windows....
And strangers in little alien-coves
seek their familiar front-door homes,
sometimes, I too
(suddenly)
feel alone
winding down strange paths,
whither I stroll
