Winter in West Bengal
Staying in state West Bengal, India,
where Summer dominates in entire area.
Slight shyly appearing my Winter,
on slow hesitant footsteps to enter.
Winter is allowed for two months only.
Rest ten months I can spend comfortably.
Always accustomed in light cotton dress.
Thick fabrics, synthetic clothes can’t impress.
Under frost or snowfall I’m not to roam.
Watched snow in USA : My second home.
Here tolerable Winter not too chilled.
Couple under same blanket : Love is sealed.

Residence in 70’s.
In 70’s Hectic days running, so busy
pursuing career as lecturer
in a suburb college, life not easy.
Four days a week, coming home quick
to arrange domestic front nice and cosy.
Already married, planned for kid.
Daughter born, new meaning of life: Indeed.
New responsibility, daughter became priority.
Small town of West Bengal in India was the place
Varieties of trees, flowers, birds, river to impress.

MY WINTER
Slight slowly shyly appearing my winter
on hesitant footsteps now to enter.
I stay in West Bengal, India
Summer- enriched: I hold cold-phobia.
Mild winder is allowed for months two or three.
Rest of the year I feel fully free.
Accustomed in light cotton dress.
Thick garments hardly impress.
Under frost or snow fall I am not to roam.
That I can watch in America: My second home.
Soothing endurable winter not too chilled.
Couple in same blanket: Love is sealed

Sixth Place
May the Dear Lord deliver us
Not from creatures carnivorous
But edibles less frivolous
Like cheeses odoriferous
Who gives a damn about Edam
First made in Dutch North Amsterdam
Or nutty-tasting Leerdam
And Czechoslovak Abertam
When some people find delicious
Or remain highly suspicious
Of a cheese that is nutritious
To say else might be pernicious
Called Kalimpong from West Bengal
As chewy as a rubber ball
Which doesn’t smell too bad at all
Or clog you with cholesterol
They're wrong. The foul effluvium
Causing our nasal odium
Creating pandemonium
As if it were plutonium
Is just a cheese no nose can bear
Once it’s been opened to the air
So, please, cheese eaters be aware
The culprit is your Camembert!
The place where I live is a damp swamp space
Here not only live human beings
But also live cockroaches, mosquitoes and flies
India is her name
If I go more specific then it is called west Bengal
Around me is only
Heap of mud, dust and dirt
Along with some liars, traitors and hypocrites
Strange, peculiar and odd things always happen
Most bewildering thing in this place is their mind
So superstitious are they
If you listen to their beliefs your head will start to spin
Take only one here,
They banned the cow slaughtering
As they think it is a great sin
But human sacrifice is not bad enough to be stopped
Rather still they believe
Human sacrifice could bring them a huge fortune.
( I wrote this poem after my best friend's death)
You played hide and seek with the death.
Then you gone away like a piece of paper.
Your body was found, not responding.
The doctors declared you dead.
We all mourned for our selfish life.
Somebody fingered at the building maintenance.
While someone was searching for its root
I was madly roaming everywhere
Of course, searching for you vainly
You smiled and told me
‘Bengali’, I'm doing yoga only.

Situated on the bank of Hooghly River,
This ''City Of Joy'' is full of wonder.
From ancient monuments to modern architecture,
The city flourishes with astonishing sculptures.
Capital of the Indian state of West Bengal,
The city of Calcutta warmly invites one and all.
Once formed by combining three villages,
Kalikata, Gobindapur and Sutanuti down the ages.
Today it is one of the biggest metropolitan city,
Being enriched in culture and diversity.
Kolkata is its modern name,
Yet it's ancient glamour remains all the same.
I am really proud to be a Calcuttan,
As I am proud to be an Indian.

THINK OF FROG CULTURES
JUST LIKE HUMAN NURTURES !
HERE HUMAN BLACK STABBERS
ARE RISING UP LADDERS !!
WE FIND RUMOURS AND HUMOURS
SAME AS JUMPING OF FROGS TO OTHER !
HUMAN RUMOURS OF ‘UNSENSORED LOVE’
JUST OPENING OF FROG’S MOUTH TO OTHER
HUMAN HUMOURS TO HUMILIATION
JUST LIKE FROG JUMPING TOGETHER
FROGS LIKE HUMAN ARE HERE
THEIR ABILITIES TO JUMP TOGTHER
ARE GREATER THAN
ANY SCIENTISTS' INVENTION !!
OUR LIFE IS FULL OF FROG’S JUMP
SOMETIMES WHICH LEADS TO
ACUTE DANGER TRAP
BUT WE HAVE TO SAVE FROGS
TO GIVE US A NICE JUMP
